An impressive piece of history with its own back story and a time capsule. Definitely worth visiting.
It’s simply amazing that we still have this beautiful monument and these sculptures. It was made in 1872 and re-dedicated in 2005 to commemorate the Michigan War Dead. It makes Campus Martius and downtown Detroit that much better for being present in our city. Best way to get to it is to walk as there is no parking adjacent to the monument. Also, check out nearby Parc, Campus Martius beach, and Cadillac Squate Park while you’re there.
A must see. Beautiful structure. There are so manyany similar monuments downtown. We plan on exploring them all.
I like the water falls coming from the statues, thats pretty much it.
An iconic gem that highlights the role Michigan played for the Union in the Civil War.
