The trail head marks the starting point for the trails that go back through the Acadiana Park Camp Grounds and over a few Bayous and Coolees, and near the banks of the Vermilion River. The trail is a mix of dirt and board walks. Much of the area across the trail bridge has been improved too board walk, but the areas that are not can get very muddy, so wear the right foot wear if its rained recently (which is very likely has). This is a very low difficulty trail and great for kids or anyone who just wants a stroll in the trees. Some of the trees are likely hundreds of years old and are huge. If you just want a quick walk at lunch or to feel a little more like you are in the woods inside the city limits, this is a good choice.
This place far exceeded our expectations! Who knew there was a great family hiking spot in Lafayette? Well be back again soon!
I like the trails there but they do need to be cleaned up a bit after the hurricanes.
Beautiful, well maintained area. The boardwalk is absolutely wonderful to see the real wildlife of Louisiana and not feel like youll tread on a snake. If youre in Lafayette, I highly recommend anyone stop by this area. It takes at the most, an hour of your day to explore, you wont regret it (:PS - Bug spray is your best friend!
Loved our adventure here! We saw lots of flora and fauna, the there was plenty to do. The staff was very accommodating to our visit, and even had an impromptu class for our scouts to learn about Louisianas native species.
Such a good place to go walk trails.
Perfect get away into the woods for the kids and adults plenty to do and see
Love the campground.. very quiet and semi secluded . Saw a coyote on Saturday during the day so keep an eye out
Beautiful boardwalk and more trails thru a native Louisiana area.
Nice place to take a walk and play in the park
I love coming here
