Beautiful day for a hike. Family, dog friendly & great for couples.Well marked map at the parking lot. Basically 2 mile loop with extra loop if you want to take it could add another mile. There are additional bridges & overlook area since February when we were here last. And, this is designated part of the North Carolina Mountain To Sea Trail (MST).No paved paths - 100% dirt, root & rock.No rest rooms or drinking water.3 places to sit & rest if you want to picnic or sit and enjoy the elements for a while. - picnic table, bench by waterfalls & overlook.Hiking boots recommended & hiking pole if you have them, as the leaves are slippery & there are plenty of roots on the trails.
Very pleasant. I was a bit surprised there was so much elevation change on the trail, but it was very welcome for me. Some parts of the trail can be a bit narrow, but theyre in a nice part of the woods, and the cascades themselves are very nice as well. It was quite a bit more crowded than I expected, but it was a Saturday. Ill have to go on a weekday next time.
This was a very nice hike. Lots of wild flowers and cool plants to look at too. It was nice and shady, plus it wasnt too difficult of a hike.If you are looking forward to the cascades though, dont get your hopes up too high. Not sure if it was low when I went, but it was really more of a trickle than a cascade. That being said, it was still really beautiful and not too crowded.
This is a great trail, and people seem to mostly respect it. Theres not a lot of trash, etc. It does have quite a few roots, rocks, and other obstacles, so watch your footing!
We loved exploring this trail even in the muddy conditions. The river crossings were fun and it has an untouched feel to it since not many people were on the trail with us. Dress with sturdy shoes that you dont mind getting wet and bring a hiking stick if you have it. No trash receptacles that we saw, and no bathrooms so plan accordingly.
Beautiful area. Lots of great spots to play on the rocks and in the river. Limited Parking and not ideal to have to cross a road with a 45mph speed limit near a curve to get to the trail.
Good trail to walk but beware the crowds, this place is no longer off of the map so avoid peak times if possible. Can be very crowded on pretty days.
This place is gorgeous We got lost but didnt mind, we just enjoyed the extra time we got to spend haha
Great for a short hike in a beautiful natural setting.
Peaceful place minutes from the city.
This is a beautiful trail and great for a family hike. The people that created these paths and bridges have done an excellent job keeping it clean and naturally beautiful. The kids enjoyed crossing over streams, checking out the minnows and crayfish, we even found a turtle! There were also a couple benches to stop and have a snack at. Overall, I was happy to find this little piece of heaven so close to home. The only thing I ask is that people with dogs please use common sense. ALL dogs should be leashed and if your dog does not like other animals or people DO NOT bring them to a public trail. We passed one person with an aggressive dog that was freaking out trying to get to us (with 3 kids and backpacking baby). Luckily that dog was at least on a leash, but then another was running lose. The second dog may not have been aggressive but was still intensely curious about my dog and did turn into a brief fight (with my dog getting injured). Please help to make this trail enjoyable and safe for everyone.
Great trail. Beautiful cascading waterfalls. Several places along trail to sit and enjoy nature at its best, undisturbed.
Great hiking, nice little bridges and creeks
Very lovely water creek.
Beautiful area, well marked trails!
Nice trail. Very muddy after a rain.
Nice hike in a green forest. You feel like you are in the mountains, but are only 10 minutes from home.
Great little park for a quick hike.
Really nice hike, shaded, a bit muddy but it rained a lot last night, rocks and streams, some hills some flat, lots of tree branches to step over
Surprise! Didnt know we had this AWESOME trail with gently rolling cascades. Right in Greensboros back yard!
Fun hike with a view
It is a nice trail. Not very long and not too difficult so can be enjoyed by most people.
Nice spot for a short walk in the woods.
Neat little hiking trail close to Walnut cove
Nice trail. We take our dogs there. One of which we took in that was abandoned there. Its better after a rain when the water is flowing. Close to home.
Beautiful hike
There is a gun range abutting the property and on certain parts of the preserve the shots are very loud - probably .3 miles away. If the gun range wasnt right there this place would be amazing! If anyone can find their hours of operation please advise as I could not see the business listed on maps.
The first part of this trail is unimpressive, but once you get across the creeks and near the cascades it truly is a hidden treasure of peacefulness.
Go after rain
A wonderful trail! Easy walk or jog...well marked. Bring the pups -- they will love it too.
Not Abad trail for the family. Well marked and nice and shaded
Neat little trail on the side of the road... It was a fun detour for some exercise...

Wonderful trail with many diversions
Nice hike and so close! Parking lot is small. The trails meander through gentle wood slopes and over streams.
