The Ulysses S. Grant Monument is one of the great monuments of Chicago, and one of the largest equestrian statues as well. This is a must visit monument if you are visiting Lincoln Park Zoo or the park. Be sure to also visit the Lincoln Memorial located in the southernmost end of Lincoln Park, about a 10 to 15 minute leisurely walk, south from the Grant monument, walking past the Benjamin Franklin monument, and through the tunnel under LaSalle Drive extension.
Love US Grant. Hes one of the most misunderstood figures in American History. His willingness to press the fight during the civil war allowed for the capture of Richmond and the end of the war. His attempts to reconstruct the south were often thwarted by the very people he trusted the jobs to. While fond of whiskey he was not s stumbling drunk. Great monument to a great man.
A piece of history next to the South Pond. The statue is of Ulysses S. Grant who, according to Wikipedia, was an American soldier and politician who served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877.The statue area seems to have become a hangout spot for the younger crowd. The small tunnel underneath connects the parking lot of Lincoln Park Zoo to the South Pond.
One of many, many, many monuments to 18th century men around town the Grant monument is still a cool little spot. The views overlooking a parking lot arent great but the monument itself features arches of stone that make it a great photo spot tucked away within Lincoln Park.
Great place to take a walk. Only four stars because the weather was chilly.
Grant is an underrated figure in US history, but he has a nice statue here with a view of the lake one his east side and the south pond on his west side.
Amazing view of the skyline and the lake from here. Underrated gem in Chicago.
Super confused on what his first name was but other than that, v beautiful
Majestic statue of the 18th President of the United States in the middle of Lincoln Park (not Grant Park, lol?)Nice views of the park from the spot and lots of shady spots for a moment out of the sun or rain.
Dont forget the incredible people who served our great country!!
Awesome stone wall that people rock climb in the warmer months
Cool statue located next to the Lincoln Park Zoos Nature Boardwalk.
Walking through the park, came upon this figure on a horse.. I had to go to my cell phone, and check with my map to find out who and what it is.
Unfortunately not that impressive. I dont even think theres a clear sign telling you what youre looking at.
I walked under the stars with my fiancé. It was so romantic.
Gives a sense of grandeur to the Lincoln Park
