Easy hike with paved trail. Very pet friendly, seen a lot of dogs on this hike. If you have a bad heart or difficulty breathing, you may have to stop every 5 minutes or so. There are several trails off of the main trail which will lead you up to some other abandoned bunkers. There are several spots where you can sit and take a breather before continuing. There are no bathrooms, so make sure you take care of that beforehand. Also, pack water since there are no water fountains here either.

Came to this set of trails on the last day i was in Hawaii. Even the drive down was filled with gorgeous views of the coastline. The sun was setting as we walked up to the top of the trail, and sunlight bathed the coast with golden rays as the ocean rippled alongside the mountains and covered everything your peripherals could gather. Truly a remarkable place, to say the least.

Such a beautiful place to hike, swim, and just relax with friends and family.

This was a really good, easy trail with an amazing view. There is also a nice beach if you take a right at the very beginning. There are lots of lookout points throughout the hike. Parking is kinda limited considering how many people are usually there and there are no restrooms there so be sure to plan ahead. The first half of the hike had little to no wind while the second half had lots of wind and feels amazing.

Breathtaking view of the ocean and island as youre driving. Fun cruise in the car with the winding road. Be sure to stop to step out for pictures and to enjoy the view.

Really enjoyed this hike with my 6 and 7 year old kids. The view was breath taking and there were plenty of rest stops along the way with fantastic views to marvel. Recommend bringing sunscreen because the trail can take some time at roughly 2.5 miles in length.

This height has an amazing view. The trail is family and pet-friendly. The only issue is at everybody wants to go so the parking can be a little chaotic.

Anyone visiting/vacationing in Oahu Hawaii should rent a car for a day and drive the perimeter of the island and stop at all the scenic points and beaches. Breathtaking views, beautiful water and peace of mind.

Really beautiful scenery. Paved, gradual incline, but tough unless youre in good shape. Try to go when the sun is not blazing. We could see molokai, which is 26 miles away, on the clear day. Bring a hat, sunscreen, WATER. There are trash cans available on the hike.

Beautiful area to walk/hike around on. Dramatic surroundings, volcanic rock paths.Even with the rain the path was pretty well used by many visitors.Took the ridge line walk rather than the shoreline due to the high waves. Even with the low tide one can get thoroughly soaked if not careful. Rocks are slippery, good gripping shoes advised for shoreline trail. Barefoot shoes are good with vibram soles.Count the waves and trek after the 5th to save you soaking. The tidepools are good for soaking in when weather allows it. Look out for humpback whales.

Surprised to find the Light house so short, but if you build it in a perfect spot, location, location, location.

Kaiwi State Scenic Shoreline has great views of the Oahu coastline and the Makapuʻu Lighthouse. The Makapuʻu Lighthouse Trail is two miles (round trip).

Beautiful views including beaches, cliffs, tide pools and a short manageable paved trail to a lighthouse. Good spot for sunrise and probably sunset as well.

Saw a wildfire today, otherwise the scenery was breathtaking.

Great hike in a clear day. Hike takes about 40 minutes. Parking lot is a issue.

Despite the traffic, worth the trip. Scenery and natural wonders to marvel the most jaded. Whales and seals make the trip intriguing and tunnels, trails and blow hole add to the excitement.

View is mind blowing. Magistic shoreline, crashing ng waves and breadth taking costal slopes. nary. You will find multiple vista points on your way. If lucky you may find places with actual photo-shoots in progress. Be careful while you go down the slope near to the cost line. Slopes becomes slippery after quick showers.This can be a quick stop while you are traveling to next destination. No availability of restrooms.

A perfect hike for families. Easy enough for children, paved for strollers, and incredible views of the bay.

The experience is beautiful everyone should try it at least one if they come to visit Oahu.

This whole coastal drive is a must-do for first timers to Oahu. Its beautiful.Im a road cyclist and I would love to ride my bike through here - the roads are narrow and windy though and lots of tourists reading reviews (like this one) on their phones while driving so watch out.

February is three perfect time to spot whales along the trail!

This was so much fun there is a party of 11 of us. I would suggest going earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon when its not so hot because it is a hike up and if youre not used to it you could get quite tired. The views are absolutely spectacular definitely worth the hike and theres lots of drop-off places where you can go look at other things. If you are willing to take the hike down part of the mountain theres little like in lap pools that you can swim in we couldnt take our little girls down there but definitely something to try out one day when our daughters are a little older. the lighthouse view is really cool shows and clearly has some history behind it. At the top of the walk there is a plaque describing what some of the soldiers sacrificed and when its definitely worth getting up there and looking at.

Its been my familys favorite hike since my sons were young. The path is paved, the scenery is breathtaking !! You see Gods creation, such beauty and splendor You definitely want to take water you will be thirsty depending on the season you can even see the whales

Outstanding and easy hike anytime, world class views

Beautiful coastline. Lots of scenic outlooks along the way. Easy drive, and worth it. Round trip with lots of stops took us about 3 hours. Couple of small towns along the way. Couple of hiking trails that look good, one takes you over the hill and right into coast. Lots of warning signs but lots of cars in parking lot sp must be popular.

Went here for Alan Davis Beach, a very non-tourist beach frequented by the local population. A secluded, volcanice sand beach with a large natural pool that has diving boards shoved into the walls. Takes about 10-15 minutes to hike to from the parking lot. Small beach, a little bit of litter but great views and fantastic swimming.

Very beautiful place near the coast. The street is really good so you can go with small children in a baby car. In the middle of the hike you can find a Lighthouse and see the whales from the top. It was an amazing experience to see them in their natural habitat. We thought about going down throw the waterloos but we could find the way, later we got to know from a local that that way in to climb down the rocks, which would be too risky. So we were not sad that we couldnt find it. If you are in Oahu is a very good sightseeing, not as difficult as the diamond Head but very beautiful as well!

Get ready to walk, pretty view

A very popular hiking spot among the tourist. Its paved all the way to the top. Its not too hard a hike but be hydrated and dont carry to much with you. Its easy to get dehydrated and dizzy while walking up. Its about a mile and a half in a semi steep incline on asphalt up to the lookout. REMEMBER: DONT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR. THERE ARE A LOT OF BREAK INS AT THIS PARKING LOT. Dont go far off the trail there have been a lot of accidents and some deaths by people going off the trail and getting into trouble. Almost all of the dead and injured are tourist who just love to ignore signs. You can take a chance and our fire department will retrieve your body, make sure the address on your ID is updated so they can send your body home.

Beautiful place for watching sun rise. At a lookout, it even has binoculars. With clear weather you may see Molokai from there.

Park here to hike the Makapuu Lighthouse trail. No public restroom. This is a popular hike and the lot can be crowded.

Driving this and then walking up to Makapuu Lighthouse is a great way to take in the scenery. Its a great walk for just about anyone. One of the few truly easy trails on Oahu. Other hikes rated easy are likely to frighten inexperienced visitors.

Its the Makapuu Point walk. Great area for a walk to see Molokai island, Rabbit island, Waimanalo, Kaneohe/Kailua side. The walk took almost an hour, no public restrooms, first come first serve parking. No vending machines, BYOW, animals allowed and pick up after them too please. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the sunrise, a fast suntan, sweating, bike ride, bring your kids on a stoller, and learn about the trail itself since its historic.

Semi interesting, hot, dry shoreline with jeep trails and rugged coastline. The lighthouse trail is better.

About an hour walk from the parking lot to the top

Parking is a mess but the hike is great and they are working on building a rest stop too. Great views!
