Depending on the when you go the level of interest will change. During the blooming season April and May there are tons of flowers around the Garden, but that also means ton of people. Personally, i think the Gardens is more beautiful during Fall, less people and the sheer amount of yellow and orange off the trees is spectacular. I went with some friends to take some pictures and just had fun seeing things
It is super pretty and if you can time it when the roses are in full bloom then you are in for a treat. Do keep in mind that train thing closes way earlier than you think and no one warns you. So you buy the ticket and you dont get to ride it because you cannot understand why they would close the train an hour and a half before closing. The little store is quaint and has some unique items for the house. They also sell some of the flowers there. Overall a great place to visit but probably that will be the only time.
I photographed Nery and Victors wedding on a rainy day in November 2019, at the Los Angeles River & Gardens. The outdoor garden was absolutely gorgeous, especially with all the twinkle lights in the trees and was a perfect backdrop for my couples romantic photos after sunset.I loved working at this Venue and I dream to take more photos there!
Late post (March 13, 2016): My cousin and I took my baby niece here for her first spring pictures and to be a part of the Japanese cherry blossom festival. It wasnt what we expected and it couldve been better. Despite finding parking somewhere far in the neighborhood and the one hour wait in line to enter, the flowers and the sceneries were definitely worth it! To those who love Spring and flowers, you should definitely pay a visit.
Los Angeles River Center & Gardens, Mountains Recreation & Conservation Authority is so beautiful! It is such a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the nature and fresh air. Their holiday enchanted lights event is one of our family favorites and my husband and I even got married on the lawn last summer. The summer jazz events are wonderful too. Lots to love about this place!!
What a nice and quiet place to come enjoy an afternoon. We made the mistake of coming during the winter, where most of the plants were dormant. Its clean and the paths are well maintained. The enchanted railroad is more so for kids, although it has a fun, speedy downhill part. Overall, its a nice place for a leisure afternoon.
Ive been here several times over the years. True, in the winter, its not as spectacular as other times, but theres always something to see.Oak groves and camellias (in season--coming up!) are especially noteworthy.Nice little gift shop and cafe near a beautiful pond. Very peaceful place to unwind.
This place is great botanical garden to visit! It is a fairly reasonable price, really beautiful! Also, a good choice to meet a nice place around Los Angeles for tourism. It is a hidden treasure in California. The place has a restaurant, restroom, gift store, tables for picnic. There is a good parking lot. You can walk around the house inside and take a look close to the windows. Enjoy! The place is reopened, but you should buy tickets by website for a while.
Rise of the jack o lanterns review. I have no idea why people are so harsh. Went with my boyfriend both in our twenties and we really enjoyed it! This is a great event especially for kids i am planning on going back with my nieces and nephews! Imagine how hard it would be to maintain pumpkins for this long! And also i want to see all the people complaining that its foam to be able to carve this into foam and light the foam lanterns to shows detailed shadows! A little pricey but groupon helps! I would really recommend it!
Came here for the Enchanted Forests and it was pretty amazing. I am not sure if it was worth $28 but it was definitely beautiful. There were lights and greenery everywhere which was perfect for a romantic stroll. There were 8 stops with different views at each and it was perfect for families and kids. They have little snack stops that served food and hot chocolate which was perfect since it was pretty cold.
My wife and I have maintained an annual membership here. We love to come and walk for an hour or so at least once per week. We enjoy watching the seasons change. There are many pleasant places to relax and unwind in the Gardens. We also appreciate the many member benefits.
Perfect day to tour the gardens. Tons of photo opportunities and the employees our family encountered were all very courteous. Clean grounds and ample parking. The drive in from the 210 was pretty sweet too!
I recently invested in an annual membership and it is quite possibly one of the best decisions I have made. Its 70$ and you get a +1 so you can take a friend or family member. There are SO MANY hidden benches if you want to hide in nature and read a book. There are two big ponds and lots of smaller ones scattered around... look close there are giant koi fish below the Lilly pads. For those who dont like working out... throw on your walking shoes and go explore! Such a good work out alternative. I seriously recommend a membership for anyone looking to hide out and get away from city life in this little sliver of paradise.
I loved it! The forest was my favorite with the flower garden coming up second! Its great for the family or a cute date. I think its a bit expensive for the tickets, but its so cute and had multiple interactive light art to play with. They have 10 areas and some drinks and snacks. Do not order the the fries - worse fries I have ever had! How do you go wrong with fries?!
