This was my first dinner cruise experience and i came away very impressed with their professionalism, great service, and Aloha spirit we were welcome with!We did the all you can eat crab legs and steak option and also had the window seat upgrade. The food was great and as a crab leg lover was very satisfied with their service on refills on the crab legs. The ship itself is amazing and has a great outer deck where we actually were able to see a few whales breaching during the cruise. They also have a upper deck with a smoking area which is a great spot for pictures! There is also live music throughout as well as show which was fun!All in all this was one of the more romantic experiences we did during out visit and would definitely do again!
Nice boat, lunch buffet is decent. Wish they were better at announcing the whale sitings. Best to go to top deck and just walk back and forth until you see them. Location is somewhat difficult to find. Should have better signs showing where youre located once people get to the tower you are supposedly located at.
A great organization to go whale watching with. There are 5 different levels to whale watch from from inside to upper outside decks. Not only did we see a few pods of whales we also say dolphins and a sea turtle. The views from the boat out at sea looking back at Honolulu are breathtaking. I highly enjoyed this whale watching cruise.
We treated our daughter and her husband to a dinner cruise on the Star of Honolulu. On the whole, the entire evening of fine food and continuous entertainment left us afterglowing from time well spent. This ship-size vessel has four decks and four dinner-cruise packages to choose from. We did the deck two buffet which featured dances from the Polynesian islands. I am still partial to the graceful hula. The ship plied its circuit to Diamond Head and back so smoothly that I forgot that we were floating. My favorite part was watching the sunset from the open top deck. My hat is off to the skilled guitarist/singer who kept the mood going through an incredible variety of songs.
First I must say that the food was great, and the entertainment on board was beautiful, and very entertaining. . . . but if you want to see a majestic view with your own eyes, then you MUST take this dinner cruise. . . . my pictures do little justice to the overwhelming beauty that I witnessed.
We really enjoyed our whale watching cruise. Saw many tails & blows but no full breaches. They have live entertainment while you are waiting to depart. The buffet meal was food with a large selection of foods & desserts. Hula lessons, lei making lesson & a very helpful staff. They provided water and have drinks for purchase as well. The parking lot is right in front of the Aloha Tower, it isnt marked well & if there are tour buses near the entrance you will miss the signs. We parked in pier #6 parking & just walked down to the boat. Make sure you take your parking slip to get validated discounted parking. Our parking was $24 before validation for approximately 3 hours of parking.
The dinner cruise doesn’t live up to it’s advertised value! We did the 3* dinner cruise which included a 5 course dinner. Poor food & drinks quality! Also disappointing sound system. Still enjoyable overall, because of the ocean and city views!
The food and service was great. They keeper you very much entertained the whole time . There are different food services. The one we had was a one star dinner with all you can eat crab legs. I would definitely suggest doing this cruise.
Friday night sunset & fireworks was a blast. The show on the pier gets you excited, and the live music and shows on board keeps the energy up. Every single employee or performer I met was SO kind and helpful. The sunset was gorgeous!! The fireworks were super cool to see. Tip: everyyyyone goes to the top deck for the fireworks which can make it tough to see if you dont go up early to get a spot along the edge (you wont be able to see them from any of the chairs once everyone is up there). Consider sitting on deck two outside the dining area starboard side. There are chairs along the edge and since everyone goes upstairs you should have a nice spot without a crowd. This was the cherry on top of a great trip. Thank you!
Loved the Mai Tai, food and the show. Everything was good! If youre not a fan of luau, you should at least go for a sunset dinner cruise with free show, you would enjoy it! The sunset view is amazing!
It was fantastic. However it was very hot, wish they had ceiling fans. The views were spectacular. Food was okay.
This was a great choice. The bus ride was easy, the boat wonderful and the staff beyond amazing. We had a awesome time on board. Saw many wahles and spinner dolphins. Made leis, did some hula dancing and the lunch was delicious. I highly reccommed taking this cruise, espically if you have youngsters or anyone with mobility issues.
Great views, okay food and drinks. Entertainment was pretty good.
So glad we booked this!! We did the Pacific star... buffet. Im a super picky eater and was very happy with the choices! The free mai tai was good, little watered down. So we bought a bottle of champagne, $30. We had great views, met some nice people seated next to us. Was a little rocky, but not too bad. The sunset of course didnt disappoint. It is buffet, but not for entire trip, was fine with us.The entertainment was cheesy at times, but made for good laughs. The dancers were decent, neat to watch. If we do this again I think well pick a different dinner option. For the price, we were happy.
