A pleasant place to spend an afternoon. Compared to other gardens I been to, its a bit rough and small. As a basic park to walk and relax in or as an event venue, its fine. I highly suggest taking the stroll to Heritage Village as that is a very nice experience that also offers a great overall learning opportunity.
A must visit botanical garden. I arrived at 9:30 and found it hard to leave at 1pm. A lovely tranquil garden. Great visit on a Friday, so quiet you can eavesdrop on the quiet conversations among the butterflies. The wide walkways welcome visitors into the floral spaces. Nice shady sitting areas to take in the lush landscape. Great morning get away just 30 minutes from downtown Tampa.
Beautiful large gardens. Free admission. Lots of beauty and wildlife to see here. Definitely recommended, this was my third visit and will keep coming back!
The floral smells, artistic sights, and tropical sounds conspire to create a delightful experience at the Florida Botanical Gardens. There are walking paths through tree-rich canopy, boardwalks over lush wetlands, and even a bridge to provide a full view of McKay creek in its lilypad-covered glory. Families with kids will find a fun spot on the northwestern edge of the garden. Dogs, too, are welcome. I advise visiting at opening time for the best experience.
It was a lovely place to walk around from the flower gardens to the ponds to the quaint village. Please go out and support this lovely place.
Enjoyed our visit here on a perfect cloudy summer day. Its FREE and plenty of different parking locations to be closer to a specific garden. Most of the flowers are in full bloom but some plants in the herb garden were wilting in the summer heat. Regardless, theres plenty of flora to enjoy and a good place to decompress.
Beautiful location, there is so much to see and explore. They also hold a beautiful Christmas light display every year. There is a succulent garden, water view, and a wedding garden. There are lawn chairs set up through out the gardens to sit and enjoy the view. There are tons of birds and turtles to watch. Also, beware if the alligators. Ive never seen any but there are signs posted everywhere to be cautious of alligators and snakes so Im sure yet are a very real possibility of running into some not so friendly wildlife.
Great place to visit. We were there today and just about had the place to ourselves due to the virus. The big downside was that all the buildings including the info and gift shops were closed due to the virus. The restrooms are open and very clean though. We spent 4 hrs there and really enjoyed it.
My degree is in Horticulture so, obviously, Ive go to every place I can to check out the plants. Of the 4 Botanical Gardens I have visited in Florida ( Palm Beach, Vero, Naples and Largo) I would rate this #1. It is stupendous! There are sculptures, mosaics, birds, butterflies, alligators.even mad chatter picnic umbrellas and so much more. Seats & benches are scattered through out the trails and plazas. This can be a teaching/learning experience too as there are areas for fruit, vegetables, herbs & seasonings. The gardens are constantly expanding so matter how many times I go there is always more to see!BEST Of All The Gardens are FREE! Incredible since I paid for the others and there is so much more here.Bring a book and curl up in the shade. Picnic to sustain hungry explorers. Chill by the fountains or wander the trails. Check out the Gift Shop too, so many choices.
The place is well kept. An Oasis away from home. You will love it if you love nature
Really enjoyed this place. A great place to walk and enjoy the sights.
The quiet, beautful trails are peaceful and filled with so many colorful plants and trees. We saw some birds hopping around a berry bush. Just a great place to see native plants and trees.
Great place to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Different events are held throughout the year. Call or google for hours due to Covid.
I can appreciate the gardens for perhaps a completely different reason than previous reviewers. While I found the entrance beautiful, what happened inside was even bigger. I and my wife took our son to vote there for the first time in his life. Monumental event, and the volunteers there were stellar in performance and courtesy. Thank you Pinellas County Election Team!
Very beautiful, well maintained park! Lots of things to see and learn about. And the best part of all is that its completely free!
Nice place to be able to walk around with COVID -19 putting damper on things! Will come back when this all blows over( hopefully) & village is open!
Beautiful and very large place. Lots of plants, bushes and flowering trees, fruit trees, herbs, and lots of wildlife. Perfect to visit during COVID-19, hardly anyone there, dont have to worry about crowds.
Well worth the visit. Plenty of plants and flowers in a setting that incorporates many elements of nature.
A great place for a stroll in the park. There are lots of fun trails and plenty to see. My favorite spot was the little pond with the tiny Gators!
This is such a beautiful botanical gardens. Spacious and containing many tropical plants and trees. We spent several hours and really enjoyed it. Admission is free.
