What fun!!! The park had a nice number of visitors! There were fans and cooling stations all throughout. Lots of giant umbrellas to give extra shade! People, of all ages, were having a good time enjoying the sights! Water fountains are turned off though...so plan for that before you come. It was a great morning!!!

I enjoy taking my daughter to Kamper park. She loves coming down the slides and running around. I like the scenery. It is a good park in town

I mean, its got grass, trees, very few hostile geese... Hits all the necessary requirements. Beautiful playground equipment, too.

The kidlettes love this park. It is highly maintained and the traffic (child count) stays relatively low. It is the perfect park for kids of the younger sizes 2-5 and for bigger kids too 6-9ish. Bathroom facilities, swings, acres of manicured fields, local biking trails in/near the nearby woods, and disc golf adjacent the property. There is a smaller secondary park across the highway (geared toward 4+) that is a great overflow playground, field, parking, etc.In the early mornings the park is usually very clean. The ground crew mow early and frequently and are usually done by about 9am or so. Occasionally a raccoon or two will get in the garbage, but very very rare. Not a ton of seating, so bring a chair or blanket. Also, if anyone reading this happens to have a spare plastic steering wheel, the park is missing two childs play steering wheels.Oh hey, almost forgot; on one occasion, someone dumped a truck load of used tires in the nearby creek adjacent the pedestrian bridge. Not an issue that is too alarming for the Southside of DSM, but I here is the kicker; on a separate occasion (unrelated), open alcohol containers and an alarming number of crushed pills and residue were left on the green table under the walkway. So thats a thing .Mosquitoes too.Lastly, make sure to assess the stacked hexigons as they accumulate water after rainfall. Just FYI.99% of the time this park is great. Give it a shot.

Great place to have a picnic and let kids enjoy the playground equipment. Avoid it near closing time though as some shady-looking and/or disruptive people sometimes show up right before the park closes.

Wonderful park to take the kids! If you live in midtown its likely youre within walking distance (or a very short car ride). Theres a field nearby for Frisbee, etc. And the zoo borders it which makes it a good place to visit before and/or after a zoo trip. My only complaint is the the play area is in need of mulching. Water stands and gets muddy after rains. A great asset to the area.

Wonderful shaded park for kids to place, zoo and train. Nice and not expensive. Only problem we had was the zoo and train close too early (430pm). Had a great time, even have a big pavilion for parties or family get togethers and lots of picnic tables under trees. Beautiful

Broken equipment on the playground. Theres a pipe sticking out of the ground from a broken step stool. If a child falls on that, it could be very bad