Booked the Star of Honolulu for my boyfriends birthday and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the crab was all-you-can-eat. The views were beautiful and the staff was very friendly. The hula shows were entertaining and we very much enjoyed our time. Highly recommend.
Did the early bird breakfast whale watching cruise. We were very fortunate to have seen many sprays and views of dorsal fins from several pods of whales. The crew was great about describing where to see the whales. Between breaches, the conservation guide provided ample information about the whales, Hawaii itself and other bits about the wild life and landmarks.Wonderful view of the Honolulu/Waikiki skyline with diamond head in the distance. So for that; I give 5+stars.However, breakfast service was disorganized. The boat itself and the breakfast were marginal. The boat was dirty and dated. The food was terrible. Similar to what would be served at a low-end motel. Bad coffee and scrambled eggs.1-star.With that; I highly recommend doing the morning cruise to catch the whales. It was amazing.Just eat before you go and go just for the whales. Well worth it then!!
Its okay. If you like a cruise and just want to spend with your loved ones, should be okay. But nothing sort of ultimate experience. Food was okay and the dances provided there, are pretty basic. You can find much better dances at Waikiki mall.
Entertainment is really good and up close. Very different from all the land based luaus.Wished my pics turned out during the performances but my camera doesnt do close up action well. All you can eat crab gets very messy on crowded tables. Need buckets.
Ive used this cruise twice to go whale watching and have seen whales each time. Both times were in February. The crew is so nice and helpful. The second cruise we did we saw multiple whales breach and the captain said that was a once in a lifetime experience. We saw dolphins as well.
Absolutely wonderful time. Dinner was very very good. Complimentary beverages awesome. But the entertainment was the best part, very talented performers. Entire crew was very helpful, cheery, and welcoming.
I was in a whale watching tour. The size of.the bout can make you feel safe and comfort. But most of the time you just see the tails in a glance. Just relax and do not expect too much.
Top notch entertainment and excellent service! The seven course meal is fantastic! Great experience for special occasions!
Great dinner cruise . I took my parents who were visiting from the mainland. They loved it. However, it’s always a shot in the dark whether you see whales or not if that’s what you’re looking for.
I booked the 3 star dinner cruise for myself and husband. The whole experience itself was great, but the food sort of left it out a bit. It was a 5-course meal, but because there are hundreds of people on the boat, you can experience cold food. I never thought about, but it makes sense. Cheese and fruits from the first course was okay. Second course was a tradicional Hawaiian salad and it was also okay. The lobster course could have been better. My husbands lobster and mine was quite cold. None of us really eat that fearing of the worst could happen. The entree dinner (mashed potatoes and steak) was the best course. The steak was moist and tender, however, the mash potatoes was sort of missing something to make it full. The dessert and last course was also okay. nothing special to it I would say. The Friday fireworks lasted for about 5 minutes and it was nice. The best part in my opinion was the dance/luau part of it. Dancers were fantastic and the whole presentation definitely gave you the feeling of what Hawaii is about. 5 stars for the dancers without a doubt.
Great fun place to bring guests...good food and show...beautiful sunset views of Waikiki and Diamond Head
Crab legs were nice and fresh and best of all, all you can eat. Entertainment was okay, little hard to see depending on where your sitting. Sunset views and view of downtown Honolulu was awesome.
They should pay more attention with what they are cleaning the tables and unique and very beautiful cruise. since you are going to embark there is music and a modern and calm atmosphere. The service is very good. There are different activities. The beautiful sunset.
The whales were not active on this day. One whale was spotted coming up for air, barely touching the surface and went back down. Besides the whales, the weather was good and it was a nice day to be on a ship catching the scenery.
Great food! Seven courses, inexperienced staff but very pleasing and willing to help. The lobster was cooked perfectly, the filet mignon is sous vided to medium rare then seared. Perfect meal. Plus 6 mixed drinks per couple. Good dinner. Live entertainment.
Awesome dinner and entertainment, we upgraded one level and it didnt disappoint
We got the 3 star meal. Service and show were great, staff goes all out to make sure you enjoy everything. While the food was good but not the best, the breadsticks had the shape and texture of hot dog buns and there wasnt enough food for my liking. A good experience but an improvement could be made on the food for the price.
We did the whale watch it was awsome staff was wonderful
It was my first time to experience Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise. I had a fantastic time. My favorite part were the views. You would take lots and lots of photos. The buffet was good and the desserts were delicious. Also, the entertainment was fun!
