This is a great place to be a part of nature with all of the convenience of smooth walking trails and shade. Learn about Houstons flood control system and watch the birds. Dont forget to pick up your trash!!

I have been exploring different walking trails in Houston during the last 3 weeks. This location has been my favorite so far. The view is gorgeous. There was also a natural breeze as I was walking, but still a very good work out because I was sweating at the end of the walk. Please check it out when you can!

A lovely bit of nature, plenty of birds, dragonflies. Plesant walk and its not all flat so that really adds a nice dimension. If you like birdwatching this would be a nice location to visit.

If you have never been and want to get your first look, and want to understand the trail system around this 6 retention pond nature venue, then I very much recommend the free 2 1/2 mile guided tour. The Metro 7 stops here, and there is some parking. However, be prepared for the fact that, currently, there is only 1 porta potty...out by the Gazebo. The trails are paved, dirt and gravel.Overall, a great place to walk and explore.

I love this little hideaway. The bluebonnets this past year were gorgeous, and now the fall foliage is setting in. A great place to get in a walk. Its always well maintained and quiet. Ive seen walkers picking up trash, which has motivated me to do the same. It would be best if people didnt litter at all, but until then we can all do our part to keep this park looking beautiful.

This park is a well kept secret of SouthWest Houston. Its tucked away behind Westburry highschool in a quiet neighborhood. Theres always been a special place in my heart for this park and especially now with social distancing. This park is a great escape to some beautiful views outdoors. ALSO: THEY HAVE BLUEBONNETS. I REPAT THEY HAVE BLUEBONNETS!

Willow Waterhole is a series of greenspaces firstly used as water drainage, to prevent flooding of the nearby neighborhoods. Secondly it serves as animal habitat and recreational space for the Westbury community- offering paved/dirt trails, picnic pavilions and nice views. There is ample parking for visitors. The trails are wheelchair accessible. Several geocaches are also hidden among the trees. Vibrant signage informs visitors of the history, foliage and animals that call this place home. I give it 5 stars b/c it is very accessible, well maintained and enjoyable to visit. You can easily walk, run or bike on the trails. There is also a variety of flat and elevated routes to choose from.My favorite part is the island. Around sunset, the yellow, orange and red colors on the water envelope you as you traverse the bridges and footpath. Also, there are very tall yellow sun flowers growing near the path, which blow in the wind and capture your eye with vibrant contrasting colors. My least favorite part about the greenspace is that you can see a concrete landfill if you look to the Southeast. It kinda sullies the overall natural beauty of the landscape.

I dont get it. As far a mud pits go its one of a kind. I parked on the south side but found no trails. Plenty of trash that was close enough to the bin that made it easy to collect and deposit. Where is the ampitheatre? Is it virtual or just a suggestion?

Really like this spot. Great for a short walk with my dog. Its not the most scenic park as it has some industry neighbors and some sort of recycling/landfill thing close by. Nothing that smells bad, just an eyesore. I still like this place a lot. Just wish the surroundings were nicer.

Near our house. We walk here occasionally. Its quiet and foot traffic is minimal. I like it for these reasons. But the water is murky and lots of bugs. I know its on water and mostly a swamp. But mosquitoes are awful out here. Bring bug spray!! And wear sunscreen if waking during sunlight. Not much shade.

Parking isnt well-marked and there isnt great tree cover, but the paths are well maintained and the space is pretty quiet despite being in a moderate traffic area. Its hard to beat Memorial Park or the Arboretum, but if youre on the Southwest side and dont want to fight 610 traffic, Willow Waterhole is a good option.

A nice getaway right in the city. Several large water retention ponds bordered with grease that are allowed to stay natural, for better wildlife support. More manicured closer to the waking paths around the ponds, so the view is nice. There are places to sit, some shade, a covered pavilion. Also music festivals in the spring, which will grow after a custom amphitheatre is finished.Parking situation is getting better-controlled.The Id also an active volunteer group that keeps an eye on things, coordinates with local authorities, and helps the improvements continue. Its a little-known gem in Houston.

This area is becoming a very welcoming place to visit. Its usually kept free of trash, etc. Nice layout for park areas. Lots of room to enjoy natural scenaries. I would like to see more parking areas. There are a few areas close by that seem not to be safe so i stay aware of activities around me when visiting.

A jewel in the heart of the community ties cultural diversity into one great example of people and green-belting progressing into the future. Willow Waterhole sets the stage for ideal natural ecosystems within an urban setting and beckons to other systems with identical characteristics. This type of greenbelting sets precedence for a dedicated intra-connecting network of hike and bike trails that is much needed in this city. This is the perfect place to get away from urban blight and unwind. Catch some fresh air, stop by any of the friendly local businesses, have lunch and take a walk. Im somewhere very close and appreciate the views. Now thats key to success. Location Location. Enjoy the breeze.