This place is really nice. The weather was nice for a walk today. I really enjoyed the rose garden. I checked in so i received $1 off for admission. I would come here again to walk around. Everyone is really nice there.
Beautiful gardens with quiet trails. My favorite is the Japanese Garden. It isnt as flat as some of the other gardens. Nice for taking pictures or just strolling around.
Wow this place is so beautiful, unfortunately I was only able to be the beauty of it in the dark for the enchanted forest event they have going on for the month of December. Its so beautiful here with all the lights and the displays and all the different garden areas. Im definitely coming back when its day time.
Its a great place! Beautiful!!! The kids had a great time looking at everything and looking for things. We followed the kids trail map that was given to us at the entrance and then did our own, trails, so much to see.
Love this place. Great for kids and adults! Clean and professional. Indoor go-cart racing and an arcade in the back room while you wait until your name gets called in!
Gorgeous, gorgeous place to take a stroll and bring the family. My favorite sections were the Rose Garden and the Ancient Forest. The Japanese Tea Garden was under construction when we went, but what was available to see was still lovely. A must visit if youre in the Southern California area, whether youre a resident or just passing through.
Just a very nice place. Quiet serene pretty. Nice way to spend a day. Its just a nice place to go and forget your in Los Angeles even for a little while
The Los Angeles River Center Gardens is located adjacent to the Los Angeles & Arroyo Seco River. Formerly the site of Lawrys California Center. On the corner of San Fernando Road and Avenue 26. (My ex lived nearby ). It is open daily, Sunrise to Sunset .People also have weddings, parties, etc. Bars available when serving alcohol or drinks in general. Great photo shot spots. Water fountain .This is also a great place for bikers be because they have a bike repair station, racks, picnic tables.Connects you to Griffith and Elysian Parks.
Great way to spend a day! The fragrance of the flowers in April is unbelievable! It was nice to see people that have an appreciation for nature, peace, and tranquility. Im too used to children screaming, loud seemingly hearing impaired adults, and crying babies everywhere you go now a days.
What an amazing place ! If you love nature and the outdoors this place is for you ! This place is big and offers so much ! Im considering this place for my ceremony/reception for my wedding and its an incredible site to see and very romantic ! Great place to go relax!
Such a gorgeous place. Perfect during spring and summertime. Although, I do recommend wearing comfy clothes, as much as you want to dress cute for photos!
Great park with amazing views found parking down the street. I went around 1pm on a Monday and it wasnt that packed loved the view super big park and my son loved the play area for the kids he had a blast running everywhere!
This was originally Lawry’s California Center, a showcase of restaurants and shops to promote Lawry’s seasoning products made here. The Lawry’s center, completed in 1953 and expanded in 1961, opened a dining area in 1970. The production facility was a popular place for public tours and school field trips. Lipton purchased the Lawry’s property in 1979 from its founders, the Van de Kamp family. The center, which was never profitable, closed in 1992 and was sold. The production facility was demolished to make way for Home Depot.
Fun and Beautiful... SPECIALLY during Camelia Season in January. Its perfect for walking distance, not so overwhelming
This is a beautiful garden tucked away in La Canada. The music series they have during the summers on Thursday evenings is a great series presenting some of the finest jazz music in Los Angeles
Just returned from their yearly Forest of Enchanted Lights and its a must see! Ill let my photos speak for themselves. I definitely recommend going.
Very nice facility and grounds. Nice parking and easy to find. Everything is well maintained and a very nice setting for any event.
There is Amazing scenery all around . I fell in love with the little shop and japanese tea house. Totally worth going.
This place is like the Garden of Eden!!!!! The photos dont do it justice you have to see it for yourself you can be there for as long as you want I walked the entire gardens and it took me a couple of hours theres a nice café where you can get sandwiches and salads.
Beautiful place. Went to a wedding there and was absolutely blown away by the incredible architecture and landscaping.
My favorite place to go on the weekends. Beautiful plants and trees. A lot of space for children to run around.
Lovely venue, beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Plenty of spots to take beautiful photos in and everything is laid out very nicely. No matter where we turned, we had a great spot to shoot. The couple was super happy with everything which in turn gave them some really great photos. Everything was pretty much perfect here and we can not wait to shoot here again!
Shaded gardens with plentiful fountains, modern restrooms, high-vaulted ceilings, plus informative placards featuring the Los Angeles river
I cant review from a person hosting, only as a guest. So as a guest, I was very impressed with the grounds at this location. Everything was clean. There are many different areas for guest to mingle and socialize. Had a great time!
