Nice play place for both big and little kids close enough you can watch both easily. Some shade, but not much in the play area. The plastic on the equipment gets EXTREMELY hot, so we feel the plastic before letting littles play.The walking trail around the lake is extremely rough in some areas (not well maintained) and our stroller/ scooter wheels were completely covered in goose poop from walking around the lake (I get nature, but theres a lot!) Make sure to take wipes or something to clean your stuff.

Always a treat to visit McKay Park. It is a wonderful natural setting with the most user friendly features. The paved walk trail around the lake always has people of all ages walking/jogging through the pleasant scenery. An updated large playground always has the giggles and laughter of children playing. Today a unique surprise as a RC control operator was flying his seaplane on the glassy afternoon lake surface....and finally my main pursuit of happiness there today was the call of the Lakes most recently stocked Rainbow Trout...and my call was answered many times over catching and releasing several of these beauties. Describing this experience as a little bit of heaven on earth might be a bit of a stretch...but after I left today I felt again that it is....! Highly recommended.

Its a pretty little park, but there were a lot of little bits of trash lying around and the ducks were frustrated with it.

The playground in this park is first rate, with a structure for little kids and another bigger structure for older kids. The bigger structure is tall, almost two stories. There are several different climbing options, and two slides in the bigger structure. Plus there are a couple of sets of swings. The lake is at least an acre. The sidewalks and lawn are nice all around the lake.

Trout fishing, dog walking, kids playground, 3 parking areas. There is a nice picnic area by the lake or rather pond and down the hill nice area to play soccer or other lawn sports.

Small park trailer around small lake

This is a great place for kids and parents. The children play centrally while the parents sit on benches right around them and within 15 min across is the playground right in the center. Theres areas for younger kids and for older kids, but all within the age of three and a half to 12 of 13. There is a beautiful Lake adjacent to it and many times you can see geese or ducks during the right season. Theres a walking path that goes around the lake right near by so that parents of older children can go for a walk. This parking nearby that is easily accessible, but there is a large Hill so anyone in a wheelchair may have to come in from another approach. There are many ways to get there from outside of the park

The park is nice but Im sad with how adults treat teenagers ️ no respect to them teaches them not to respect people. Funny how none of the adults came to speak to the parents... probably because my boys werent doing anything wrong. Its a park people... Why cant we all just get along?

Nice park. Basketball court needs to be resurfaced. And too much geese poo. But the best kids play area in town.

I liked it a lot! Im 12 years old and basketball is my life. I go there everyday to practice and get better. If you are wondering where the basketball court is then just walk the trail and you´ll see it.

I always enjoy walking around McKay pond. As long as the weather is decent, its always a bit of a challenge, but fun too. They have a sufficient number of benches surrounding the pond that even someone who needed to stop at every bench could, eventually, make it around. I appreciate the new playgrounds that have been put in, however, I miss the fitness trail that once surrounded the pond as well.

Good area to take family or your kids.

This a fun park. Most visitors are families with kids on their way to the 2 lakeside playgrounds. One is for smaller kids while the other is great for kids beyond the toddler stage. The walking trail, which surrounds the lake, is another main attraction. It is relatively flat with good birdwatching opportunities. There are restrooms, picnic tables, and drinking fountains. The Canadian Geese are great to watch, but their droppings can be problematic at times. Otherwise, this is a great hidden family park.

Theres actually shade on the play area so your kids dont get burnt up while youre playing and it is very well kept.

My kids love this parks playground. I love running around the lake. The geese could go but hey its nature right?! You can also fish here so that is a plus as well.

Love McKay park thatsa fun place, its nice for walks. Had my first kiss here about thirteen years ago. Lived in the apartment on the lake too. Its a great quiet place to live however over the last few years, its kinda become a drug Haven. Lots of the apartment nearby have lower rent so the potheads and crack addicts move in, and seeing as theres no sense of entertainment or clubs in Jefferson City its easy to fall into bad habits of alcohol and drugs and laziness, so its no wonder the parks are quiet and serene, even the druggies go there to simply enjoy nature, not to mess with anyone. Just have fun and enjoy it

This place is beautiful, it has restrooms, in case of emergency beautiful memorial trees for people, geese, and Pokestops galore for anyone who play pokemon go

Great location for families that have a little one as well as a big one because there is different sized play equipment available for both ages in close proximity to each other making it a breeze to supervise all your kids while they have fun. Theres also a pretty lake where geese are usually out and about. I would mention that the bathrooms are not close to the playground, so plan for that. Also, there is a pretty steep hill to come down (and to go back up!) if you park in the first lot. When I had many little tots or was very pregnant, I usually parked in a different lot instead of fighting my way up that steep hill with tired kiddos and heavy strollers! It was easier for me to walk to a further parking lot than to climb the hill with them.

Play equipment was all in good shape and the park was well kept. Only down side is the access path to the playground. Not really handicap accessible, very steep walk with no rail for assistance.

The park has a very good play area for kids and a pleasant walking trail around the lake. It is popular. Our only complaint is the lack of bathroom facilities.

This Is a very beautiful park to take children to, also has a lake where your kids can feed the geese. They have an excellent path to walk or do excercises. Bathrooms are always good and I havent found a reason why someone would have a complaint. One of my favorites.

As usual, well maintained. The location is a bit inconvenient but well shaded and a delightful place to relax when its just too hot to be outside elsewhere

Beautiful park teeming with geese and a large pond stocked with fish. Many benches and tables around the park allow for sitting pleasure. Not near any mom or roads so its pretty quiet.

Love the park. Like running around the lake. My 10 yr old son loves playing on the swings and goin down the slides. Its also nice that they have two sets, one for the littler kids and one for the bigger kids.

Nice walk all the way around the pond with benches to sit in between if you need it. Love it because I have health issues so it works out good for me.