Such a lovely place to enjoy a leisurely stroll with a loved one or family! The Christmas lights were very beautiful throughout. There was even a nice juggling show while we were there. Only $5 per person! I will be coming back during the daytime in the spring to see the pretty flowers in bloom!
One of the best botanical gardens Ive been to. My family and I really enjoyed our time here. We spent two hours and still didnt see everything. I highly recommend this place.
Its a great place to go when all flowers are in full bloom. But right now its in need of some flowers and taken care of. As flowers concern. Dont know if it was closed due to the Pandemia. But its nice to walk around.
Gorgeous! Visit this place quite often to see beautiful tropical flowers, different herbs fruits and mother nature at her finest
So relaxing! What a great place to walk and observe different types of native and exotic plants. I find the bamboo amazing! My main interest though was in seeing the various native plants. I also am keen on understanding which plants are considered invasive of which there was a display board. I went late in the day and I was the only person there. It is free and parking is free. This is a local treasure!
Such a lovely respite from the noise! A variety of gardens from the spice garden to the butterfly garden, and the ever lovely wedding pavilion. The entire grounds are a delight to the senses...vivid colors, intriguing leaf and bloom morphology, tantalizing scents from sweet to spicy to pungent, the sounds of birds and breeze, turtles and fish in the waterways alongside wading birds, and butterflies flitting and floating everywhere. A wonderful place to explore Floridas nature in all of its glory!
Great place for a walk. Plus you can have a picnic there and enjoy the view. All for free!
Amazingly Beautiful Gardens. A Wide Array of Flowers, Plants, and Trees. The Tropical Garden Was A Family Favorite!!!
Wonderful place. The family had fun seeing all the different plants and animals we dont have back home.
Very big lots of nice things to see here the kids really enjoyed it also
Such a beautiful place to take a walk with your family, including your furry friends! A lot of benches throughout the park, very relaxing, a lot of quiet places as well. I loved the variety of plants and overall atmosphere. It is definitely a long walk though, however, as already mentioned there are a variety of sitting areas throughout the gardens for you to take a break. I would also bring my own water especially when it is hot.
Like a great walk down a meandering trail. Very peaceful and, you learn something new every day.
So so beautiful. I just love the refreshing calmness it brings when I spend time here! Definitely worth visiting
Free parking and entry. Worth visiting and exploring lot of different tropical plants, herbs, fruits and palm trees. It would take around 2.5 to 3 hours to explore all of them. Though they say it open till 5, I don’t see anyone closing the ways, it was kept open till dust. Not much crowd, mostly silent and peaceful.
Wonderful park and amazingly free! But do your part and buy merchandise or donate!
Florida Botanical Gardens is a nice peaceful walk around the gardens but if your expecting alot of flowers you will be disappointed because the garden features indigenous plants with some flowers. There are many trails and a village recreated with very old buildings of the past and well worth the walk.
If you love looking at flowers, different trees, wildlife, etc then you will enjoy this place. Has a lot of places throughout to sit and enjoy the scenery.
What a beautiful place to be! Free parking, lots and lots to look at! Nicely kept walking areas, and gardens were great. I just wish they had a bit more signage for each plant in the herb garden. The tropical fruit garden was amazing! So many varieties.
Love this place! The kindness & friendliness of everyone there is so refreshing & the Christmas lights are magically beautiful for the whole family. Love that this awesome light display isnt about the money & that donations go right back into these peaceful gardens ~ I would encourage anyone to visit. Thanks for having us ♡
Well kept grounds and perfect for taking a family stroll. Our daughter is obsessed with plants and flowers so she appreciated this free outing. I look forward to the opening of the kids discovery area.
Beautiful park that isnt overcrowded. Rare palms such as Flamethrower Palm, Teddy Bear Palm and a few others.
We enjoyed nice Christmas display during our last visit. Gardens are spacious and they also had gallery open. It was a very nice walk on a beautiful cool night. They also had drinks and food available.
Pick place to see beautiful plants I have a section of native Florida plants so you can see what you might want to put in your own garden it will grow here great venue beautiful walk and beautiful settings
Amazing garden! Super well done. Maps located frequently around, very clean, and quiet. Everyone was respectful of social distancing as well. Absolutely beautiful and signs were in front of almost every plant - colors worked really well together.