It’s the Paradise on the planet. A magnificent and peaceful place where one can relax and explore the actual wonders of nature together with your family. We have the membership so we go to it regularly. They have number of programs you can sign up for. The Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden is the most popular one. You shouldn’t skip the Orchid Show. Its spectacular.
A nice place to relax or paint landscapes. Former Leary’s is now the center for many offices that improve the LA River. A lovely location with fountains and a cool breeze.
My fiancee and I recently worked with the Special Use Facilitator, Jessica, for our wedding. Jessica is easy to work with, friendly, and quick to respond. She was easily reachable for questions and the venue was by far the most reasonable financially and logistically for our event. We are vegan and LA River Center has a preferred vegan caterer, Todo Verde, that is outstanding. LA River Center made it easy to book vendors and hire whomever we deemed best for the job. The grounds are gorgeous and similar to stepping in to a secret garden. The layout was perfectly set up for all of our wedding needs. The landscaping and lighting were beautiful which eliminated our need to purchase florals. There are plenty of outdoor and indoor outlets, additional rooms for getting ready, and the grounds were ADA compliant. We loved our experience with Jessica and LA River and Gardens and highly recommend booking an event there, stopping by to enjoy the grounds, or checking out the LA River natural history display.
Awesome grounds, beautiful place for a special occasion
Superior atmosphere and setting. This place holds a distinctive historical feel. The grounds are pristine and kept up by a great groundskeeper. Our venue that day was a wedding, but anything that may require a similar experience will suffice. Wr would recommend this locale to anyone.
Very small garden but very nice venue for weddings.
Pretty decent. Came here for a Christmas party. Dont know much about the location itself. Had some nice scenery for pictures. Didnt really go exploring
They do some renovations, probably by summer be .But still a good place to visit
They are out to defraud anybody that dares to drive through their property. They have stop sign cameras up that that say you didnt stop when you did. good luck fighting it.
Basically offices in lower-upper Spanish-revivalist gardens. Good for a wedding or party, not for exploring.
A place where kids of all ages would benefit from a History lesson about Los Angeles and the facility itself is very nice for Special events!!
Beautiful place for events like weddings reunions, Sweet 16
This place a hidden gem, walking paths, water fountain, picture opportunities. It tells you about Los Angeles river. Dont missed an opportunity to visit this place
Its a wonderful place&once in awhile have private events. They even do fliming screen movies.
Loved everything about it, wonderful layout with plenty of room.Circa rental boutique did an amazing job with the decor.
Store and employees fine, cds over priced, infact everything is, Im trying to find out how this store benefits any Charity or cause,? Other then lining the CEOS POCKETS
Very versatile space that can be used for anything from small business meetings to large weddings and corporate parties
Nice flowers
Well lighted convent location inside and read how they built the Dam with ARMY core of engineers very interesting ., Will Recommend clients for next event.
In the middle of the hustle and bustle and skyscrapers near downtown Los Angeles, you will find this hidden gem. Shady trees, climbing vegetation on the front of the building (almost grown over the letters of the sign identifying it), art and beautiful shrubbery and flowers. The mission style grounds are a celebration of the ..the eleven miles of natural river where reeds, willows, mulefat, and native riparian plants have returned. The self-guided exhibit describes the history of the Los Angeles River, its current status, and a vision for the River’s future. It is a wonderful place to visit, you can stop thinking about life and other things and just enjoy the beauty of it all. There is a running water fountain, park benches, a picnic table, and lawn area.Open Monday-Friday 9-5. But check before you go, it may be closed for private event.
Breathtaking location for special events. Ambiance, food, and customer service was excellent
That used to be one of my favorite places to go when it was Lawrys Mexican Restaurant. I dont know who was catering this party or handling the bar or drinks for people who dont drink alcohol but they werent very accommodating. I was told that they didnt have soda so I walked back to my seat. Next thing I know was my son was able to get the bartender to pour some soda (Coke or Pepsi) into a cup with ice. He clearly wasnt paying attention to what was saying. The food was good for a buffet. The DJ played awful music and his speaker wasnt working very well.
We went here for a wedding reception and it was one of the most beautiful places Ive seen in LA
Nice, kind of hidden. Not too crowded.
If it wasnt for a wedding that I was invited to, I wouldve had no idea that this location existed and would not know about the beautiful Los Angeles River Center & Gardens. It is located in what seems like the middle of nowhere and once you turn into the parking lot you are immediately surprised. There are several beautiful fountains, lush flowers, and very nice decor all around. This location is perfect for your next outdoor event and has plenty of room to hold your reception, a dance floor, and bar.
