I went to the magnificent Latin Mass at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Chicago on the last Sunday in August at 11am. Its definitely the most beautiful church I have ever entered!! The beauty is absolutely spectacular! There was great reverence for Our Lord. There are several Mass times. I highly recommend visiting this church for Mass or prayer. The parking is limited to a small lot or street parking. I took an Uber. It worked perfectly for me.

I had a tour of the church conducted by Fr. Joshua, an excellent guide. I was impressed with the Old World beauty and the remarkable history of how this magnificent church returned from obscurity and near-closure to again become the spiritual center of its community. I look forward to returning for Mass.

I have been coming her for years, and I have made so many friends. Everyone is very friendly, including the priests and brothers, and I rarely want to leave. There is a beautifully reverent atmosphere, and I love all the extra activities they do, like summer camp, the march for life, crusaders for life, etc. This is my favorite church and would give it an infinite number of stars if I could. The church it self is an architectural wonder, full of gold, beautiful statues, carvings, and such. If you have not been here, you must come visit once at least!

Fantastically beautiful church with frequently available confessions and mass times. They offer masses in both Latin (more frequent) and English (less frequent), and both are among the most beautiful masses Ive ever seen. Wonderful choir, wonderful priests, and an excellent people. If youre on the blue line on Sunday, you should be heading to St. John Cantius!

Wow, what a stunning place to be!!The whole main Church is designed and beautifully decorated in ornate wooden patterns, and is incredible to behold! Some beautiful side altars, and a reliquary cabinet to rival the Vatican, lol!Not to mention the beautiful way that the priests celebrate the New and Old forms of the Mass!!If youre a devout Catholic, or interested in deep Catholic devotion, the Canons of St. John Cantius have the place for you!!

Even if you are not Catholic or even Christian, go visit this Baroque-style church and enjoy its beauty. Built in only 5 years (1893-1898) by Polish immigrants, it drips of gold ornamentation, is filled with majestic sculptures, and illuminated by wonderful stainglass windows. Because of who built the church, there are numerous Polish accents throughout the church - the Stations of the Cross are described in Polish, and several murals and stainglass windows are adorned with Polish sentences. There is no shortage of frankincense, which complements the Holy Mass celebrated in Latin. If you are just a visitor interested in the architecture of the building alone, please be considerate to the parishioners, as this is a very alive, active parish, and not a museum.

What a beautifully-restored Catholic Church! I was there for the Broken Mary walk from the church to Water Tower. A great way to honor our Blessed Mother, foster peace, and meet wonderful people. Very solemn, and traditional as they practice mass in Latin, also have adoration of Holy Sacrament on Wednesdays after mass. They are like a Museum as they have a collection of Holy artifacts including piece of the original crown of thorns Jesus wore. It is a church and service one must experience, as the mass services are different from service one may be use to.

The choir has members of the opera, the Christmas orchestra has membersof from the symphony, so the music was outstanding from Gregorian chants to Christmas carols. The interior has been restored and its s a beautiful piece of 125 year old architecture. The pageantry of the real meaning of Christmas is palpable. And the icing on the cake.....when all the lights are off and flame is passed person to person can bring you to tears. The entire church is ablaze with just candlelight. Its old fashioned and classical. You can feel every ghost thats been wed or baptized or confirmed or buried from the church. The woodwork is mindblowing. So so so organic. It feels as though its alive and happy that you are in its interior. It couldnt have beenmore any nicer. I brought a friend who hadnt been to church in almost 50 yrs. And he felt it too. It doesnt make a difference when you go...its always FANTASTIC.

Beautiful, classic, ornate church reminiscent of the medieval churches of Europe. In fact, it rivals any we saw in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, England, etc. We did not have the opportunity to attend Mass here, and probably wont since we prefer praying in a language we understand and has meaning to us, and many of the liturgies here are in Latin.

Beautiful traditional mass with confession (in confessionals) available during the service. The music is done by a stunning professional ensemble and the confessors are always really good. Some priests have a gift for hearing confessions and I think these ones do. The art in the church is akin to what youd see in European churches, beautiful traditional statues and paintings, with an ornate alter. I really recommend going here at least once if you visit Chicago for their traditional Latin mass at 12:30 on sunday (go to their website and check out the times in case this changes). If youre a local, Im sure youll want to make time to see this place one sunday. Its also not too far from some great spots to eat, and theres normally parking near the church. Public Transport and walking are also not hard to do in this location. For the ladies, veiling is definitely present but not demanded, so feel free to wear yours if you do. Its also not a bad place to try it out for the first time if you are thinking of starting, since either option is pretty well represented and you wont feel out of place. One last note, there are always lots of children, so if you have kids, dont hesitate to bring them to the traditional Latin service. This wasnt my home church in Chicago, (byzantine catholic, not roman) but I always enjoyed coming here when I did.

The church is really beautiful. The sermons generally have some sort of crazy statements in them. For instance, on New Years Day, the priest at the Latin mass talked about how the blood from Jesuss circumcision couldve saved all of humanity then and there, but instead Jesus sacrificed himself.Other examples usually entailed talking about the weakness of being a woman like when my brother got married there.Or describing what angels and demons look like in great detail even though nobody alive has ever seen one.

This is NOT a Polish parish. But a unique church, in that there are Holy Masses in both English and Latin, both the Traditional Latin Mass and the New Rite, or Novus Ordo in English and Latin, plus several choirs that sing many styles of traditional Sacred Music. There are two professional organists, and a professional choirmaster. There are two Gregorian chant scholas that chant Gregorian chant.