Honolulu was very fun to go to for my first experience!! The tour guides were excellent the only place I was disappointed in was dolphin swimming!! No dolphins were out there to greet us and they should have known there feeding schedule they said we could come back with a free pass next time however I dont live in Honolulu so that will never happen thats very disappointing!!
Greatest experience of my life got engaged to the love of my life
A wonderful sunset cruise, sunset and show.
It’s a very romantic and cozy place, the food is tasty and a lot of food to choose. They have also an amazing performers that represents their culture. It’s also perfect time to wait for the sunset.
Had a wonderful experience..entertainment was amazing..friendly crew
This cruise has many attractive shows with story while you having a diner with sunset. I recommend you to have 3 star or more one.
Very nice dinner cruise thanks to the wonderful staff
The tour was great but the breakfast was very minimal.
If youre not on the top observation deck the entire time, or in the exact spot where the whales are, you wont see them. People were running all over the place to try to spot the whales. I get they cant contry where the whales are but a little understanding or halfway decent customer service would askedgave been great. I for a partial refund and they wouldnt even do that. Nice way to go in circles for two hours, but dont count on seeing whales. Get a smaller boat.
I wanted a 5 star experience for a cruise and certainly got it! A lovely 7 course meal after being greeted by the Captain, hula dancers dancing while people play on the ukelele, and a wonderful piano player setting the mood while we eat and bask in the sunset of Waikiki. The only thing I wish was different is I like my steak well done (such a crime, I know lol). Other than that, it was perfect.
Yummy food, awesome entertainment and super friendly staff. Laid back environment but still professional service.
Wonderful experience. Delicious meal. Beautiful sunset. Dont miss this!
Great food, great entertainment, good value! Have done it twice, would do it again.
The entire experience was first class. From the level of attention of the whole crew, the quality and presentation of the food and the entertainment of the jazz trio, there was nothing that could be improved. This was a total experience to be savored.
A great cultral cruise with a fine buffet and very good service with a smike
It is a great experience and the food was great. You have great views of Waikiki during the sunset cruise.
Great food and entertainment! Just make sure if you get sea sick to visit the deck. Also unlimited desserts is a major plus!
This cruise was AMAZING! All the snow crab legs you can eat!
Absolutely wonderful staff. Very inclusive and accommodating of all guests including children and those with special needs. They are also very considerate of the marine life which is important to me and my family. We did not purchase any of the food options so I cant comment on the meals but the drinks were refreshing and reasonably priced. Whale watching was amazing and the Hawaiian themed activities were very fun as well. We will certainly return whenever we are able to.
Our dinner cruise was amazing. We went for the top deck, a 7-course dinner of amazing, artistic and flavorful courses. There is an elevator if you cant do stairs.
Wow it was Awesome. The Star of Honolulu is a beautiful and elegant vessel. The crew was so awesome friendly and professional and the entertainment was top notch. I would give definitely rate this a 10 plus
I thought this was an excellent time. We booked last minute on our last day here, we were not disappointed. We had the all you can eat crab legs dinner, which also included some beef and other food as well. The food and show were great. It was well worth the money. They give you full range of the ship as well and had live entertainment the entire time.
Booked this for my wife’s birthday. Food was good and the entertainment was great. Would definitely do it again if I ever get back here
We were fortunate to see a mother humpback whale and her calf. The calf breached many times out of the water, which was a real thrill for us! The Captain navigated the waters well, ensuring we got the best views while also respecting proper distance for animal safety. The naturalist was very informative and hospitable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet too, which was served at the beginning of the trip so that there was plenty of time for whale watching.
Mitchell made our experience very fun and memorable. Great performance and a very friendly staff.
Singer, servers and dancers are great
Neat being on the water. The all you can eat crab was nice but the other food wasnt so much. Staff was super friendly
Lively crowd and staff is all smiles and verry helpful. Berry nice night. Thank you staff.
At first I was a little skeptical as I purchased the tickets on TravelShack. When we got there it was pretty easy to find the check in as the workers where there to greet you. Going onto the boat was great! It was huge and there where a lot of hula dancers there to make the ambiance super fun. The food was super great but wish there was a bit more as I was still a little hungry after finishing everything. Another small note but definitely didn’t change how great the experience was is the main course came out about 30min before the sunset so it was hard to go out to take some pictures while not having to rush dinner itself. The staff were super nice and overall it was a great experience and very worth it!
