Always enjoy walking through here and dealing with the local vendors. This is one place the kids always enjoy visiting and dont complain. So its a good time to give them some more history of Charleston while we are there.
This place didnt have much to offer the last time we went. This was the first time weve been since COVID and I believe its caused a drop in vendors. We had to wait in a long line due to limits on occupancy, which I understand. Not really worth the wait this time around though.
It was interesting to walk through and see the arts and crafts, but I did not buy anything, mostly because I was not in a shopping mood. Very creative artwork, glasswork, jewelry, prints, baskets and food products. I did not check prices as I was not really shopping, but it was interesting to walk through and get the sense of history.
I’m always in favor of markets like this. This place is great if you like going to small vendors and seeing handcrafted stuff. Very nice quality of work. This is a must go when visiting Charleston. Pick something up so you can remember your trip.
Busy place with lots of vendors and historical significance. During covid, it’s a tough deal with lines to get in as it seems they are limiting capacity. Had good fresh squeezed lemonade at one end. Worth a visit but I don’t prefer crowds, especially during covid.
Love visiting the market. A little different now that they are limiting the number of people inside at a time, but we didnt have to wait to long. Found several things we were looking for.
Always a great way to experience Charleston. The vendors are so talented! I love seeing all of the handmade artwork they have on display. I always seem to find something I cant live without. Its a must do during a visit to Charleston.
The city market was a cool experience. Not only were the people nice, but I really enjoyed looking at all the different things being sold. It had one of the biggest assortment of items Ive seen. One of my favorite stands there was a hot sauce stand. It had all sorts of hot sauces. There were some funny ones in there along with some very tasty ones. I visit every time I go to Charleston.
Love visiting the market when in Charleston. Very very friendly vendors, clean, and applaud them for having things in place to control foot traffic for Covid reasons.
The market had some cool vendors. We planned to visit Friday evening, but they closed at 5 pm, although Google has a later time. We went Saturday morning and it was well attended. A lot of jewelry being sold. Wish there were more food items being sold.
Absolutely love the experience but lacked variety due to covid-19, i assume. Safety precautions in place so thats fantastic!
Vendors were great. Social distancing is practiced. I enjoyed the shops and meeting new people. The restaurant choices are worth going again and again!
Lots of cool stuff to look at and a good little pizza place close by. Because of Covid you had to wait to go in. ( kept number of people inside low) which was a good thing. But Cash is king. Bring it Because some vendors still dont take cards.
Security guards made sure not too many people went in and everyone wore masks. Felt safe....so happy the market is open
Love coming here its amazing every time I come the background behind this is so amazing everything about it I love even just to walk around here makes me happy
Fabulous place to Christmas shop. Favorites Shea butter at Heaven Scents...sweater and scarves at a shop dont know name. Lady super helpful. And the Souther girls cookies shop. Go there when you visit Charleston.
Its so quaint. Daughter found some great gifts for her friends.
Loved it, so many vendors even during this pandemic. People were starting apart and wearing masks.
Very pretty city. Social dostan inv and masks worn in market, except when waiting in line to get in.
Fun place with lots of local arts and crafts to satisfy everyones taste. Convenient parking surrounds the 3 blocks of the market. Wear comfortable shoes!
Not as active as it once was (obviously) but still had some good sales and deals going on.
Went on a Tuesday afternoon. A lot of tables not being utilized. Some stuff was neat to see being sold. There was extremely little to be found for any sugar free foods.
Great big outdoor market filled with crafts,soaps,t-shirts,souvenirs, artwork and jewelery and ever changing items located in downtown Charleston,South Carolina.
If you love historic buildings and the stories behind them you will enjoy and appreciate a stroll through the blocks encompassing the Market. If you are a shrewd shopper you can find bargains from local artist along with some not so good bargains and not so local products. The Market is easily within walking distance on many good restaurants and hotels.
Great place to visit and must I would say if you are in the area for shopping. Great gift and souvenir choices to choose from. Local candy shops are a must if youre looking for a true experience and recommend any praline they have to offer. Also, try the wafer cookies that are just simply the best pairing for coffee. Plenty to see and keep you entertained for am afternoon or morning
Best ghost tour carriage ride. Big Mike and Jason were amazing!!
A fun way to spend the afternoon. Lots to see and do. Definitely make a stop here!!
Due to recent health restrictions this year, what I loved about this place, freedom to walk around inside, is taken away. Now there is an air-conditioned part, too. However, The vendors face the outside rather than inside and are subject to adverse weather such as heat, rain, etc.
Nice variety of booths/goods. They controlled how many people were in the market at a time and masks were required. The wait was only 10 minutes. Worth visiting.
Gorgeous place! Definitely something for everyone, so much variety! My favorites were Kadie Sue Art & Dear Dog!
Opened for shopping! Enjoyed the experience. Bought tea from Tea and Spice Shop, buffalo sauce and coffee rub from Pepper palace, candy from Its Sugar, and praline covered pecans and cashews from a local. Easy parking, great walk, beautiful downtown. Loved it.
Some cool stuff and some I didnt find appealing. The merchants all seem friendly. It is seems like the same stuff over and over again but not too bad to visit if youre in town and want to kill some time.
