This is a great park conveniently located in the center of downtown Detroit. It’s located at the intersection of Woodward Ave, Michigan Ave, and Fort St. It has a restaurant with good food, a very nice statue, and a lot with sand in it that serves as a beach. I had lunch at the restaurant, which was good. I ordered some fries and lemonade, which both tasted quite good. The staff were friendly and the food and beverages came in a timely manner, which I liked.
If youre ever in the city this is one place to stop in and see no matter the time of year. Highly sought after in the winter for its festive events such as the tree lightning, or its ice skating rink and beautiful surrounding dazzling displays of seasonal lights. During the spring, summer, and fall months youre sure to catch a event happen here or at least within walking distance. From all types of musical shows to food festivals this spot is in the center all it all.
Always a good time here! I must say that it was extremely weird being down here without it being packed with people! The rink was closed, and with the pandemic there wasnt a giant crowd to contend with.
The lights were very festive. Very family friendly. Pleasantly surprised
Good atmosphere best if you make a reservation enjoyed my salad but my wings taste like they were cook hours before, then reheated for me they were dry and chewy. I made my concerns with a gentleman in a suit who asked me and my sweetheart how was the food and nothing became of it. Just because your are downtown Detroit doesnt mean you can and should expensive without the effort. I must add I gave 3 stars because the service was good and the wait staff was attentive.
On a nice day, it is bounds to be crowded, no matter the season. But in the heart of downtown Detroit, the park is a welcome little island of activity in the shadows of some of the citys iconic buildings. People come for the Ive skating, the fall beach with no water, and just to watch other people. I find it a good place to eat a lunch or sip a coffee between meetings.
I have been to Campus Martius Park a couple of times and its always a nice place to visit while being in Detroit. They have great events all year round like a beach in the summer, an Oktoberfest in September and the Christmas tree and ice ring in winter. They do also have great food and drink options to check out. I definity recommend to stop here and enjoy this gorgeous park.
Center of Detroit downtown and the liveliest place to be. All major events are held here. You can enjoy wide variety of food from various restaurants here. Ice skating is open throughout the winter. Best place to hangout on weekends in Detroit.
I went to see the point of origin for Detroit. The park is small with a couple of cool water features and a little area called the beach. Besides that it is not much more entertaining other then the historical aspect so if you like that sort of thing it is worth a stop to see and read about the history.
My beautiful city. Campus Martius is a jewel in the middle of downtown. So fun, upbeat, and on-the-move. If you make it to the D, make sure this place is on your itinerary!
This is probably one of the best parts about Detroit. They’re always trying to do something fun here. In the winter time they have the ice rink, but I can get kind of crowded. In the summer they have the Beach bar which is great. Are used to live close and I used to go there all the time. It’s a nice place even just to sit and eat lunch.
Baby it cold out there but, I dont care whos out Im gonna rep my city whenever possible¡! It was beautiful but, I wouldnt expect nothing less from Detroit¡
I was downtown and I was watching them get me ready for the holidays eze they put up the Christmas tree and get ready to set up the ice rink I do hope that we can able to enjoy this festival
Feels like the center of Detroit. Always something going on and lots of things to do nearby. I really like the monument and fountain. Sand for kids to play in during summer and ice skating rink in winter are great ideas for things to do.
Campus Martius Park is in the heart of Detroit. There are events going on all year long, summer time concert, ice skating, and winter festival. Many restaurants around the area. Close to Comerica Parks and Fox theater. Nearby entertainment venus, Heart Plaza and River Walk. Take people mover to go around downtown for only 75 cent. Greek Town Casino, MGM Grand, and Motorcity Casino are also closeby.
Love my hometown city and I always have a good time a Campus Martius Park all year long.
My kids and I visited Detroit at the beginning of Covid and it was beautiful. The streets were empty. My kids got to skateboard. I can’t wait to come back and see it with every day life going on.
Such a beautiful park in the heart of Detroit! Pretty fountain and a nice place to walk to if youre waiting for a table at a restaurant or just wanting to go for a evening stroll.
Beautiful Christmas lights, lots to see and do. Great Time.
There are pop up bars, seating everywhere, scooters and bikes available on every block. Downtown has been updated and there is lots to do and see plus the shopping is good too! The rolling bar is available also.
A nice place to visit all year around.
