The place itself is usually very nice! Ita great for walking around, and Hermann Park and the Japanese Garden are right by so you can visit. There are very little homeless and if there are any they dont bother anyone. The Pioneer Memorial Obelisk has some interesting history but I wont be coming anymore just to visit the obelisk since the meaning behind it is not the best.
Nice place, you can see few benches on both sides of the Jones Reflection Pool. Very relaxing and beautiful. The Pioneer Memorial granite obelisk, honors the early pioneers who founded Houston. The monument was placed in Hermann Park in 1936 to celebrate the centennial of Texas Independence.Location has a dedicated 3-hr parking area but it will fill up very quickly. Park has few restrooms and drinking water fountains.
The Obelisk was a symbol that Egyptians used to Honor the God RA. Romans began taking this Obelisk statue or sorts, back to Rome. Many cities around the world have adopted this practice to celebrate religious beliefs. America is no different. Obelisks represent Power, Beauty and the belief in a Devine God.
Not very cool,It was a waste of my time and there was no water to drink. The worst Place to live at i dont recommend.R.I.P Kobe
Nice place to relax with family and children from all city hustle and bustle, with a nice jogging track along the water.. with beautiful oak trees in surroundings and fountains. One can also enjoy peddle boating and fishing in the lake, you can also enjoy some wild squirrel playing arround the oak and Pam trees and children can enjoy beautiful species of ducks.
This is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend time with family or needing quiet time.
I wonder why on government monuments they always use Egyptian obelisk and reflector pools? What is there actual meaning?
Very relaxing place to escape the city.
I like this spot. Kids love to take pictures, play in the water fountains but, sometimes water stinks.
Cool monument that looks a lot like the washington monument!
Amazing place
