Beautiful wedding service here. Parking is so great as well.
I heard the Mass today on Channel 7, which I enjoy attending but today I was surprised that the the mention of the cubs and Sox was mentioned after the communion prayer. That should not have been done. Also I do not approve wearing a sporstname or any other items not related to the Holy Mass, on a mask. Let us keep the Mass holy and respectful . Thank you.
So beautiful though its made by man you kan feel the presence of God just by givingGlancing at this beautiful work of art and house for God in his name amen
The Holy Name Cathedral church is a beautiful church. The architecture is just amazing and beautiful. I would recommend that you stop by and visit if you’re in Chicago. For those that live in Chicago you are lucky. We were visiting from out of state and lit some candles for some family and friends. Will stop by again when it down.
Love the authentic old world vibe! Awesome homily every visit!
We watch the Sunday Mass even though we now live in Austin, TX. We love it.Thank you
This is the most beautiful cathedral I have seen in the USA.
I use it for live stream since the Pandemic, I will visit this church next year.
Beautiful, wonderful observation of pandemic protocol, great ceremony.
I love this church, the priest is REALLY good. Someone with more knowledge than me talked with him after and asked if he was a Dominican because his homily was so good!!! Turns out he was!! I was told that they are an order that focuses on preaching, and they arent super common so if you get a chance try to check out the Sunday morning masses in hopes of catching an incredibly good homily.
The Holy Name Cathedral is home to many Filipino Catholics and its great to see and meet them here. Weve been parishioners since we arrived here in Chicago. Father Greg is the most awesome and funniest priest/rector of the Cathedral.
Beautiful church. Love the Legend of the Capone called hit and remaining bullet hole againts the Irish. Still dont know if the holes are legit legit. Unless you like church architecture, may not be enough to talent all the way there.
Wonderful experience! Beautiful peaceful uplifting spiritual. Great sermon
Stunning architecture and mass was absolutely beautiful.
Amazing beautiful Cathedral! Really its breathtaking. I attended a Saturday evening mass 5:15. Its a good Novus Ordo mass, mostly reverent without all the added guitars and folk like singing. The choir and two cantors had beautiful voices. Ill come back for sure next time Im in Chicago. God Bless!
Beautiful and magnificent Church. Fr. Greg is the absolute greatest Priest you will ever meet! So nice, polite and funny. He is the epitome of leader of Jesus Church.
Was a parishioner for years before moving from Chicago. Great community of parishioners, beautiful architecture of a cathedral, church services are breathtaking and a truly spiritual experience.
Excellent Church.Soical Distenceing Strictly Inforance.
Beautiful Church inside. Holds a great history in Chicago.
I attended one Sunday and heard such a meaningful message underneath the spoken word I will always be faithful.. I have not heard anything close to that in a Cathedral or Church since...I have tried to share by example what I heard...It is difficult as it was meant for physicians and I am a nurse....
This church is so beautiful went to a rite mass with my church group. It was the most gorgeous experience Ive ever had in my life as a catholic member.
Gorgeous church and wonderful sermon.
Beauty beyond belief. Just amazing inside.
Its so beautiful and peaceful
This is the Cathedral with the Archdiocese the Mother Church of All Churches in the city, it is a must stop and experience the Spiritual Family Love order and Peace within. Also such Beautiful Architecture and say hi to Fr. Greg the Rector and Cardinal Cupich ️ God Bless ️
Holy Name is my parish and I might be a bit prejudice but it is a beautiful church. I believe they have a tour and I would highly recommend it if you have any interest in architecture. Its the home of our Cardinal and a worthy home it is.
Really pleasant and peaceful we feel out of the world
The place is packed on sundays, although its open to visitors during business hours.
I felt at home. Warm and friendly atmosphere. God is good.