Nice place to skate and enjoy the holiday scenery. The rink has a nice Christmas feel to it with the giant tree all lit up. My wife and I have talked about going skating here for years but have never gotten around to it since theres really only about a month between the tree lighting ceremony to the end of the holidays. It is well worth it to go before Christmas to get that full holiday feeling. However, this is where I think a little improvement could help. The food tent that has some drinks and pretzels was atrocious! It was nasty inside, looked like it hadnt been cleaned in days. The pretzel was just a dry piece of bread that wasnt worth the $4 or $5.The rink was packed, again, a very nice rink but, it is full of people that have never been on ice before. If youre slower and still learning, get to the outside towards the boards so others arent plowing into you and causing injuries. All in all, a great time! I would definitely recommend coming down here and skating or just enjoying the scenery.
My husband and I were in town for the Packers/Lions game and decided to walk to the field from our hotel so we knew where we were going and ran across the ice skating rink and it was so beautiful. The Christmas tree was gorgeous and lights on the trees made it such a wonderfully festive place to be and see. The restaurant Parc looked very nice and wish we had more time to spend here but came in late and were booked with plans most of the time. There was a small market with vendors selling their work in these little glass houses and all around such a nice place to be and see. It’s centralized to the entire downtown area and in a perfect location. You can literally get anywhere downtown in any direction. Very trendy and updated I was thoroughly impressed with this little park. We do plan on returning during the same time next year and are going to make sure to skate and get the horse and carriage ride should it be there next year.
Great 30 min get away for lunches. Winters included. Much effort made to accommodate footprint traffic.
The fountain bar was really fun with lively staff. The cooks were banging the food out fast . Food were generous amounts and good flavor.
Hello new Detroit. I can’t tell if I love or hate this. Ice-skating is fun in the winter. I just wish there was more affordable parking.
This downtown area is getting set up for the Holidays and it is a beautiful. Can not wait for it to be done and ready for ice skating!
Beautiful environment, friendly service, & the food is absolutely delicious. It feels just like a beach in the city. I could stay there for hours & hours
Nice place...there is even a beach for the kids during the day and adults after 9
ME AND ARIEL DOWNTOWN BY THE WATER I LOVE YOU SWEETHEART
This market place is congested, crowded and full of dust thought this could be due to some temporary construction or renovation. The temporary shops are placed too close by though this is one of the best places to visit along with friends and family as the atmosphere is great and energizing.️ This place has:Yes=Ramp access.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Entrance.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Restroom/Toilet.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Seating.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Parking.
Back to life Downtown Detroit! Many people think twice when hearing Detroit when safety is the concern. I would encourage everyone to come party here. Detroit is back to life glowing and shining like never before. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year to All!
We Love playing Pokemon Go here! Great vibe. Awesome shops and food.
I had a blast! It was all a mix of different cultures having nothing but fun times together
Campus Martius was Beautiful and Enjoyable as always. People (including John and I) were wearing our masks and practicing social distancing. We purchased fish and chips from one of the food trucks...totally delicious! But unfortunately I didnt get the name of the Food Truck. Ill do better next time. These pictures are of Campus Martius before the covid crisis.
This is a great spot to meet or hang out in the middle of downtown. There are plenty of good restaurants and coffee places nearby. There is ample seating and even some shade. Parking could be a little tricky depending on the time of day. I probably wouldnt make a trip downtown just to go to this park, but if I was downtown this is where I would want to enjoy a meal or a drink and just hang out.
Always a refreshing experience for myself and the kids. The people are the best host and great friendships to be made here.
Campus Martius Park is a great place to visit whether during a festival or event or just to take time and have lunch or sit with friends and talk.We especially like going ice skating there during the winter months. Whether during the day or in the evening the place is decorated in a lively and holiday fashion. The lines to rent ice skates usually move along quickly. Its a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise at the same time. From a historical point of view this crossroads has had its share of historical events which include the mustering of Union Troops, having them sign up and ship off to the east during the Civil War. There is a large monument commemorating the end of the Civil War and celebrating the heroes in all the departments of the military. It is quite impressive and should not be missed. It is one of those places that gives an immediate connection to the past while making room for a view of the future.
The park is Beautiful, more people are coming down each day
Great area to walk around and see the old buildings and new structures too
They had brand new cozy couches with the Gardner White tags STILL attached.. It was lovely to relax on a comfy couch in the shade during my lunch break.
Great to see things happening downtown. Lively crowds.
Over the last half dozen years Campus Martius has become a superior public space and a model for other urban spaces. There is virtually no down time between events & activites year-long.
