Had a very bad morning coming here only because I went to drop off my son to Love A Keiki School which happens to be in the very same parking lot as theirs. This man comes walking towards me saying it’s prohibited even though I wont take long, just dropping off my kid. I know its contracted that way that we can’t park at your lot but this man could’ve just said it NICELY that “oh next time, please dont park there” or something.. geez!!!I believe in that temple giving good luck charms but he just shared the devil today.Probably waking up to the wrong side of the bed.Sorry to say. Where is the ALOHA??!! SMH ️
Always have what I need for car, travel, etc and love their good luck charms. Just make sure you have small bills to pay for your items.
Been coming to Hatsumode (first temple visit of the year) at this temple for several years now and I can say this is my favorite temple.[TIPS]+ If you are able to try to go early. We tend to go at midnight ever year to beat the crowds. I have seen photos of long lines but not as long as the lines for the one in Chinatown.+ They still serve Ozoni (Japanese New Year mochi soup) at certain times. There is a box to leave a monetary donation if you choose to.[PARKING] This year the off site parking was at Farrington High School with shuttles to the temple. Past years it was at Damien and Honolulu Community College so its always good to check ahead of time before going down. Its also nice that there was a police officer also present at the Farrington parking lot.
A much appreciated escape providing respite that inspires often neglected reflection and thoughtful awareness
Another must see location. Valley of the temples. Food, restroom very interesting scenic attraction. 1-hour stop.
Always calming and quaint. One of my favorite places
Nice temple and history. Grounds were nice and serene.
I visited on New Years Day. I could buy a Japanese-made Hawaii exclusive amulet here.
Always go to church on New Years Day. Hand in the omamoris from the previous year. This tradition has always been completed annually. Drink sake and enjoy ozone soup. Pick up new omamoris for the house and cars.
Very historic place with a Karate Dojo.
Very lovely and very nice
Plain rude. Would give it zero stars if I could.
New Year blessing as in Japan
