Plan for half a day. Youll want to tour the historic neighborhood, and not just the visitor center. Had a great tour, including the plan for the neighborhood, the Pullman Strike, the Hotel Florence restoration, etc.I took public transportation out and walked, which one of the guys working here suggested that wasnt a good idea. It is the South Side of Chicago, but i did just fine.TIFA 2003
Pretty neat community. A place where people come together and help one another whether it be shoveling their walk way or chasing down a robber; we got one anothers back. Sometimes we chit chat with our neighbors on our way through the neighborhood. Sometimes we hang out and attend one of the fun gatherings Pullman does with one another: game night, movie dinner, wine club to name a few. It is all about building a nice friendship with one another and being helpful and kind.
Very informative and friendly staff. Take the tour to learn about the area. Classic homes for that era.Fee parkingNice photo oppertunities.Inside the building interesting relics of the time. A short video to explain the early history of the Pullman area.
A beautiful area, the history is amazing & as are the buildings
This will be so much better when the hotel is restored, right now the building just doesnt fit. But they know it and are working on it, the staff however are amazing and the people very friendly. I cant wait to see it in a couple of years!
Nice Museum that is just getting started. The staff was really friendly, and knowledgeable. I plan on coming back in a year or so when the factory is open. Lots of work going on around the area, I looks like it will really be something big in the future.
Great Visitor Center there is a lot of history in this area
Took a tour with my class... It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. The tour guides were awesome. We went inside of the beautiful Green Stone Church and saw many antiques that Pullman owned. I will definitely be visiting again soon.
Cant wait for Administrative building to re open.
Great historical education!
Friendly curator opened this place for us on an off day, what a nice surprise. Essential to catch the quick video before you roam Pullman.
Impressive chunk of history!
Pullman Visitor Center now has National Park Rangers who protect and share stories of this utopian town. It is now the visitor center for the Pullman National Monument. There is a film which details the history and fall of this Victorian town created by George Pullman. Since it a National Monument,I collected the Pullman Junior Ranger Badge, Pullman 402 Button, and Pullman National Park Passport Stamp.
Very informative and lives up to National Park Visitor Center standards. Cant wait for the new visitor center to open in the old factory.
Nice tour of a nice historic neighborhood neighborhood. The neighborhood is nice, so dont worry about getting your car broken into, getting shot, or any of those other fears that an ignorant Northsider might have (like I did). The tour that the foundation gives was okay. The talking parts were a too long-winded and for some reason she had one segment next to a loud busy street so I couldnt really hear much, but it was still pretty cool being in this historic neighborhood and seeing all the pretty old houses and buildings. The tour is inexpensive ($10) and held on the first Sunday of the month.
They do such a good job with the meager resources that they have. The neighborhood is beautiful.
Great historic site on Chicago. The site is a little underdeveloped because of lab of funding from the state, but that should be improving with it now being partially run and renovated by the National Park Service.
In one of the only non historic buildings in the area.
Enjoyed learning more about labor and social history