The old Lawrys California Center, is now a Beautiful garden center and patio for special events. Its a lovely Oasis in the middle of the city, bordering Pasadena & Los Angeles. Near the tracks for Amtrak and Metrolink, it tends to be a bit noisy, but a lovely atmosphere just the same. Nice representation of OLD California Mission days...
This is a nice neighborhood park to visit or eat lunch here. Nice restrooms with full mirrors. Nice landscaping and Spanish colonial buildings with interesting displays inside. They even have a tennis court at the far end.
Nice place perfect for any kind of events, it feels very peaceful, good parking.
Nice place for family events. Very pretty garden with water fountain. We attended a friends wedding and enjoyed every moment.
Pretty place and much history and wildlife info about LA River.
Located on the other side of the 5 freeway, across from the hills of Griffith observatory. This location is very calm and serene, except for the occasional truck or motorcyclist riding by. The facilities are older, but do have a quaint feel of being within the walls of a mission. Neat place for a wedding, lots of shade.
Beautiful Oasis in an urban desert, really enjoyed attending a wedding at this venue.
Beautiful venue for parties, weddings, any type of gathering. The building itself has the look and feel of an old Adobe mission, there is a tree shaded outdoor garden area, that was ten degrees cooler than the outside of the complex, on a very warm LA day, it was perfect! There is also a good sizedplaza area set up for dining and dancing, all in all an oasis, in LAs East side.
The only reason this gets a 4 is because since they were setting up for a party and entrance wasnt allowed. I didnt get to see the rest. But from the shots I did get the beauty of this Inner City paradise one can see what to expect.
Beautiful garden but the staff was extremely rude. One staff member in particular harrassed my friends and I the entire time we were there as we tried to take family pictures in and around the area, stating that it was illegal to do so without a paid permit. I mean, isnt this place partially financed by tax payer money? Hhmmmm.... warm welcome.
Probably a decent part for events. But if you want to have a nice stroll or walking around the park is not very large and it doesnt have much interest
I had my wedding at this venue and I cannot express how magical it was. A true gem in the heart of the city. If you drive by, you may not even know its there but if you go inside, it will blow you away.
Really nice facilities. Lots of cool plants and trees to look at. However, your on your own as far as learning about the details that this place offers.
Beautiful outdoor venue! Great for weddings!
Beautiful little garden perfect for an outdoors event like a wedding! As you enter through the large arch doors your eyes cant help but catch the perfectly aligned fountains. The first one right at the entrance is located between two buildings and the stone has beautiful floral carvings. The water cascades from the fountain pool, through mini citrus trees in pots, into the main square which features the second and larger fountain as its centerpiece. Surrounding the large multilayered fountain are benches is secluded corners and bars that are ready to serve guess during an evening event. The garden has a few hidden areas, which I will leave for your own discovery.
The venue was well kept, the atmosphere was fun and there were beautiful opportunities there. Very great for any occasion
In the middle of the craziness of the railroad tracks harbor fwy and constantly passing traffic. Its the perfect relaxing park in the middle.
Indigenous Wellness Collective holds bi-weekly workshops in English and Spanish every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month during the 2018 calendar year and hopefully beyond. The atrium has beautiful high ceilings and gentle lighting. We enjoy the serenity of the fountains and bustling foliage of the landscape. The staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you MRCA and the river center for welcoming our collective to the space.
Place to relax with waterfalls.
Beautiful Wedding Great coupleAwesone Venue
Nice venue for wedding or a birthday celebration
Today I walked into the next part of my spiritual journey. I am so honoured to have had this experience today. This is what I came for. This is what I needed. I learned so much from two men who shared a lot about their experiences.
A cozy oasis in the city. Not alot to see but its nice
What a beautiful place.
Beautiful space
Beautiful tranquil in middle of city
GORGEOUS GARDENS! HIDDEN LA SECRET...
Beautiful wedding venue.
This place is an oasis in Northeast LA. It is open to the public, though there isnt much to do it her than walk around the gardens, because the buildings house nonprofit agencies and no visitor services.
Nice space in the middle of it it all.
Beautiful old building!
It is so beautiful and well maintained the service was great and I would recommend anyone here!
Beautiful location for any event. Staff bends over backwards to make you satisfied
Its very beautiful and natural and elegant!! A joy to be here!
Great place overall I had my prom there and was not disappointed