I love it here. Theres a lot of Aquatic Life and birds that its definitely worth coming over here and visiting. Its not huge where its hard to see all the Aquatic Life or the birds that feed off of everything in the water. Seems like all the flowers were in bloom. Absolutely beautiful and stunning over here. I highly suggest coming here and bringing your camera because youre going to take a lot of pictures
Beautiful floral walks with garden areas and casual conversation. There is a butterfly garden and banana trees along with pineapples growing to delight the grandkids. Love this place
5 stars all the way!! This was the best treasure we found our entire vacation!!! It is a free botanical garden with a large area to wander around, plants were well labeled. It took a good 2.5 hours to wander through all the areas...and that didnt include the the Heritage Village as it was closed that day. This is a exotic plant lovers paradise!!!
Beautiful well maintained botanical garden with multiple species of plants. Some reflecting pools, some are full of moss, and then theres the resident gator, of course! Plenty of places to rest and observe and enjoy some quiet time.
Beautiful place. Nice plant sale. Lots of beautiful well maintained plants. Was a nice sale in a nice environment. Not cheap plants but not super expensive either. Lots of art and amazing pottery. Great event.
Nice, relaxing & beautiful place to visit and learn.
Excellent place to go for a walk. Lots of local tropical plants
One of the best places to visit in St. Pete. The gardens are beautiful.
This place is fantastic! So much educational things always happening. Today was bulb planting. Lots to see, and expierence. The nature walk takes you away from everything and you forget you are in Largo. We sat with our feet up in one of the Adirondack chairs and watch a baby gator swim in the pond. The birds were out, the bees and butterflies were just amazing. We went mid morning before it was too hot and spent 2 hours. We didnt bring a drink or we would have stayed longer. If you are looking for something free to do...this is a good place!
Botanical Gardens is always my go to place to destress and walk around to just enjoy nature and all of the beautiful plants they have. Its definitely a safe haven to be.
Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful tropical gardens. Excellent for taking photos and feeling like you are in another world.
Great place to go during Covid! Outdoors and beautiful scenery!
Beautiful place to go to. Lots of flowers, plants and trees to look at. Also nice ponds and water features.
Very enjoyable, a pleasant experience and break from the busy area.
A must-go, educative place for anyone who loves nature and loves to learn about plant life, especially for family with children. We found this place an amazing stop on the way to the magnificent south Florida beaches. The place is sizable filled with walking trails, sightseeing, art creations, and wildlife. Free entry and free parking are two huge pluses, even though donations are suggested.
Beautiful place for an escape. Lots of shade and seating areas. Beautiful gardens, and all the plants are labeled so you know what youre looking at. Well tended and clean.
I wish I lived near this place. I would walk it everyday. So beautiful.
This is a small, lovely garden with free admission that would be an excellent venue for an outdoor wedding! (You do have to reserve for special events.)
Really wonderful, well groomed gardens, and FREE! Lots of interesting and varied trails. Some are wild, some are groomed, all are educational with great plant identification. Bring a picnic lunch. There are benches and tables where you can sit, eat and relax. The gift shop is cute. The best thing is the glorious flora and blooming flowers. It is such a joy for a Midwestern girl in winter.
Average garden, no signs were available for many plants. Could have more orchids considering the favorable climate. We were hoping to see an alligator, but did not.
Beautiful gardens. Theyve added a couple of new things since weve been here last. The wedding gardens are my favorite and Im sure the nighttime Christmas light display is beautiful as well.
This truly is a must see for nature lovers. You can see many different kinds of plants, trees, and gardens. The place is very large so having a map is advisable though most areas are labeled clearly. There is an abundance of wildlife as well as you can observe everything from alligators and turtles to egrets and water foul. The only downside is there are a couple of trails less traveled or very near water wear alligators may very well be. Last time I was there my family went on a trail near the fruit garden because it had informational signs we wanted to read and a small observation pear. About half way around quickly abandoned the endeavor as when we reach the pear there was a baby alligator only a yard from the shore and maybe two feet from the dock. We were afraid the parents may be nearby and the signs on the trail had not been maintained well either. We observed other alligators but that was the closest we got to one before spotting it. Overall the place is amazing and it is very enjoyable and informative but if you bring kids you should be aware of the alligators.
Always a new adventure when I visit here! Lots of alligators, turtles and birds as well as flowers and places to sit and enjoy. AWESOME variety of unique plant species and small paths create a cozy atmosphere. ENJOY
Beautiful and so peaceful. Loved everything about this place. Will def return!
