Stays pretty swampy most of the time because it takes a few days to dry up from rain. Homless people chilling around but seem to keep to themselves. Not highly recommended but there is usually a lot of dogs by the water and my boys love it for that. (Has a gated area for dogs to play too) So dog friendly, two playgrounds but both are kinda meh.. Fort Walton parks kind of suck in general tbh this is my favorite one in the city though.

We took our young Labradoodle for a chance to play on a beach. We misread the description thinking there was 1,000 feet of beach and there is not. 100 feet of the 1,000 feet of waterfront is beach. Prior comments mentioning aggressive dogs not on leash is true on the small beach area. It appears that the locals claim this place as there own. Even when we asked very nicely that a dog owner keep her dog (unleashed and growling) away from ours (leashed and quiet),the owner kept slinging their toy very near us. We tried a second day only to have a local and his two unleashed dogs claim the entire area for at least two hours. The city has a great opportunity here if they could extend the beach and enforce their leash laws.

Two totally separate sizable playgrounds!! So much to do. Lots of nice green space and some really nice covered pavilions as well. My kids had a great time and would have stayed longer!

This has been a favorite place since I was a kid to visit or to just sit and read or write or enjoy the air and earth and sea at the same time definitely worth a stop if your in the area although some of the public utilities could use some TLC its definitely one of my favorite stops

The West playground is newer and bigger but has zero shade. Theres also a large open space area all around it to run around. The East playground is not as large and does not have a very big area around it, but is at least half shaded most of the day. The East playground is right next to the dog park and a large picnic pavilion that a fair number of people seem to hang out at each day. Both playgrounds have sand floors.

PLEASE monitor off leash rules. We enjoyed what this park offers IF rules were followed. We drove 45 minutes to this location since its the only beach area thats dog friendly close to where we are staying. We are vacationing from Georgia, so the beach is not near us in our state. We brought 2/3 dogs with us and kept them on leash as the signs say. We felt that this was a good idea because we promised ourselves to let the dogs have a beach experience. They had fun, but the fact people can have off leash dogs really escalated our feelings to leave because our dogs werent comfortable with that. The first dog owner was super nice, but did not put his dog on a leash when we came down. This dog was respectful to give our dog space though. When my dog was uncomfortable we tried distancing to calm any tension that he may have felt with a dog running around while he is unable to because of the leash. When we were slowly getting ready to leave and another dog was off leash (all of this at the unfenced beach area) and this second off leash dog was NOT able to be called by the owner. It got in my dogs face a couple times to smell him, but we left because we ultimately accomplished our goal of giving the dogs a chance at a beach area. The uneasy feeling of others not following rules was sad because if they were on leash I couldve been able to slowly introduce our pups and this wouldve been hopefully not as upsetting of a trip that we drove 45 minutes to have less than 10 minutes of enjoyment. This ultimately was an awesome option if your dogs are ok with random dogs running up and youre ok with unknown dogs off leash. We unfortunately didnt anticipate this to be an issue since most dog parks have someone to monitor. This park shouldnt have a leashing rule if its not followed NOR enforced. It ruins the accessibility for others. There are two different fenced in areas that I believe it is acceptable to have them off leash, but for the unfenced area it would be best to keep on a leash for instances like ours.

This is a nice park tucked away in Fort Walton Beach. It is far enough from the road to not feel like a roadside park. There is a walkway that leads down to the water. And it’s a nice area set aside to bring your dog. Or if you just want to go and watch the dogs play, that’s fine too.

We recently moved to the area and have a 5 month old puppy of a large breed so he has lots of energy. This dog park/beach is the best one within all the cities around. I call it his Disney he loves it. It has a nice size small and large dog area. Lots of bags and water dispensers. Have met lots of nice people and sweet dogs. Never had an issue with aggressive dogs and we go 5 times a week sometimes more. The beach access is the best, is the perfect pocket for pups. Secluded enough for them to not run away too far and clean. I couldnt recommend this park more. Absolutely love it!