Excellent for the price. Great food, way above expectations, great music. Would recommend the 5 star for couples.
Got to do lunch and see breaching whales. The Star of Honolulu has a guarantee to see whales!
A very cool experience! Great service. The dancers are amazing!
This was definitely worth it. First time in Hawaii and love it every one very friendly and the show was awesome.
Fantastic night out and dinner.I proposed to my now fiancé on the night we went out and the band, hosts and guests were all very enthusiastic and supportive.Thank you all for making our night.
Awful for the price. All you can eat crab is a farce. Got 1 extra serving of crab before dessert came. Not worth the price. Should have just did the buffet.
Fun evening with great food.
Not a lot of options for the menu but a great time
Very ordinary for the prices they charge. The wife and I went on their Three Star Sunset Dinner & Show cruise. When we got on it was warm and humid on board, I did not notice any air conditioning or fans to cool people down. The waiter serving us was literally sweating. The boat looks dated and needs refurbishment. They started us off with a glass of not cold champagne. The entrees were simple, the lobster was not very tasty, and the steak was a little rubbery, the dessert was ok. This is a very large boat, so I suppose when cooking for a thousand people or more its difficult for the chefs to give each meal proper attention. The show was good, but not great. The views were nice. The fireworks on Friday night are underwhelming. Overall a reasonably ordinary experience. If youre on a budget you can probably do better things with your money.
What an epic! It was one of the best memories I got while travelling in Honolulu. The food was great and staff were very kind and sociable.Id like to recommend this activity to people who want something special.I saw two dolphins/whales swimming quite fast, which was awesome!
We booked the casual donning with all you can eat crab legs. The bus transfer was good and on time and the whole evening for that matter ran like clockwork. Upon arriving we had the first course waiting on the table... a bunch of lettuce and a sliced tomato was the salad which was a little underwhelming for the cost, it was accompanied by a bun and a pastry garnish. Service of food was quite slow and heard a few people around us waited more than 30min for drinks. Main was really good and you literally get all you can eat crab legs. The interior of the ship is a little dated. Overall we felt a little disappointed in the evening.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The waitress was super nice. The “7 course meal” was nothing. The food was cold and tasteless. We paid $150 per person and I would of paid maybe $40. Not to mention they charge for a picture they took with the captain (optional) which was $27. All the courses where small and I left the cruise hungry. I recommend making a night in Waikiki for cheaper and would of been more fun. Great staff I can’t take that away from them. Not worth the money.
We made a reservation over the phone at the Star of Honolulu. The one who received the call is so nice and easy to talk to and it turns out exactly how exciting it was during our stay at the ship. We went in the morning for the morning whale watching and then had our breakfast. We are so lucky we saw 2 whales! We had a great time at the ship and will definitely return.
Excellent service and the staff seemed GENUINELY EXCITED about being here. A must event for vacation!
Great experience, hopefully you catch a great sunset and fireworks on friday gives it a special touch! Service was great and food depends on what kind of package you purchase.
Very well run. Boat can be crowded but it is s popular thing to do. Food was decent but not outstanding. Service was excellent
We enjoy the Star of Honolulu whale watching. We go ever year whether we need to or not. It is relaxing and a good time for all. We prefer to eat elsewhere, and just enjoy the cruise.
Really good well worth the money. Entertainment was spot on. The performers interacted with the guests and did at least 3 different styles of dance. Glad I booked and came on this cruise!
My husband and I did the cruise for our anniversary. The best part about this was the service. The staff was amazing. We choose the 7 course meal. Before we even boarded there was staff outside. The food was good. the only complaint I have is the beef. It tasted amazing however it was rare and I did not even eat the entire meat because it was too pink for my liking. That was the entree portion and it sort of felt like I waited to not enjoy that part. I heard there is a chicken or fish option for someone who doesn’t want the beef. We left so full and more than happy with the live entertainment. I highly recommend trying this cruise out. It was well worth it. The desserts were amazing. I loved the gelato. The lobster was also very good.
The Best, Thank You For Everything ️
Brandon our tour driver was absolutely exceptional! Gave us great history along the entire ride to our destination Wild Dolphin Snorkel & BBQ. His excellent service and driving should be the standard for all drivers. We will always recommend this tour service.
Love to see the whales. Food is excellent.
It wasnt that great experience.i booked 3stars for my family but it wasnt worth spending that much money and time...our sever was so rude and sevice was slow and terrible.food and drink was cheap.Too Japanese friendly.it was unpleasant experience as an foriengn tourist..Not recommanding.
