This is a great little county park. Mostly flat elevation with nice wide flat trails. Wide enough to walk next to each other. There is a trail by a river that is very scenic. Not a massively large Park but lots of interconnecting trails to provide mileage. Great for an afternoon.

Good place for picnics, walks, and short easy hikes. Land/trails are a bit smaller than they look on the map, but still nice. Theres a pretty pond (though I wouldnt recommend swimming) and dogs are allowed on-leash.

I love Metea County Park. I have photographed two weddings here and the Nature Preserve Building is a great place to have a wedding and reception. The staff are all so friendly and the scenery is beautiful for portraits.

This place is beautiful! The cost to enter is $2 per person. Has a few trails that are great for hiking. There is easy to understand maps that you can pick up at the nature center and the trails are very clearly marked. In the warmer months theres even a little lake/pond thats open for swimming. Make sure to pay attention to the weather, if it has rained recently the trails will be muddy!

It has some amazing trails. They follow around this creek that is just amazing to look at and be around. Its a very calm and relaxing place for a walk or hike. It seemed like there were people kayaking and canooing on the creek. Im not sure if that was a service they offer, but it looked like a lot of fun.

I wasnt so much in the park itself, but paddling Cedar Creek through the park. That was really good. Some really beautiful spots along the way. I have used the park many times though for hiking the trails. Really nice set of trails!

Metea County Park is one of my favorite spots in fort Wayne. Not only is it a great place to go for a hike, but also a swim in the water. Plenty of areas to explore and not have to worry about running into to a lot of people. The river that goes through the park meets up with the big rivers in the area and allow you the perfect launching spot for a great day of kayaking. Highly recommend.

I was very happy to see a prairie restoration!! Incredibly beautiful and very nice trails!

Vi
Review №23

The nature center is nice but small (not many nature items). Nice hidden room to watch the birds on the feeders. Would be a nice quiet place to hang out for a bit except for the person that works there that whistled the entire time we were there. I could even hear it in the bathroom. I have sensory issues and that kind of noise drives me crazy... but I feel like it was enough to annoy almost anyone. We were there almost 30 minutes (it continued the entire time) before I couldn’t take it anymore and left. Very unprofessional.

A GREAT little county Park!! Participated in a meditative, reflective spiritual walk this morning in the park. Our guide and 3 participants spent the morning listening to and talking with the plants and insect/bird life what they feel like!! What a beautiful day and temperature/humidity were fantastically comfortable for the contemplative occasion in mid-August!! We concluded with a celebration of life meal (from nature consisting of clover, warm water, dried pea-pods, white-chocolate yogert covered raisins and grapes)!!! A very honest and purely reflective service of nature and humanity being at one in harmony with each other!!!Then we took a walk down to the Cedar Creek and watched canoers go floating down the creek!! What a fun and relaxing way to start the day and continue August in blessed memories of 2019!!!

We come here a few times a year. Fall is the best in my opinion. There are places for kids to get right down by the river. Great walks in the summer that are under the canopy of trees. Not too many bugs and bees surprisingly.

Bathrooms close early, even in the basement that should be open as a tornado shelter.Looks like it has a decent swimming spot but if any event is happening that day the one building on site is closed to the public, and you wont know until you drive to the back of the park and walk up to the door.So all in all, it seems like it is only good for swimming, or getting heat exhaustion/stroke in the summer year after year.

Matea is a beautiful park and has, arguable, some of the best scenery in the area. I am a local photographer and come here all of the time for photoshoots. I have never had a problem with the staff, but the woman who was working on Saturday October 19th 2019 towards closing time should not have a job working this park entrance. I’d really love to see her be dismissed from her job because every encounter I had with her was pathetic. When I got there, there was a car in front of me and I assume they didn’t have cash. She came over to my car and I paid, and she threw her hands up and yelled to me “I’ll be done with these people in front of you at some point.” And stormed back to their car. Their window was down and she only did it to be rude. Then, I was out in the field photographing my clients when she yelled over at 6:50 and told us to leave. Closing time isn’t until 7. She was incredibly shotty and was scaring my clients. We packed up and pulled outside of the entrance at 6:57 so she could close the gate and were going to get one last shot outside of the entrance. NOTE: Matea was NOT CLOSED YET. One of the guys I was taking pictures of asked if it would be okay if we got one last shot outside while she was closing the gate up. She said “Don’t be surprised if my manager gets called and tows you. You’re technically trespassing SO I GUESS do whatever you want though.” So freaking unprofessional. She was wailing her hands around like a 12 year old throwing a fit. She kept running her mouth but at that point we ignored her and drove somewhere else for the picture. She made myself and my clients very uncomfortable. If I didn’t love the scenery here, I would absolutely never come back. Hire more welcoming employees who will be willing to help or be kind. Any time I needed help or was trying to just enjoy my time with my clients, this woman ruined it. I didn’t get a name but I would love to hear what actions are being taken because of this.
