Amazing place to hike near and far, do some fishing, have lunch, or just hang out and enjoy nature. Parking is plentiful with the roads, markers, and trails kept up nicely and with care. This is a great spot to come with the kids for the afternoon that isnt too far of a drive out of town. Parking is $5/car and $7/bus, with card or exact cash taken at the machine. Visit Metros website for free parking days throughout the year or to get a $40 yearly parking pass, which is what we are planning on after just one afternoon spent here with the kids.

Absolutely gorgeous! Had trouble fishing. Wanted to just sit back and enjoy the scenery. A must visit!

A beautiful park with some excellent trails and quiet spots.

Used to love this place. Sadly the river has washed away alot of trails over the years. They do try to rebuild new trails just to have them wash away too. They built a welcoming center. Its a joke. Mostly office space. Not really anything to see.

Absolutely beautiful. Exactly the kind of escape my family needed from the busy day to day. The trails were easy enough that my 15 month old could walk with minimal need to be carried. Do not recommend bringing a stroller. Plenty of access areas to the river. Quiet and peaceful

Great place near Portland for either a day trip or camping. The river is slow moving in several spots and theyve got plenty of life jackets, so its a great spot to take the kids for swimming. The water access areas do get a bit crowded, so choose your spot carefully (especially now, during COVID-19). Lots of shaded hiking trails to take in the first, as well. Id recommend bringing along mosquito repellent for those, at theyre pretty shady with some wet areas.

Beautiful view not far from Portland. If for some reason you ride a bike there (plausible) it’s steep riding home though. The river is beautiful.

A true hidden gem! Not too far away from town makes it an easy get awayThe staff were all friendly and helpful. The only negative for us was the maintenance man using a leaf blower Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning. We went for peace and quiet. Wasnt enough to keep us away but a bit disappointing.

Best kept secret. Deep in a canyon oh, good for a hot day. Clean and well-kept. River is not too scary for little ones.

Very clean, quiet park. More family centered than for young, single adults. A little bit strict on their rules: no alcohol, no pets, quiet time strictly enforced at 10pm, and the park is patrolled every hour. They only accept card payments for firewood purchases; first time that I have ever run into that situation. Overall, though, a nice park with quick access to the river.

Beautiful park, well maintained! My only complaint is the equestrian parking. It’s at the end of a pothole, hilly road with a turnaround at the end and the park wants you to park with your truck & trailer on a hill. Which then you end up unloading, tying, and tacking your horse up on the road with cars driving by and a water ditch on one side. If you have a reactive horse this is an unsafe situation. I cannot guarantee my horse(s) will be quiet 100% of the time, they are flight animals after all. There should be an exception for trailers to park on the roundabout where it’s flat. A car still has PLENTY of room to turn around if the driver knows how big/long their car is.

Peaceful.. perfectly cool on a hot day.. Therapy when you cant afford actual treatment.. Lots of private spts for fun.. Water is always clear.. Were lucky to have it!

Absolutely Beautiful place. Hike and swim lay in the sun. Play in the sand with the kids. Lots of little nooks the kids can play in.

Its nice, get there early if u dont want to wait in line for an hour. They run out of spots after about 12. Be prepared to carry your stuff as they can be strict about unloading in the fire lane near where u will be hanging out.

Lots of nice gentle trails and river access. Unfortunate that other rec and park passes dont work here.

We visited Oxbow Park to fo some fishing, got there around 6:00pm. Found out yhey are closing at 7:00pm due to Covid-19. Spoke with a ranger, very nice and helpful. Drove us to the spot we were looking for and we fished for about half hour. Everyone we encountered were so friendly. We will be back for sure. Looked like some great swimming holes as well.

Soooo we just tried going to this place. And we could not find it. When it said we arrived there was this very narrow drive way. And there was a gate locked. We couldn’t get in. So I would love to know how to get there. Lol

You can hike, head down to the river, have a picnic, my family and I love to visit.

This part of oxbow is beautiful, but the sun doesnt stay on the side you park long. No animals, pay to park.

Serene, lush green and chilly in April for camping. But, a beautiful spot, well worth an overnight stay or day trip. Plenty of picnic spots and hiking trails. Next to the river, birds all around, definitely worth taking your binoculars!

I got married at Oxbow Park so I am quite biased on my review, but I have recently gone back under alot less pressure of a Wedding, (and believe me the Park accommodation made us feel like it was our park), I got to see more of the fishing, camping, hiking and water adventures they offer! They have some of the greatest camping grounds and prices in Oregon!

Great place for a day trip for the whole family. It has multiple playgrounds and play structures, nature trails, and access to the Sandy River. They have a no pets policy to protect the multitude of plant and animal wildlife in the area. No alcohol is also the rule and they do patrol for this. Campgrounds are well maintained but be aware some sites are smaller than others and only have room for one or two tents. If you are a light sleeper be sure to bring earplugs as airplanes fly over frequently due to proximity to the Portland International Airport. For large groups there are reservable sheltered day use areas and also group camp areas. If conditions are good you may see salmon in the water, even the occasional sturgeon. Water is cold, deep and swift in areas so be careful. Cell signal is spotty thoughout the park, but why would you need that when you have nature all around? Enjoy!

