Very nice park, though it would be better with less trash. Theres a long paved trail that goes around a wooded area full of shorter boardwalk trails. There is also a lake with a boardwalk around it as well. The lake had a lot of turtles, fish, birds and even an alligator! Its a nice park for a lazy afternoon stroll, see a little wildlife and visit the butterfly garden. Great place for a picnic, with sheltered tables at the start of the trail, and even a nice bathroom. My only complaint is the amount of trash, I expect some since it is in the city, but there was A LOT.

Been going there for ten years for exercise and nature. Never crowded and never know what you will see. Over the years I have seen river otters, rabbits, roseate spoonbills, parakeet flocks, pelican, female peacock, bald eagle, hawks, coyote, armadillo, osprey catching fish (and on nest), common snapping turtle, small harmless black snake, 11+ foot gator (the one in still photo is 8’), opossum (while playing possum), raccoon, great horned owl... But most times I see only a variety of water birds, squirrels and rabbits and inhale plenty of fresh air.

I took a walk around the largo Central Park nature preserve. I only went to the section which was decking that circled a pond / lake. The decking that circle the lake looked pretty old. I saw some birds and other wildlife. As I look deep in the marsh area I saw an alligator. It looked to be a nice place to actually walk through. Can you see the alligator in the picture?

I arrived here January 5th in the early afternoon for a hike and photo adventure. My friend and I headed straight for the observation tower where we took in the lovely view of the kayak route. We walked along all the trails and the pond in about 40 minutes, stopping an admiring an alligator along the way. It was shorter and less rigorous that I had hoped. Also, when I wanted to hear the sounds of nature, I heard the hum of electrical towers, which was a bit of a downer visually as well. There was trash along the banks of the pond as well. There werent many other visitors, and the foliage was lush even in winter. However, it didnt seem too well-maintained. This place definitely could benefit from a more active clean-up crew. However, its a great place for family or just a short walk.

Had a great walk in The preserve. Saw all kinds of birds, turtles and even an alligator. The family had a great time out in the fresh air and sunshine walking the trail. Awesome trails, well cared for. If you like a little walk in nature just to get a little exercise and also watch a little bit of water fowl and turtles then this might be a good destination for you.

The Nature Park is a relatively obscure location tucked away in the middle of an area that is relatively developed. It is not heavily trafficked. The native Wildlife seems to be quite happy with that. Lots of birds, fish turtles, small animals and others to enjoy. If you arrive before 8:30 a.m. you will often see numerous bunnies lined up along the south side trail adjacent to one of the canals. During the summer its more comfortable walk because theres so many shade trees and the canals and lakes provide additional cool air especially earlier in the morning. One of the Lakes is surrounded by an elevated Boardwalk. Several other raised boardwalks run throughout the park in varying locations and are easy to navigate once you have walked on them once or twice. This is definitely a place to come and visit. Youll feel immersed in the natural environment!

Great walking / biking path (half mile) where you can sometimes see parakeets, alligators, eagles, otters and other interesting things. Part of the path is along a river overlooking a golf course. I have been many times and its never been busy. No issue with finding a parking spot.. There is no playground here, but my toddler enjoys coming.

A wonderful place to get away from it all. You feel so at peace, so relaxed. The smell of honeysuckle, the bunnies, birds, the water & wooded area makes for a lovely place to take a walk. Im so happy Largo has this park to allow for the beautiful nature to calm the soul. ️Note: Should have volunteers clean up trash left behind by those who dont seem to respect or care about nature.

Beautiful preserve, no charge for entry. Theres one trail that wraps around most of the perimeter, following a lot of the waterways meant to help replenish the marshland; and theres a boardwalk that goes throughout the interior woods. Theres lots of bird activity here, so bird watchers are pretty common! Theres at least one alligator that Ive seen here too, though she largely keeps to herself and doesnt show herself too often. This parks also my go to whenever I want a nice walk to play Pokemon Go! Theres plenty of pokestops and active gyms, on top of it being an easy walk, so its a perfect choice! Please note this is not a park meant for dogs. There are signs posted near the entrance and on boards. Ive been seeing a lot of people with dogs coming in lately, so it seems necessary to repeat. Dogs can disturb and even hurt wildlife. They can be a nuisance to the people attending the park. The wildlife can even be a risk to your dogs safety. Please stop bringing your dogs to this nature preserve.

Way to close to nature for comfort. How the alligators havent came up and attacked a human yet, I do not know... After seeing (at least a 13 foot) gator pull a huge turtle down and feast on it only a couple feet away from the walking deck...we were okay on coming back. The gators can easily walk right up on you at ant point of the trails and near the water. Or whip their deadIy tails. I suppose that is why your own animals are not aloud here. Birds, raccoons, turtles, frogs, alligator eyes peering out at you along the water surface...you name it. If you are a nature lover then this is your place. My family and I prefer watching these wild creatures at an enclosed facility like the zoo. Not that that is any good for them but seems alot safer for us humans that are observing them. Especially the gators this time of year when we are warned to beware because they are in heat. Yikes. Thanks but no thanks.

Review №44

A great variety of birds are located here so its perfect for photography. Dawn and dusk are the best times to view them. They are used to people so you can get closer than normal. Go around the pond if you time is limited. Alligators can sometimes be seen when its warm, usually in the 80s and otters are sometimes seen in the surrounding canals. Turtles sun themselves and fish are numerous. It is a water retention area so you dont want to fish there and its posted. No dogs allowed and no bicycles on the boardwalk. Feed the ducks frozen peas and corn and put your plastics in the bins. Floridians care about their parks and wildlife.

Its hard to believe that such a beautiful spot of nature is hidden in the city like this. Its like you step off the pavement into a Jurassic wilderness. Plenty of wildlife including otters, turtles, exotic birds, fish, and of course, alligators. There are hiking trails through the woods, and there is also a boardwalk that circles the lake.Ive been here twice, and I would suggest visiting early morning. We went around 10am during the week and only saw about two people the entire time, and there was plenty of wildlife everywhere.Went back around noon on a Saturday and there were lots of people, and very little wildlife, as I assume the high number of people scared most of the creatures away.Love this place, and I will be visiting again soon :)
