BE WARNED! Servers and staff DO NOT wear masks here! Do not go here unless you want your food/drinks to be breathed on by the staff during this pandemic. When I politely and quietly asked the bartender if it was a requirement, she just yelled at another employee, Put your masks on. My server had no idea that I said something. I was trying to be discreet about it. However, the bartender went and told my server that I said something about masks. My server then preceded to come outside to my table to rudely confront me. She attempted to say she was sorry for making me feel uncomfortable. When I went to respond to her, she rudely walked away and yelled, We are outside though. Then, I went back inside, completely upset by the confrontation. I went to discuss this with the manager. The manager was extremely nice and said they are supposed to wear masks inside, but the health department said the staff does not have to wear them outside. (Im still researching that, because it sounds unreal to me.) I purposely went to this place because they have an outside area, and they have wore masks in the past. I went about my dinner. Before I left, I went inside to use the restroom. All of the staff were not wearing masks again. Obviously, the manager has no control of the staff there, and they do whatever they want. Im a local and have been going to this place for years. The food is on and off there, but I usually go for the happy hour prices and the entertainment. They really need to get their staff and service in check though.

First I am giving Shucks a 4 but it was really close to 3 and was saved by a caring manager who stopped by and then sat and listened to our concerns and comments. We arrived at around 8pm with our party of 8. We wanted to sit outside but since it was karaoke night decided to be seated inside. The team was spot on and within a few minutes set our table for 8 up. Shawn, who bid a great job all evening, was our server and took our drink orders...none bar orders came quickly but 4 simple bar drinks to forever from a not so busy bar 3 . Food orders were taken and here is where Shucks must improve. Gumbo and Seafood Chowder were very good but came out warm not hot so 4 . Greek Salad was good. Entrees were next. My Low Country Boil was a 2 as it was too spicy and the sausage almost un-eatable. Bills Stuffed Mushrooms were 1 tasteless and dry. Fish Tacos were 5 outstanding. Sides of Green Beans & Coleslaw were good. Fries are interesting with a different spice coating. Chicken Tenders were supposed to come with dressing on the side but came out with hot sauce 2 . Wings were also good and came as ordered. Peta Roast Beef was also a bit dry 3 . As we spoke with the manager Bill mentioned the Big Pastrami sandwich he saw on the menu but didnt want to take a chance on a 2lb sandwich without getting a sample...good thing he didnt as the Pastrami was dry and had a heavy smoker taste and would have gotten zero . Bill suggested that they contact Pastrami Ronnie and use that. Overall we enjoyed our meal with the kids loving the Arcade and Bill even sang a karaoke song as we left and will return in the future.

It had been a while since Id been there and, after eating the food, I remembered why. I hesitated when I walked in because not one of the employees was wearing a mask. If they are that lackadaisical about hygiene in a Covid environment, you wonder what goes on in the kitchen. The server didnt do much to make us feel welcome. Her non-masked demeanor seemed indifferent. Dinner was pedestrian at best and the peanut butter pie, rescued from a freezer, is a waste of calories. While it is far better than Captain Ds, it pales in comparison to other local eateries. I know the pandemic has been tough on all the restaurants and bars and I have sympathy. Aw Shucks is a nice facility, too bad the staff has lost the will to serve and the management the will to protect their customers.

Food was great!!! Mc & cheese could’ve been better but other then that everything else was good!

My husband and I have been limiting our restaurant visits to those with outside seating, so we decided to stop by Aw Shucks for a drink or two to check it out. As we arrived, we saw a couple of people coming out of the door with drinks, so my husband went to the bar to get our drinks. The bar was not busy and the bar tender told my husband she would send someone outside. She and the waitress she asked to go outside both had bad attitudes. So w my husband came outside and we waited for 10 minutes or so. In the meantime, more people had gone to the bar and came back with their drinks. Hubby went to the bartender a second time and she again. with attitude, said shed send someone outside. Eventually a man came outside and took our order. We waited and waited and meanwhile watched other folks going inside and coming out with drinks. The third time my husband went inside was to cancel our drink order and we left. There are several places nearby that appreciate our business.

I only stopped there for a short time and didnt eat, but the staff was great and they had live music on Wednesday night which was nice. Ill have to go back again.

I love the relaxed kick back and enjoy your day feeling of this place. Large covered patio, and the brunch menu on Sat and Sun is extensive, something for everyone. Their chicken and waffles are the best Ive had anywhere in Jacksonville.