Holy Name Cathedral Is the Head of the Archdiocese of Chicago, conveniently located at Superior & State. Once inside the Massive Doors, Ushers are Welcoming, and Direct you to a seat. Architecturally the Cathedral is Breathtaking and Awe-inspiring. Mass at Holy Name Cathedral is Beautifully Detailed, from the Lectors Reading, to the Choir Singing, to the Priest Celebrating the Mass. The Rector at HNC is Reverend Greg Sacowicz. I’ve known Father Greg since 1993, when he was Associate Pastor of St Mary of the Woods in Edgebrook. Fr. Greg is a Gifted Man of God, who recently Celebrated 40 years as A Priest. I feel Blessed having Fr. Greg in my Life, helping Navigate the Way.God Bless.
This church was just beautiful in every sense. There is so much history in these walls. The homily was perfect and the choir was amazing! Great Mass!
In town visiting. Stopped here for Mass. Beautiful church very well maintained. Ushers everywhere to help guide you to open seats. It was hard to focus on the Mass as I kept looking around at all the statues and stained glass. I will return again when I am in town.
Well organized services. Well maintained building (in and out); impressive grand organ, plus one more, smaller organ.
Beautiful cathedral. Located in the middle of downtown Chicago. Architecture and decor breath taking. Ceilings decorated with painted scenes from the Bible and adorned with more intricate Woodwork including the Columns. Floors granite. Woodwork compliments the suspended Wooden cross of Jesus over the sacrament table. Downstairs has meeting rooms and restrooms. A must see the next.
God always has the doors open for you!
Everyone, including those of other Faiths, should visit this beautiful cathedral. I love attending mass and ceremonies at Holy Name.
Beautiful cathedral. Very warm and tender priest who said the mass. A Catholic Haven in Chicago. Must go.
I recently attended a family wedding there and was very disappointed. The cathedral itself is beautiful, but the way they push you out of there after the wedding ceremony without being able to take pictures is disappointing. I know they cant let people stay for hours, but allowing 30 minutes for some group shots on one of the biggest days of your life doesnt seem like too much to ask.
Beautiful venue and welcoming community. 5 stars would have been warranted if it werent for the homily delivered at mass. That was a downer, which impacted the experience.
Undescribable and Everytime I am there, I feel that I am close to him, especially if am in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I am almost every day come to church and received him.
Beautiful from outside but very little inside was inspiring or uniquely Catholic. Very strange to be in a Cathedral and not find statues or artwork of the Blessed Mother or saints. Modern/abstract stained glass not Christian imagery but just colorful patterns. Altar was sparse with wood paneling. Could not find tabernacle. It struck me as a very nice Protestant church.
A beautiful church. Since the fire they decided to hide the tabernacle. The Real Presence of Jesus should be front and center.
It is beautiful. There was a wedding going on there when we were there. It was an amazing experience.
Beautiful building but the Founder hasnt been seen in over 2000 years and the employees cant be trusted around children or money.
Beautiful cathedral! Had to take photos!
Nice church, beautiful ceiling!
Come get your God on, sinners. Or just enjoy the beautiful stained glass windows.
Very nice church clean excellent music numerous masses. Well located.
The Parish Life Commission held an Oktoberfest event on September 19, 2019 with Music and Food. A lovely festivity in the Cathedral’s courtyard.
Beautiful church! Went to their daily mass at 8am, there was more people than I expected
Beautiful and prayerful church worth a visit. Lovely mass by Fr. John and more than 400 marathoners on the eve of the Chicago Marathon 2019.
Beautiful iconic church!
Incredibly beautiful Cathedral! And the choir is super talented.
A beautiful church to enjoy Catholic celebrations or to spend time with God. Sitting in the church reminds me of what is possible with God and makes me grateful for everything I have.
Absolutely beautiful and the organ was breath taking
I visited the Holy Name Cathedral to see a bullet hole from the gangster era, the building is impressive, whilst visiting my wife and I struck up a conservation with a school patrol lady, she gave us a personal and interesting insight into her Chicago
So heres the thing...Im not trying to give a church a bad rating, but the wedding attended here was mediocre. The bride and everyone else looked lovely, but there were quite a few issues. We could barely hear the priest, even though we were right in front. It was very cold inside. It was a cold day, but the inside offered very little relief. The biggest issue is that he basically shooed us out the door before finishing the ceremony because there were 2 more weddings that day, and the next one needed to start asap. That means there were no pictures taken in the church. I dont think Id ever been to a wedding where the party was not allowed pictures at the alter.Perhaps the bride and groom already knew that and were fine with that, but I found it to be really rude and obviously monetarily motivated.I suppose it is a famous/popular church at a prime city location? No time for sentimental hullabaloo, such as pictures with family and friends on your special day. Not impressed. One big star for having a parking lot and free parking. The other star is for allowing the homeless to stay inside out of the cold that day. They were sat in back, to the side, and I thought that was lovely.