We parked by the boat ramp and set up our spot on the sandy beach. It was a lovely day even if the water is still a little cold. Bathrooms with soap for washing hands and at the top of the hill. One (!?) picnic table in the shade but plenty of sunny open areas for fun. My phone had no service at Oxbow, my carrier is t-mobile.

Beautiful park, worth the $5 entry fee, but be warned, it gets very busy on a hot weekend. I had a 45 minute wait in a line of cars recently.

Oxbow is always great but today there was a lot of people headed to the river to beat the heat. 7/27/2020 Because of the pandemic there is no one at the booth, so took extra long, 40 min., as everyone had to get out of the car and use machine.

Fun day swimming and floating

I ride my horse here. Sandy river access, beautiful views, huge trees, rain forest appeal. Deer are all over, bald eagles, & beavers. Horses are NOT allowed in the main park, camping areas, or some trails. You do not turn left & head into main park as you do for camping. The horse trail head is at end of rd straight from Division st. Limited parking in private neighborhood. Please pick up manure left on the residents street.

A great place to take your children. It is quiet beautiful and adventurous. The river that runs through the park is great just to lay out and listen to the water do a little bit of fishing or little bit of swimming. You can go kayaking canoeing Oar rafting.The first four or five camping sites are mainly for RV or camper not really for tent. Doesnt have much covering if any. They have over 70 Campsites. The forest has some small sequoias and a lot of other evergreens with deer Moss with A lot of ferns. Its a pretty whimsical Park .

It was a fun and beautiful place to take the family.

We had a great time at Oxbow with two littles. I do wish trails for beach access were marked on the maps they hand out when you pay for parking. Otherwise, it was beautiful and relaxing.

Primitive camping for tents and small RVs. Very beautiful place. Extremely nice rangers. No hookups. In June there was only one other group in the loop we were in.

Fun family beach with no cell phone distractions. Clean and easily accessible. Great nature discovery park for the kids in addition to the playground. Wish there was a life guard on duty at the boat ramp, very scary to see people in the water not wearing life jackets with the drop off and swift currant, especially after having multiple drownings.

Clean, blue water. Ample swimming spots both up and downstream make this a destination for families, kayakers and anglers. The $5 dollar entrance fee is a small price when you consider the amenities. This is one of the best kept parks in Oregon. They have clean bathrooms, life jackets for all ages (free) and even encourage guests to use their trash bags to keep the area clean. And clean it is.

We love coming here for little hikes, picnics, calm afternoons by the river and the endless giant trees. We loves it so much we got a metro pass. No experience camping here but it’s a nice park and the small fee keeps it a safe place of people who really are happy to be there and follow the rules.

Beautiful and peaceful. This was the perfect place for a casual wedding. Pavilions are available for larger groups. I was there in July and fawns kept wandering by.

I loved oxbow. Beautiful scenery. We walked a trail. We camped there and really enjoyed it. Our campsite came with a grill and a fire pit. They have bathrooms some with bathrooms and some without. They also have life jackets available. Please be aware that the current at the same Sandy River is pretty strong and several people have drowned. Be cautious! Great place to visit! Going again next year

Staff constantly looking over your shoulder. No wood gathering, no fires, no smoking, no camping, no drinking, no parking, and by the way they kick you out at 7pm when its light till 9pm jurks..

It was really cool there rode my bike around for a while there was garbage and needles in certain places but other than that it was a great experience itd be really cool if they could get rid of a lot of the homeless there in the part what what are you going to do the mirror doesnt care so why so depart people

Calm and calmer. So quiet with the water running in the background its as pleasant as can be. Bring a coat the tall trees block out all the sun .

Went for a picnic. The boat landing is the best place to take in the calm beauty of the Sandy River. The camp sites werent very secluded. Plenty of hiking trails. Nice playground.

Magical and serene, without dogs the wildlife is present, spotted fawns crossing the trail.

Perfect camping spot for families and groups and close to the Sandy River so you can walk. A naturalist from metro gave our group a fabulous nature tour along the river where we learned about all the local critters and discovered osprey, eagles, dear, owls and tracks of the deer mouse. Clean, hot showers too.

Lots to explore, there is plenty of room to hold a good amount of people! Very clean and modern facilities

The park is awesome! Its so nice to find someplace so close to town. The camping area is clean and well kept. Plenty of room, parking. The deer here are insane..seen two Bald Eagles. The perfect getaway. Drive north all the way on Division Ave watch for signs.

There is so much to this place! Must go back. Also, I shouldve worn water shoes for the rocky bottom in the river. Beautiful afternoon in the water and on the shoreline! We found a pulloff, parked, and followed a jungle path to the water. I brought my tube and floated through mini rapids. Cant wait to return and enjoy the rest of the park.

The place was amazing! They have running water,Awesome showers, Bathrooms, and many fun activities to enjoy with the family or yourself. If you are bringing along a big family and u want a ton of room,I suggest #23 and it’s close to the Bathroom and showers, plus the river.