Nice place to visit. It is so relaxing there. Great place for kids and adult. Recommend it! Next to this place there is a heritage village. Must visit it. I like it!
This is a beautiful place to visit. The best part about it is that its free! Spend a day and enjoy the sites and smells! Dont forget to visit the historic village right next door. Its also free! Donations are welcome, so be sure to visit the welcome centre anddrop a few dollars in the donation box.
This Garden is very beautiful, People are nice and what’s impressed me is the workers are volunteers very kind, very nice people! What I love the most Very Clean Perfect place for family specially for kids..kids needs environment like this️
Christmas lights are absolutely impressive, the garden aroma, the exuberance and the colorful settings make this place a must go for season celebration!Once again I come back to enjoy this wonderful place! This garden is a gift to all!At this time of the year they make a huge effort to set thousands of lights all over the garden, secluded corners with benches near a pond, an invitation to meditate or gaze around.
All the different succulents was my favorite part!! A very beautiful spot just to go on a walk or take nice pictures
Good place, take a walk with your family! everything is tasteful! There are interesting things. not many people, convenient parking. the entrance is free.
Wonderful place. The Christmas Light Display was very beautiful. We loved it so very much. I highly recommend it. And you just have to give a small donation of $5
Love this place. Nice peaceful and relaxing in the day. At night, during the Christmas holidays, it becomes magical with lights and music. Its a great place to go. By yourself or with someone special or with your family or a friend this is wonderful for any occasion.
Fantastic array of flora. Even saw some baby gators.
Great place for any type of photos!!!
Beautiful selection of plants from all over the world.
Beautiful gardens throughout with free admission for parking and entering. We truly enjoyed our experience here and are amazed at how well kept the entire place is. This is a must see! If you are going to be looking for something specific, make sure to check out their website for what is blooming in that season.
Really nice park, gorgeous gardens.
We love this place! Before we moved to Florida we would enjoy the gardens here on each trip to the area. Now that we are here we still recommend it as one of the nicest botanical gardens in the area.
We love this place! Always something joyful to experience!
Such a beautiful place to take a stroll in the morning hours. We visited on a weekday so not much foot traffic at all. Botanical Gardens is a donation facility there are no entry fees. Dont forget to contribute! It takes a lot to keep up these lovely plants and grounds.
Beautiful! The Florida Botanical Garden was lovely and a perfect place for a walk on a cool January morning. And the best part is that its FREE! The walking paths, boardwalks and bridges were well maintained and picturesque!
Always well kept and clean. I love walking through this park during every season, but mostly in the spring and summer when everything is in bloom. This is a beautiful park. Also, it is dog friendly so I can bring my pup.
This place was a great little surprise to find in the Tampa - St. Petersburg area. It has some really nice walking paths that weave through beautiful plants. They also have a butterfly garden. There is also a heritage village which is like a living history museum but unfortunately we didnt get to see this because it was closed the day we visited. This is definitely worth checking out especially for those who like flowers and plants, plus, its absolutely free!
Great place for butterfly watching. Like how the butterfly/flower garden is so dense yet pretty.
Excellent place to take the family that isnt going to break your wallet. Very peaceful, beautiful, clean and relaxing atmosphere.
Went to see Heritage Village, but ALL the buildings were closed. :( However, we enjoyed wandering through the gardens next door.
This is a beautiful garden that i am glad i checked out. Many types of tropical plants and plants from all over the world including fruit and herb gardens. Great place to relax and enjoy nature!
This is a place my husband and I go to often. Its ever-changing and always peaceful. Beautifully maintained. We bring picnic lunches and take long walks. The variety of trees and and plants is incredible. Youll always see things blooming and fruiting. You can cross the footbridge to Heritage Village and walk there, too. Its like going back in time. (In fact my husband and I married in the old church there, on Valentines Day, 2015 ♡♡)
It was really pretty and there were places to sit, just relaxing strolling through
What a beautiful and well maintained place! The flowers and plants are just gorgeous. They have an herb garden, fruit garden, wedding lawn, nature trail and ponds and lakes. We will be going back again soon. Many of the flowering trees and plants they have there were not quite in bloom yet, and we cannot wait to see that.
One of the best places to go to relax and shoot flower pictures. Loved it.
Nice place to walk and enjoy nature. also free
