The observatory was amazing! Driving up Mt. Scott, there are multiple pull off areas to stop and take pictures, but once you get to the top, it is absolutely breathtaking! You can climb around on the rocks and there are a few hidden gems of rocks to climb up onto and get some amazing views. I have a personal favorite (but I wont reveal the location). Unfortunately this area could use some cleaning up, as there is quite a bit of trash lying around and crammed into rocks. There are lots of signs that say there are no alcoholic beverages but I saw at least 20 crushed beer cans. Other than the trash, the experience was amazing. It was misty the day that I went and if youre a bearded individual such as myself, expect to have a very dew drenched mane. It was kind of amusing, personally. I will definitely be coming back on the weekends to wind down and read in my spot. The Mt. Scott observatory is a must-go when in the Lawton/Fort Sill area!
Always love it here, the kids had a blast and thought the Buffalo were Awesome! Of course, Mt. Scott is always great, lots of area to climb around and not too dangerous, about like Robbers Cave but with elevation to see the landscape. This is a great day of fun if you want to get away from the city and requires absolutely no planning or reservations.
Lovely! Worth the drive. Great hike here and the surrounding areas. Wear good shoes for the rock jumping and crevices. The top is kid friendly, dog friendly, family friendly and motorcycle friendly. Oklahomas highest dog for the day!
I read about the Wichita Mountains in S.C. Gwynnes Empire of the Summer moon. I had no idea there were mountains in this part of Oklahoma! The views are amazing. And we could hear the artillery practice from Fort Sill. Its a bit out of the way, but worth the detour.
Been a favorite spot for my daughter and I when she was young and now my grandkids love playing up there.Spoting buffalo, elk and texas long horns on way down and off the wild life refuge.
This is one of the best places Ive been to in Oklahoma! The scenery from the top of Mt. Scott is absolutely beautiful! Add medicine park on Facebook
Very nice place. Once you reach there it is difficult to believe you are in Texas and near Dallas.
Great location and Services, Go see the Mountain Beautiful Scenery
This scenic view never disappoints! Always breathtaking and spectacular views!
Very beautiful, with a great view of the land and water below. And not too difficult to get to.
Nice place to see the sunset. And great view all around.
We Had A Blast Out Here! Beautiful
Such nice relaxing place! Recepice for good time... wear something comfy, and take some good company- equals good time and awesome views.
Fantastic views! Must see! You can take a scenic drive up to the observation post or you can give yourself a great workout and hike the 3 miles up on the road. I would go early in the morning (before 8am) to beat the heat and the vehicle traffic.
Neat, never been on a mountain. I know live a little, geez. But a factual statement. I enjoyed it.
Mount Scott is a amazing place place. You get a beautiful view. And you get to get on the rocks and climb. There’s some picturesGreat place for a school field trip
It was very nice the kids loved it. Lot of people but still very nice everyone was very respectful and giving everyone space.
Mt Scott has a beautifully breath taking scenic view. Its one of Oklahomas hidden gems. Great place to see the work of God. Its a popular place to accomplish a goal of walking it which totals 3.14 miles going up and the same going down.Whether I walk or drive it for spiritual reasons, meditation, to see the sun rise or set, get a good old cry or whatever the reason, Im never disappointed. The only thing I would caution is the time of year you walk it, you may encounter snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, skunks, and other wildlife. So be careful. Whenever someone in my family come to visit, Medicine Park, Holy City, Meers, Ft Sill and Mt Scott are a part of my tour.
I havent been to Mount Scott in 8 years but it was absolutely wonderful visiting again!
Great scenic views, affordable restaurants near by, Medicine Park near by has swimming available and being in nature is just awesome
Always loved going here as a kid now doing it with my own!
This is amazing view great place to get in with nature and family out doors
Absolutely beautiful view. Wish I had some more time to educate myself about the observation.
This is on top of Mount Scott in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. An excellent place to see the surrounding hills.
Great family day trip amazing views and pic opts.. Certainly mountains in Oklahoma. Lol
This was a really great site to see. We went up the winding narrow to the very top. People are walking up to the top and walking back to the bottom of the mountain. The top of the mountain boasts lots if lookout points where one can see for miles. There are all these trails to travel. Loved being there.
This place has a very beautiful, scenic view.
It was a beautiful place to visit and so much to see. There are a bunch of really neat trails and we had a blast. It was a great work out and it wonderful getting the whole family out of the house. And everyone was still able to maintain social distancing.
A quick drive up Mt. Scott for beautiful panoramic views is worth the trip. Look for the wild bison as you drive through the wildlife refuge.
Nice scenic stop and easy to drive up. Lots of rocks for kiddos to climb!
This is one of my favorite places to go. So peaceful and relaxing
Beautiful area. The parking areas at the top can get a little busy, but theres plenty of space to spread out when you get out of the car.
So beautiful it almost doesnt feel like Oklahoma! This is a great place to enjoy nature. Be sure to check the hours before you go. They close the road certain hours so only hikers can use it.
Highest point in the Wildlife Refuge, the view is 360. Windy up there but it was a beautiful day
I mean, the view is incredible in every direction. A stunning and unique place in our country and state.
It was fun up there and you can see alone ways up there
Always a beautiful view and worth the trip up there.
Such a cool spot to explore. Great for all ages.
