Great Vista views of the ocean. Free to park and take a bunch of snaps. Nice photo stop. Can walk up and down the road to get different parts of the coast. If youre into surfing you can watch surfers or follow one of the paths down to the shore to join. Just ask one of the many locals that are probably also there to catch the waves for more detailed directions.

This is a MUST do if you are visiting the island of Oahu. Gorgeous views throughout the short 45-60 min round hike. Can be somewhat challenging depending on fitness level but there are plenty of rest areas which also have amazing views. Take your time, stay hydrated and soak up the scenery

$5 parking and there may be a line to wait for a spot, although the line moves pretty quick. Or if you can find parking before the tunnel you can pay $1 to walk in. If you go around noon there will be more parking spots because people are leaving for lunch. The walk up to summit is very easy, the summit view is amazing but its a very crowded tourist spot.

The steep climb is definitely worth it when you get to the top and take in the breathtaking views of Waikiki! You walk through a tunnel to get to the base of the Diamond Head. Pedestrians need to pay $1 for an entrance fee. Inside, theres also a pineapple truck selling amazing, fresh pineapple; dole whip; and much more!

Difficult hike, but worth the view. Lots of other tourists, but didnt ruin the experience. Maps says. 8 mile walk, but it feels like much much longer because the incline is steep. Beautiful views worth the hike.

This was a pretty easy hike, but we came in the early morning when the dew makes everything a little slippery. Its very vertical. Theres one moment where you walk through a short tunnel. Not knowing how long it would be and not being able to see the light at the end of it made me a bit anxious and claustrophobic, but its very quick. Im just a worrier when it comes to not knowing.Once you get to the top, its beautiful. You can see for miles and its a view thats unlike any other. you can see all around from the ocean to the mountains.I saw some people wearing flip flops up to the top and I cant recommend that. You really need a good pair of tennis shoes to hike this comfortably. While it is somewhat paved, there are a lot of areas that are a little bumpy and one bad slip and you can scrape yourself up pretty good.Definitely worth checking out if youre in the area!!

What are the most beautiful places in the world for me. It is peaceful and serene and not many people especially in the morning except the locals exercising. You could also get a wonderful view of the regular surfers and there is a new paved path it was never there before so it makes it easier to get down to the beach. The surfing is definitely not for amateurs because it is rough and there are several wreaths in the area but one of the beautiful places. Also there is a lighthouse that you can see this also very beautiful.

This short 1hr hiking will get you a breathtaking view of the island. The trail is not paved so could be rough time to time and there are some steep stairs but anyone should be able to do it. $1 entrance fee is required per person (cash only).

Its a great view. Only 30 minutes hike to top, every second is worth it once you reach up the top. Try to be get there as soon as it opens at 6:00 am so you can see the Sun rising from the Sea. Lot of visitors at that time so grab the best seat where you can take lot of pictures. Make sure you wear good shoes due to rain hiking can get slipy and dangerous.

Basically an overlook with a gorgeous veiw!!! Plenty of parking and a great photo op. I suspect for surfers this is a good spot (saw approx 10-12), but it looks like very treacherous trail(s) down to the beach. I would call them NOT maintened trails and there are big yellow signs that say DO NOT GO PAST WALL.

Scenic, pleasant, relaxing wonderful lookout place, with views of Honolulu, mountains, Diamond head park, Pacific Ocean etc. Worth to hike to this lookout, little strenuous but you wont regret. Definitely recommend this place. I would not recommend peep who have Knee joint arthritis or moderate back/spine problems, for everyone else, its a wonderful hike.

The Diamond Head lookout is absolutely amazing. The hike is not super difficult, but make sure to bring sunscreen, a hat and lots of water when youre hiking it (especially if its super hot out). At the top, you can see all of Waikiki along with so much else. Its really spectacular! You wont regret it!

Love, love, love it!!! Top of the world type of place. Absolute must when in Oahu. It took us about half an hour to hike up, although be prepared for an hour/hour and a half (thats what they tell you at the entrance), depending on your speed and how crowded the hike is. Bring lots of water and sunscreen! Make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the views - there are couple of different lookouts and the views are just breathtaking. For $1 entrance fee you will get beautiful panoramic view of Waikiki, which is pretty much the same from helicopter, which costs couple hundred :) The park opens at 6am and closes at 6pm so be sure to come early! Also, if you are claustrophobic - dont go by yourself! In couple of places the tunnels get really narrow and this might feel uncomfortable.

Incredible view of the Honolulu coastline. Went there at 6:00am when the sun was rising, it seemed like a tradition by many to sit there peacefully and watch the sunrise. Dozens of surfers greeted the waves in the near dark. Really great experience, but there were some very persistent flies that buzzed around us and some red ants that crawled (but didn’t bite).

The highlight of my trip to O’ahu! It was absolutely packed once we got on the trail, which made it tricky, but for the most part it flowed well. I love that there are so many spots where you can look out. The path is mostly uneven, good shoes are a must. Take the no-stairs route, it is still tiring, but not so much that you can’t enjoy the scenery. The stair path is dark and enclosed, and doesn’t have much of a view.

Relatively easy hike if you want a view of Waikiki. The hike itself has a well-worn trail winding up Diamond Head with handrails. If you don’t like enclosed spaces, you might not appreciate the long, dark narrow tunnel near the top, but you can pass through it pretty quickly if you don’t have slow pokes in front of you. The top itself can be crowded with tourists getting their selfies. It’s a tiered concrete platform surrounded by railings so a couple dozen or so people can fit somewhat comfortably there. Thankfully, most people know to move along. There are other places besides the very top that make for good photos.

During our tour of Honolulu, we stopped at the Diamond Head (Lē‘ahi) lookout, on the eastern edge of Waikiki’s coastline.Diamond Head is known for its historic hiking trail, stunning coastal views, and military history, the Monument is on 475 acres, including the interior and outer slopes of the crater.A broad, saucer-shaped crater formed 300,000 years ago during a single, explosive eruption that sent ash and fine particles in the air.Materials settled, cemented together into a rock called tuff, creating the crater, visible from the trail in the park. From the lookout we could see all Honolulu, Waikiki Diamond Head and the gorgeous beach below...Dont miss it, worth every second you get to spend there!

Review №89

Its well maintained BECAUSE you have to pay a dollar per head to enter the park. We arrived mid morning and the parking lot was full. There was a line of cars waiting for others to leave so they could park. We just went back down to the farmers market lot and parked for free, then hiked up. We saw people still waiting in line for a spot when we returned a half hour later. There are always people climbing over the Do not climb over signs, which destroys the look of the summit. Some pathetic people have left their trash at the top or along the trail.Ive always been enchanted by Diamond Head and knew Id never go there. But we made it to Oahu and had to make the hike. Im 60 and not in the best shape, so I went slowly, stopping when I needed to at wide spots in the trail. It took 35 minutes to hike up. It took 25 to waltz down. Thats from the car at the distant parking lot.Take water. Take water. Take water. Perhaps some protein like cheese sticks and lunch meat. Im bald and I wore a hat, which helped a great deal. Its worth doing to say you did it.