I went to a mass around Noon and the music was a bit contemporary for my taste. otherwise nice.
Amazing place to visit. Architectural view is breathtaking.
Beautiful cathedral and a great place for a Catholic to go worship!
Beautiful cathedral in Chicago, we were lucky that the organ was playing beautiful music. The woodwork is beautiful.
As always, we like coming to this church, sermons are relatable, and touches your heart. My son who has very short attention span, listens, takes in, and tries to live by what the priests says. Amen!
Beautiful cathedral. Lots of times available for mass. There is also a quiet courtyard with tables & chairs for peaceful reflection.
Beautiful church I wish we had one like this near us!
Beautiful cathedral! Looking forward to revisiting this church to watch the sound of music with my son! This will be the first time watching the movie with my little man and I cant think of a better place to watch this classic! We weather the storms that were sent to us and we can weather even more because god only gives the toughest battles to the strongest soldiers!I love the high cathedral ceiling .the detailed stain glass windows, wooden moldings, the beautiful cross of spiritual history and remembrance of sacrifice!
Its definitely one of the most beatiful churches Ive ever seen. If you are into churches, architecture or even design, its a great place to see.
This location best avoided
Very nice
Very nice! Security guard was very helpful and caring!!
Very pretty church stood up in a wedding here and thought it was an extremely beautiful venue!
It has a lot of history. As a Catholic, this is the main church. This is the seat of the diocese. Its big and beautiful and the majesty of place instantly evokes peace and spirituality. Of the many things to see in church, the hats of all the prior Cardinals have been hoisted and hang from the ceiling over the alter.
A very busy at times chaotic house of worship. They offer several masses through out the day with 3 hours of confessions on Saturday. Fr. Lou Cameli is the. Best priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago and should be a bishop.
So beautiful amazing church
DAMNNNNN i have never been here, but i stumbled across photos online and this cathedral is #gorgeous. big shoutout to god.
I go to Mass here. Very welcoming. One of the most beautiful Churchs in the world
We love The Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago Illinois
They do a great mass, effortless chalice work
Excellent liturgy with wonderful music and homilists. Look for the galeros hanging from the ceiling of the sanctuary behind the altar.
Love to share Mass at cathedrals wherever we can
It was a pleasure to visit my Father’s house in Chicago!!!Blessed be my King and his place of worship. I felt right at home and praise him for his gift of this Holy place to worship him.
The mother church of the Archdiocese, with a rich history.
I sit on the front strps an drink margaritas
Theres so much history here, going back to the days when the area was known as Tower Town in the era of the Great Conflagration, The Chicago Fire. Chicagos ruthless leader of the North Side Gang (and former Choir Boy) Charles Dean OBanion ran his crew from a floral shop across the street, until Capone and his henchmen took control after a series of calculated hits.
Really felt at home, wonderful marble, dark vaulting and quiet atmosphere make it a beautiful place to pray. You don’t have to be a believer to enjoy it, and anyone can encounter Christ here!
Great looking church, nice music as well.
Again always can use a little prayer.
Magnificent church, enjoyed the mass, sad not many people attended
Beautiful church! Great homily. Very good experience.
Legendary building!! One of the oldest catholic churches in the city...
What a travel relief to be able to fly into Chicago and be celebrating Mass within two hours . Located conveniently around the corner from the subway stop, it made easy travel for my friend and I in town for a convocation.
Inviting.
Perfect rest stop while having a shopping day. The architecture and peacefulness was a welcome treat.