I am astounded by the lack of social distancing and most of employees were not wearing masks. Tables and menu did not appear clean. Had to move to a different table twice as they kept seating parties next to us.There were plenty of empty booths in the restaurant. Our waitress was in our face and finally wore her mask when we complained to the managers. Will never go back! Do not go unless you want to put your or your party at risk!!

Hate to write negative reviews for small business but sadly this place lives up to its Aw name. Im a local resident and was enthusiastic about this place google and yelp both reported this place to stay upon until 11PM upon arrival there was no host there to greet us when they finally did tend to us they told us they closed at 10PM. What a bummer as a mandarin local one wants us to support small business but inaccurate closing hours and overall extremely depressing vibes made this place feel like the dining hall of the Texas chainsaw.

Our server, pj I think cared more about getting wasted than serving us.

Had a great experience there this night Im sad i forgot the name of our server (she was training a new hitre) but she was phenomenal and very patient with a first timer. The food was great I ordered the deviled crab and clam strips both were great and the side dishes of mac n cheese and sweet potato bites were as equal quality. I would without a doubt revisit again and encourage any potential first timers to stop by.

Our wait and the beer was about the only good parts of our visit. Kitchen was beyond extremely slow the the food was just as bad. Wings were the only good halfway decent we had. Kids chicken tenders/fries, BLT/Fries, cheese fries, and chili cheese fries were all just bad. 1st visit here and probably the last. Weird dark atmosphere with some very odd music playing for the vibe of the place. Was hopefull for this place and wanted to like it but missed the mark.

Sat down and waited 10 minutes to get a drink, then another ten minutes to have our order take. Waited 40 minutes for food we never got. They gave a sorry excuse as to why it took so long.

Lil expensive for what you get. Kitchen goes to late night service a bit early for listed closing hours, plastic drink wear from the bar, and they were turning people away a full 40 minutes before they closed. We looked at our watches when they did.Our server was awesome - but management was almost hateful to him and others at times.I know everyone wants to go home... But damn.

My family loves Aw Shucks! The food is delicious, and my kids love playing the arcade games while we’re waiting. My husband and I love the seafood platter and burgers, and the kids loves the options for their kids meals. The owner is great, and has even given our kids extra coins to play with while waiting on dinner. Definitely a crowd pleaser!!!

Came into this place on a Thursday afternoon it was ok, the drinks were good, but seem like they had a little too much mixture in it. We ordered the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp, which was pretty good, and the Rockefeller oysters, which were delicious. And I would recommend we also ordered the calamari, beware the calamari is not all calamari its also, I believe green peppers that looked like calamari, I think they just use it as a filler, the place was festively decorated for the Halloween season, and it was a very nice atmosphere. Our waitress, who does not have a name plate, she wasnt a very welcoming person, to say the least. But she was attentive. Ive been told the place gets packed on certain nights and parking is limited. My experience was a good one.

Average to slightly below average. Would be 2 stars but I gave them an extra for the potential.The place has great potential that its not living up to. They were out of 2 items we asked for on the menu. I ordered Oysters as an appetizer. They tasted good but took forever to come out. The rest of the food came out very late. The food was okay. Waitress was friendly. I would probably not go again unless I was only doing Oysters and drinks at the Oyster bar.

This type of place is pretty much self-explanatory. Decent food and a decent place to grab a drink.

I will never be dining in this establishment again. I dropped both of my children off after getting them ice cream because of a passing of a family member and they said they were rudely turned around. They claimed a bald man in a blue shirt approached them with “what?” Instead of polite customer service response “Hello how may I help you?”. Getting the call from my children that this authority made them feel terrible and made a humongous scene all due to two bites of ice cream is absurd especially towards children. Aw shucks employment clearly is unable to handle situations in a good professional manner. If the situation was any worse I would have reported to corporate just to let the unprofessionalism be know at this establishment. Hopefully Aw shucks can get their management recycled and can get the professional atmosphere us local folks enjoy and need.

My friend Liz introduced me to Aw Shucks and Im really glad she did. Its laid back and southern seafood semi fancy and has great appetizers. Christy the bartender is just the sweetest and knows exactly what to suggest.

Great place for oysters and fresh seafood. Something for everyone here. Pool tables and arcade games. They have Gyros, Wings, Burgers and Sandwiches too. They have cool old stuff too. I collect old signs and cars, gas pumps and soda machines and candy machines so this place is right up my alley. It’s like I’m home and I like that. They have a Harley on display and a gas pump and a Coca Cola machine and candy machine. If your wanting great food or cocktails it’s a great place for the whole family. They have a full bar as well. I have been coming here for years.

