Neat find close to the Pilot where I was able to travel from via electric scooter - path seems newer and was fairly passable - the museum fittingly sits amongst the tall prairie grass regardless the season and is quite impressive.Inside - I was a little put off by how dark it was on the inside of the museum . It just felt like someone forgot to turn one of the lights on the entire time ! As far as the content goes - fairly detailed info on the history of the area including audio and video presentations, but primarily was intended for an older audience by the amount of text to consume. I particularly enjoyed the photographs of the people who braved the trek out West and wanted more of that!Overall it was a great find !
Covid testing here is fast and top notch. Got my results on average right around 48 hours afterwards. Last time I tested, I tested on Friday and had my results Saturday night.
This was a great space to be at with a nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed being there, even if I was there for some worm
Went to Testiowa covid-19 test.
Good quick and easy place to go get your covid-19 test drive-thru
Great place to walk trails very clean
We have been to this center twice, both times in relation to Geocaching. The first time we came and spent considerable time going through the displays trying to solve the puzzle giving info as to where the final was. The second visit was to retrieve the abandoned and archived cache container, then discuss with 2 of the staff members a possible new cache. Came up with several decent ideas, now to start rolling them out. Stay tuned. We enjoy visiting this place.
I learned a lot here. The information was well organized, the displays were nicely made, and the building was clean and well maintained. The trail was underwater when I visited, and floodwaters were high in general, but It was still gorgeous, educational, and (most importantly) fun!
Very nice.early history of area.awesome employees.i was only one who wanted to see short film they offer at end of visit to center and they started film just for me.
For me as a jogger it was fantastic. While traveling I was looking for a place to exercise and found it on the GPS very convenient. To the freeway only about one mile. Free museum had information on four major Western Trails. Correct place to stretch your legs. RV parking too all free
A great treasure for our community. Always willing to partner with local nonprofits to educate the public. Wonderful staff. Absolutely gutted that Ernst wont leave it alone.
A very interesting place to visit. The Center has lots of displays regarding the history of the area. The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. They even have live entertainment.
This is and excellent place to learn about the westward trails. Lewis and Clark, Morman, and California Trail through sculptures photos and maps. Also a good movie. The gentleman at the desk were very helpful and friendly. A walk along the levee is pretty. Some trails not accessable.due to flooding.
This is a neat little museum, but I mostly go with my grandpa every chance I can. He goes to the Jam and Bread music every Thursday and Saturday. I Cannot thank the staff and owners enough for all the years of joy and healing they have brought to my grandpa and my family. The musicians talent and giving nature has been just amazing. Their dedications and willingness to show up twice a week to perform for free has made a much bigger impact than they could ever begin to think. I thank you all for being so generous and gracious. Again, the joy and healing that you bring and give to others so freely is truly appreciated. Thank You!
Lighting was terrible, hard to see and easily read exhibits and signs.
A place to learn about the history of this area.
Lots of history. Nice trails
It was closed but I have been there before and enjoyed it a lot!
This is a museum that is long on history but short on artifacts. As a history buff, I thought that the museum was interesting enough to justify a visit. Various aspects of westward expansion were considered with a rather unusual format--small sculptures are used to create scenes, each of which is augmented by placards describing the scenes and containing quotes from those people (e.g. Lewis and Clark) who lived at that time and were involved in that aspect of our nations history. Now this is okay if you have the patience to do a lot of reading; if not, then this museum might not be for you.
It was worth the time. We should not forget hi story and the toughness, determination, faith & will to survive that those who settled the west possessed. I wish it had a gift shop or a small bookstore.
It was cute. Very well done. I did enjoy the movie
Great music on Thursdays
This is a great museum for this area in the past. It has a very nice interior. Then over the river levee is a forested area with a lake that has some walking and bike trails.
This is our go to place for walking the dog, hiking, playing Pokemon Go, and hopefully finding some morel mushrooms when it gets a bit warmer. The newly remodeled Trails Center has fascinating displays and dioramas of Lewis and Clarks exploration and much more.
Fun little spot to stop to help brush up on our Iowa History with some Lewis & Clark️️️
This is a nice stop. A great spot for a cycling break along the CB rec trails.
It was very nice, but I was a little disappointed with many of the displays, which looked like nothing more than 5th grade history projects. The person at the desk didnt say anything to us.
Its a good place to go if you want to get outside and walk the trails
The center is cool and very informative what is but what is most interesting is the trails and activities that are outside
Very quiet and self explanatory. Beautiful trails
I like the people, music, atmosphere, the history displayed.
Exhibits are OK. One room. Low lighting. Local people sign up to perform on the weekends. Check the website for events.
Educational