Wonderful panoramic view. The road is paved and well maintained. It is worth checking.
Great views deffenty a good place to go
It was absolutely wonderful...great view. Rock climbing was cool!
My first time up Mt. Scott. It is beautiful!! Definitely worth the trip!! If you are staying at Ft. Sill it is a must and its only a short ride away.
We loved this place. Nice and quiet. Good scenery.
The view is so awesome! Im so glad it is back to being open!
Great views. Not too crowded. Price (free) is right.
The road is currently closed to motorists. But they are allowing walkers and cyclists. Very nice walk up good for your heart. 3 miles up and 3 miles down with a great view of the area. During the summer time I would going early morning or later in the evening. Depending on your speed would look at a hour and half to two hour walk.
Worth the ride or walk up. Nothing like it for hundreds of miles!
Breath taking veiws! Took some great photos!
Road to the the top of the mountain have blocked, you need to spend 1.5 hours go hiking to the top. But its super fantastic and worthy.
Thats place its soo amazing i love it
Incredible views and a thrilling hike up the mountain were well worth the familys time and effort. No better view in Southwest Oklahoma!
It was very peaceful. Its a place to get away from the craziness. Lol
Beautiful area with lots of parking. There needs to be at least porta potty’s and garbage cans.
Always a great place to visit...you can see forever!
Great view from the parking area on top of the mountain. Plenty of boulder hoping opportunities for older children and adults, as well as less of climbing and exploring for younger children. No restrooms on top, but there are some at the bottom of the mountain. Just be aware that the nearest restrooms with running water and electricity are at Park headquarters a few miles away.
Simply put: ITS BEAUTIFUL!
Awesome views!!
Went there for hiking, its an okay place not the best. But for a day hike its good. We did almost 5 miles up and 5 miles down.
It is a great place for photos when its not to windy.
We had pictures taken at Mt. Scott tonight and they were fabulous against the backdrop of this place
Love the view. Scary drive up but worth it.
Beautiful views, the roads were in good condition as well
Great views! Nice breeze and plenty of spots to get a great picture. Beautiful.
Beautiful place with open air and gorgeous scenery.
Absolutely stunning. Beyond breath taking and so worth the drive. If youre already in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge this is a bonus as its not far away and within the Refuge. Its so beautiful and relaxing and should be apart of any visit to the area.
So Beautiful!
Mount Scott is currently closed to the publichiking bicycles and vehicles while construction is underway. Please make good choices and do not enter the construction zone or try to hike on Mount Scott. Please enjoy the rest of the Wildlife Refuge and keep an eye on the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge Facebook page or your favorite news source for updates
Always a fun visit.
Absolutely steller views.
Love to go up and let the grandkids play
Nice view, weather not for November
Amazing as always. Gorgeous view.
Beautiful views. Lots of parking. No trashcans.
Had a blast as always, Beautiful scenery!
Great view of Lake Lawtonka to the North and Fort Sill/Lawton to the south.
This was by-far the highlight of our driving tour of southern Oklahoma. Beautiful views from the top as well as several places where you can pull off the road on the way up. Simply amazing for photos, rock climbing, and just gazing at the beauty of the surrounding mountains, lakes, etc.
Wow! The view.... beautiful... a must for everyone to see and enjoy.
Really great views! Lots of runners, road bikers and rock climbers were there when I went to ride my bike. Not much shade so bring sunscreen! I didn’t see a water fountain either. Views are great. I had to park on the street because the gate was closed which I later learned meant the park is closed? So many people were in the park so I didn’t think anything of the gate.
The weather was perfect this evening and the scenery was beautiful.
We hiked up here for PT one morning and it was beautiful! This was one of the many times I’ve been up Mt Scott and it is always a treat coming back. I would recommend parking in the picnic area across the entrance to maker sure your vehicle is out of the way. If you are going to hike, you can only hike in the morning on certain days. Vehicle traffic is allowed in the late morning. If you are a unit on Fort Sill, I highly recommend hiking up for PT. If you are here for a BCT/AIT graduation, I recommend driving up and taking some pictures. On a clear day, you can see miles of Oklahoma! A++
Wonderful get away into nature!!
I absolutely loved this even though Im deathly afraid of heights!!! As you wind your way to the top you can look out across the land! The views are breathe taking!
Great place to visit and get a great view of the area. Considerable trash around the rocks...please dont litter and hold on to your loose trash when there (windy!) - this could be a 5-star place with everyones help on this.
Always great views from atop Mt. Scott.
Fun family atmosphere enjoyed the time we spent was amazing
This place is close to Lawton, Ok and about 145 mins from OKC...just beautiful.
Beautiful hot day in june.
The view and relaxing time that you could have here is great
The road up is narrow and has a lot of pedestrians but the views are spectacular.
Great place for photos. Stunning views. Fun place to climb around
We love to visit her, its a great place to take kids. Very nice and calming landscape.
Yo, there be rocks, and views, and views of rocks. Its cool.
Absolutely enjoyed my visit. There is a lot to do around this area and so much beautiful scenery. Hard to take it all in, in one day.
We climbed it while the road was closed. Worth it one hundred percent! Fantastic view!
Beautiful place!!
This place is great, always something to see.
Is a very beautiful area to visit—drive up was easy and there were great views from all angles. It was plenty busy being a holiday.