It was a beautiful evening. Temperature was perfect. People keeping a safe distance. Food from Shake Shack was excellent. Our family enjoy ourselves.
Absolutely beautiful Plenty to do.. Food, bars and scenery
Something to do all year round and Starbucks across the street, in the summertime we have a lot of fun the winter months are a blast as well. Must say love going downtown because there is always lots going on especially at Campus Martius Park ️the restaurant there is very nice, prices are reasonable food is just outstanding you can smell it from across the street pulls you over. I will continue to visit and enjoy my time out there.
Great food. Great vibes. The wait staff was fun and friendly. Love hanging out here!
Chic public space to hang out and enjoy a cocktail (within the beacharea). Full of hipsters and hajibis and kids and scantily dressed white girls in Friday nights. However, you cant help but get the vibe its trying too hard to be a legitimate destination city, like Tampa or Chicago or St. Pete or Austin, etc.Its cute to see Detroit trying and it would be cool to see them get there one day.
Love it, the atmosphere is very chill... you can relax, have a drink and get some food...even has a place where the kids can play...
A gem in the city. Fun hangout spot all year-round
Busy place. The little shops are neat but their products are lacking. We enjoyed the ice skating. Be prepared to wait in long lines. Parking will cost between 10-20 $ per hour. The security guards down there seemed very selective in their enforcement. I felt like I was being followed and harassed. Being scolded for doing the same things many others were allowed to do.
One of the best places to go in the D!
Absolute favorite spot to people watch and enjoy the city. Clean, safe, upscale.
Went there with family a day before Christmas and the place was decorated awsomely. Kids loved the place. Had a lot fun watching ice skating
One of my favorite spots to chill and people watch. There is so much action. Last time I went there is a basketball hoop and court. Volleyball and lots of sand. There is a cool coffee shop looks like a steam punk Starbucks. Awesome place please visit
Great time good vibes beautiful lights
Well done, family fun.. from skating to the warm indoor spaces, the art houses and Lodge across the street.. beautiful!
Great place to visit live events vibes are extraordinary and exciting people and atmosphere is electric
This area has an amazing pulse. Right near everything. Ill definitely be back!
Great public art and a beach bar in downtown Detroit? Yes please!
Nice clean and love that the city is doing what its supposed to do during the pandemic
Great Oktoberfest event. Nicely socially distanced.
On very good days the wind blow just right! Tonights movie is ford vs Ferrari
No matter if it’s summer or winter, this place is always fun. Love all the energy and time Detroit is putting in to make Detroit a great place to be.
The area offers a lot of parking, its clean & it feel safe enough to walk downtown now.
One of my favorite places but there was no place to sit and enjoy it due to covid
Janet loves her books and the authors who brought they to life...as much as she loves the customers who browse her shelves !
Thanksgiving parade. My family and I were able to take a picture with Chanel 4 Nick Montecelli
Just love being downtown. PARC resturant food is very good
Beautiful as always.
Everyone was joyous, such a beautiful sight, right out of a movie. The beauty of downtown Detroit!
Really has all kinds of things to see, do and eat...and changes with the seasons. in walking distance of lots more!
Bustling little park beautifully decorated plenty of stuff to see and do great skating area great family outing
Chill with the family or alone. Covid safe. Wear your mask...
Great location! Great place to catch up with friends and family!
Nice place on the middle of downtown that you can enjoy with your family
The impeccably landscaped Campus Martius Park is the welcome and meeting spot for locals and visitors alike. This beautiful attraction is open year round with a sand park in the summer and an ice skating rink paired perfectly with outdoor fire pit. At the center of it all is Parc, Detroit’s 5 star bistro style restaurant, for the perfect dinner or cocktails with friends or family.
Always clean, safe. I love sitting under an umbrella and digging my toes in the sand during summer lunch breaks. A little tiki bar offers drinks. Always scheduled activities, like movie nights. Food trucks park nearby. The restaurant Parc always looks busy, but the park is never over crowded.
Starting to look really Christmassy down there.
We always have such a great time here and the wings are great. Oh and get a Karen, thats a drink
Nice place to chill with your girl but only at night lol
Absolutely wonderful my wife and I had a wonderful time, its so great to see Detroit coming back after so long.
Fun little downtown patch of park. Various activities throughout the year. In December of 2019 they were sporting a great Christmas tree, ice skating, and small shops in their market.
Beautiful park in downtown! We went right after the polar vortex around February. Seeing it all lit up was gorgeous
Amazing day
The restaurant was no good. The scenery was awesome.