My husband and I love this place - 2nd time to visit - good is outstanding - a great neighborhood bar and restaurant with a Cheers feel to it - everyone knows each others name - my husband has fried oyster and shrimp platter with cheese grits and slaw - delish and I had a cheese burger ( perfect medium) and homemade fries - everything was great - Thursday is bingo night - we enjoyed the fun of playing a few rounds - enjoyable evening

We have been to the restaurant several times and have really enjoyed it. This evening was terrible is the only word to say. What is going on there. I hope the owner and management can get it back together. This could be a gold mine. I hate to say anything negative about an establishment especially when one has such a great vibe and atmosphere but you need to get personal that enjoy to serve your guests and put out the best possible product. Very disappointing

Service. Not a smile. Food served after forty minutes and burger was in 3 pieces looked horrible. Oysters were shrimp and the batter was well over done almost black. The waitress put the plates down and turned around. We walked out.

I would say that for a Tuesday fight for JPA players, Aw Shucks would need to dedicate a better space for the players. The section where we play at is way too tight in space. Also some servers doesnt multi-task very well either.I love the food and the bar area. I think these improvements will help the organization a little more.

Lunch was good, the wings are good, service was good. But they could really use a remodel of the rest rooms. No paper on the towel holder, to dry your hands not very clean, kinda like a old bar, on a not so busy day.

Awesome food, awesome service from Joe, overall just a perfect atmosphere to relax and slow down to enjoy food and drinks. Extremely welcoming. Food was quick and staff attentive.

Came here on date night. Got there about 2.5hrs before close, hoping to get some food and play some arcade games. Place was dead as could be, and we were told the kitchen was already closed, but could play some arcade games. Played for about 20 minutes before we headed somewhere with food being served. Only reason I am leaving a 3 star is the waitress who went above and beyond to try to help us have a good time while we were there.

Absolutely horrible. The service was horrific, where our waitress had an attitude and barely came to check on us. She would walk past without ever acknowledging us, where I had to flag down another worker to take our order. We ordered the seafood platter and was, again, incredibly disappointed. The oysters were absolutely disgusting and then we found a hair in our fish. When having to flag down our waitress to inform her that the oysters were inedible and that there was excess from a human in our food, she possessed an irritated attitude and rolled her eyes, along with having an attitude worse than the group of high school students I teach. It was sent back and were not checked on for the next 15 minutes. To top it off, when we got the bill, we were then charged for the platter. Never again.

Seafood specials the potatoes were riding so I made the whole meal horrible and they tried to fix it by bringing me the same shrimps that there was came in the pot be for any corn that was in a pot before my boyfriend had the fried shrimp he said it was good but the seafood boil was horrible but the the sweet potato tots and the loaded potato was good and we had to fight Nets but the manager said they were fruit flies know the difference between fruit flies and nets wont be going back

Quickly greeted and seated in area of our choice. Server was prompt and attentive (but place was empty). Clam strips she ordered were good, as was my blackened shrimp. My green beans were extremely salty. Both of our baked potatoes were rolled in Kosher salt. I read this is supposed to help keep them moist? It definitely did not do that- the potatoes were very dried out, and the coating of salt prevented eating the skins, which we typically would do. Seems like aluminum foil may be a better option. Sports bar atmosphere- accent on BAR. The restaurant aspect seems like a secondary consideration.

Food, atmosphere, everything but the service was great. Our waitress was super nice but just seemed overloaded. Every aspect of our service was, outside of a friendly face, was not great. The food was amazing, prices were decent, although $18 for a dozen raw oysters is too much. We will go back

Slowest service ever. Waitress kept telling us that they had just got slammed and thats why it took 30 minutes to get oysters and beer. About 20 minutes into waiting she wanted us to order our dinner entrees, really?

The food was decent, but the server we had was basically non existant. It seemed she couldnt even speak. The manager and other servers assisted us and were very nice. The restaraunt has a cigarette stench that made my allergies go nuts.

They have a great Oyster Bar here. Nothing better than oysters and cold beer. But theyre also good for a quick lunch. They have a lunch menu that cant be beat. A different special everyday and I think the lunch menu was 799 possibly 699. I ordered steak in a sack with a baked potato and iced tea. And you have to try the sweet potato puffs. They melt in your mouth. I could hardly work when I went back I was so full. Definitely worth the try. And definitely worth the money. Theyre also good for drinks at night and its a great place to take a date