Great way to view the Waikiki Sunset and take in island entertainment. The crew was great. Food was excellent. Recommend!
Awesome food, great service and the show is pretty spectacular. I definitely recommend trying it out.
My husband loves experiences over food so for his birthday, I booked a dinner cruise. We went on a Friday night (specifically to watch the fireworks) and arrived at 4:45 when the ship was starting to board and the ship-side show was starting. We didnt have a problem finding parking and it was validated and only cost $8.I got the 5 star option and it was wonderful from beginning to end. My husband didnt know where we were going so when he realized we were getting on the ship he seemed so pleasantly surprised. When we got on the ship, we were escorted to the elevator and up onto the ships top deck for a non-alcoholic bellini and some appetizers. We went into the ship and were escorted to our table. I was worried because in the pictures and other reviews, it said that the tables were really close together. We found the table size to be fine. I bought celebration package, which costed $30 extra per person but it guaranteed us a private window seat. Im glad I did because the banquet seats in the middle were a lot more cramped and we would have had to sit with strangers so it would have dampened the romance factor. The meal was pretty good. I was worried that my husband would still be hungry because its fine dining so the portions are small but my husband was satisfied. He doesnt eat seafood so I substituted chicken for the lobster, which was easy to do when I booked. The tenderloin was so soft that it literally melted in my mouth! The drinks were not very strong but definitely tasted good. Our server made sure that we always had a drink, which was great. The view of the sunset and fireworks were amazing! We took a picture with the captain which they gave to us for free at the end of the cruise. It came in a hard cover album type frame.During dinner, there was a hula show, which was touristy but good. After dinner, there was a jazz trio. They invited everyone to dance, which we did.I thought it was pricey, but for what you get, I feel that it was more than worth it! You get a 7 course meal, 3 drink tickets each (for either alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks so use them for the alcohol and pay for your sodas to get the best deal for your money), a keepsake photo, multiple shows (there was the ship-side show, the show on deck at the captains reception, the hula show during dinner, and the jazz show), and most of the top deck is reserved for 5 star guests so watching the sunset and fireworks was comfortable, despite there being 1000+ people on board. My husband said it was the best date wed ever been on and I agree! We will definitely do it again for another special occasion. We will likely take our kids to do one of the other packages because there were many couples on the 5 star deck who were celebrating and I wouldnt want to ruin their experience scolding my loud and excited kids.My only complaint is that before we left the harbor, I was seated on the west side of the ship and it was really hot with the sun beaming through the window.
Star of Honolulu is great. Staff is wonderful - this trip Mitchell, Joel, Chris, & Jade were attentive and cheerful (despite rough seas). Beware - Joel likes to photo bomb!
I must say my husband and I throughly enjoyed this cruise. The staff on the cruise was terrific. We encountered Jenna and she was so friendly and helpful.
Had a great time was able to see some whales
A lovely evening
I went on a morning Whale Watching tour with my partner and it was okay. The staff of the boat were very nice and very helpful. The Whale Specialist they brought on board was very informative and open to questions from everyone as well as very good with the children on the boat. We paid for the breakfast with our tickets as my partner said the site had mentioned vegan options which apparently means fruit (maybe the buns but doubtful they were dairy free) and black coffee. NOT ACCEPTABLE if you are claiming Vegan Options as vegans cant eat dairy so that ruled out the cereal options, muffins and most likely buns too which only left fruit, eggs and meat only one of which vegans can eat. There was a few more options for vegetarians as which was nice. Although we didnt get to see any whales the staff mentioned that they would be giving vouchers for another tour for next whale season if we wanted and we did get to see a sea turtle and a couple pods of dolphins which was pretty cool.
I wasnt over the moon on this experience. The server was nice. The food was ok/good. The dancers were very good, but the show was a bit cheesy. The other guests were rude (jumping up in the middle of the show to take pictures with dancers). The views were beautiful. The ship was solid and well staffed.May or may not do it again.
It was simply amazing! Went on the early bird tour and got to see a small pod of whales Really hoped one would breach, but had no luck on seeing that happen. Though the whales did come up to surface to exhale. It was just spectacular
The dancing is good, but food just so so .
I was treated like a movie star on the top VIP floor... The entire floor of employees were A+.. Encluding Kevin for my bartender who is on top of his drinks and cpt. Mike who gets u back safe .. So I wanna say thanks to the entire crew on the ship.. I loved every minute of it...
Great show, good crab legs amazing sunset view.
