This is an awesome park! Small, quaint and full of southern charm. Nestled in the famed Charleston French Quarter at the intersection of two of Charlestons most visited streets- Meeting and Broad Streets. With Chalmers St.,the famous cobblestone street on its North side, its they must see attraction. Named after our first President, George Washington, there is a replica of the Washington monument and a large statue of Washington in the parks center.. Nice place to take a breather. Plenty of shade trees, benches and grass to relax on.

Did a ghost tour called Death and Depravity with Ghost City Tours. Overall great. We had a wheel chair bound individual in our group that had trouble following the standard route. Wish management would have taken better consideration of this, as we requested a week prior. Still a five star review bc the tour guide was new and saddled with a big responsibility. Im sure she will improve on that next time. She was a fantastic story teller and gave us some great gory detailed accounts of Charlestons past.

This is a nice little green space downtown. It’s not very big, but it was a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee from Harken Cafe around the corner. It’s a nice spot to take a break in the shade if you’re walking downtown.

Beautiful historic square named after George Washington. I stopped by midday and it was quiet and peaceful. There is a bust of Washington explaining the history of the square (Charlestons first city park) as well as Washingtons visit to the city. There were also several other monuments dedicated to other historic individuals.

One of my favorite places to sit in the shade, provided by the enormous canopied Live oak trees. After walking through downtown Charleston, on these hot summer days, Washington Square is welcoming and peacefulness. The statues and gardens only add to an already almost perfect Park. I highly recommend stopping and take a load off and soak in yet another one Charlestons many places to see.

Washington Square park is one of my favorite parks in Charleston. It is well maintained with plenty of big trees and shade to keep you cool on a warm day. This park is next to the courthouses and post office so I regularly find myself there when I am in need of a place to sit down and relax on a busy day. The park is equipped with wifi so it is also a good place to get some work done too. Occasionally the park can also be used as an event space and it always works well at all of the events I have attended there.

Washington Square is a quaint, yet perfect stop downtown. If you need a break from walking theres several benches shaded by beautifull oak trees and lovely gardens. And of course you can take in a bit of history while relaxing. Theres a number of statues and monuments to view, but for those who are here on holiday I dont believe its worth making a special trip to see unless youre going to be in the direct vicinity. In a city so rich in history and beauty I would not place this as my number one if youre interested in sightseeing, but rather a great and peaceful place for a break while walking in the area.

My 15 year old son and I stumbled into this place as we explored Charleston one night around 10pm. It was dark and creepy looking, so we ventured into the square. Theres a large monument of some sort, and a bust of someone who we didnt bother investigating. Instead, we sat on a bench and watched other people creep in and out of the shadows as they wandered around. It was rather surreal.

This is a very nice place. Plenty a little known American history on the plaques and markers surrounding the park. Exact duplicate of the Washington Monument at his Center with a statue of George Washington in front of it. Dog-friendly Park. A pretty park near a few historic buildings including the courthouse and first fireproof building in Charleston. Nice park set in a busy area. While you can still hear city sounds, the trees, bushes and open spaces help dull their impact. A nice place to stop and take a refreshing break when walking in this part of the city.