I have been here 3 months before and i had enjoyed every corner of the market...It is a big market which continues on one road after the other...There are lot of stalls with different varieties of goods for sale.. special hand craft items..It is usually crowded and for me its one the best place for shopping..️
A fun tourist place and cool in the heat. The typical shops... But a fun stop while youre exploring the city.
Very nice horse and carriage ride through the historic district. Guide was somewhat knowledgeable about history of the area.
What is there not to love about this place?OK this has to be one of my favorite markets I have visited. It was clean, eclectic, great vendors, great gift ideas and very unusual things.I did not run into one vendor that I had a problem with. We bought some gifts and I bought a beautiful necklace from a shop in there, my piece of art is called the “Explore Her”. Marahlago is the store where I bought my amazing piece of art that is a beautiful necklace. We found the perfect hat for our dog. It was hand knitted and looks beautiful on her. It is truly a Colorado hat.I absolutely love this market and next time I am Charleston I WOULD go there and I highly recommend you going.
Historical, covid friendly (open air and precautions being taken), beautiful city. I have been here before and there are 3 long buildings( I think ) that before covid were full of handmade crafts, many different things to buy and I even got a massage. Excellent! Worth visiting.
Fun place to shop. Most vendors too expensive though. Did pick up some nice souvenirs.
Great variety of vendors. Food stands were very southern and wonderful to try! We loved the Kepla Blocks store as a great place to cool off with the kids. They have a huge building area kids can just sit and experiment with their blocks. Plan for several hours as the streets around the historic market have lots of great stores, ice cream shops and restaurants. Fun for the whole family.
The market was nice to walk through and see all the local artists. But I guess I expected more variety from art to food. I ended up getting a sweet grass rose. It in a perfect fit in my office.
Me and my dad work here we sell some AWESOME stuff and if u wanna find us we sell cowhides and wallets and book covers and ALOT of other stuff
Went through several shops. Decent prices, friendly merchants and the historic charm only added to the experience.
The Historic Charleston City Market is always fun. It is good to see that it is still open during these times. Instead of walking through the middle in crowds of people, you actually shop from the outside windows. Unfortunately, there were far less vendors than normal.
Hand crafted items. Large selections from different vendors. Restrooms located throughout.
City Market was recommended by everyone for my vacation; however, I’m afraid covid struck and it was a complete let down. There were maybe a handful of vendors and the products were the usual touristy stuff (at least we got a T-shirt and a magnet). Maybe the next time we visit it’ll be better!
Would have been nicer if the kids panhandling palmetto roses for a football team hadnt been there and swearing at each other....
Awesome market! Definitely a great touristy thing to do.
Very tourist trap like, if you have seen one you have seen them all but fairly nice in comparison to others
Alot of nice shops and cool stuff. Usually reall ugh crowded but we went on a monday and there were hardly any people there so it was nice.
Loved seeing all the stalls and small businesses open. The market has adapted well to COVID. Lovely market, worth going!
I love coming here. Sad that lots of it is closed bcuz of pandemic. Great art prints and jewelry
Enjoyed the regular booths and the changing vendors as well! Especially Teri Whitners handmade pottery!
Despite covid restrictions and fewer vendors, the market is open and still full of great buys and lots of fun. One of the must dos.
The line to get in on one end is very long since they are practicing social distancing. The other end of the market is facing outward and you shop from the street. Lots of the vendors have hand made baskets, roses, and such, similar to those found all over the city.
Great stop for a few hours. Great shops given the conditions. Parking was ample. Food in area was great.
Great people and lots to shop for! Make sure, if you can, go on multiple days because there are different vendors on different days.
If you’re looking for souvenirs from Charleston, this is the perfect place.
Beautiful district to visit, have a drink in the various bars, eat pizza or sweets.
The building is amazing! You can feel the atmosphere of human suffering from the past. There is so many unique shops and vendors here its a good place to buy keepsakes and gifts.
Very neat place with lots of things to do and see. Plenty of parking and the sites are awesome
Like sea grass baskets, country store, nice jewelry, more selectioms on weekends than weekdays
After about the 5th stall its all the same stuff. I thought Id have unique artists in every stall but really its 10% unique and 90% buying wholesale and reselling it.
Interesting shops. Cool atmosphere. A bit pricy, but so is everything in Charleston.
Good experience although covid has a big impact on how you get to navigate through. Good deals and nice people.
Have some amazing things would definitly reccomend a visit.
Great historic market with a variety of vendors still selling their wares, what a beautiful city!! A must see when in the area!!
One of the Best places I have visited. Lot of Handmade crafts. Ample of shops each with a distinct flavor. Great place to shop for souvenirs. Great place for family shopping
Great place to spend the day walking from shop to shop or to take a horse&buggy ride and to eat!
Only compliant was it closed too early at 4pm
The inside shopping is great place find art & unique one of a kind gifts. Dont forget to pick up a low country t-shirt while youre there.
Each time I come to Charleston I always cant seem to not enjoy at least a half a day in this great shopping area. Lots of selection great memories I even have mementos that I bought both years ago and he recently. This is truly something I personally love and have loved many times if you come to Charleston and you have yet to enjoy this youre missing out. Please just find a parking spot and planned at least a half a day here you wont regret it....Great representation of local artists and jewelry and Craftsman of all kinds I literally cant go through here without making purchases but all of them are lifelong and memorable
Nice local vendors. We bought a little baby dress handmade for our friend and the lady selling at the store was so warming and kind.
Awesome place to find eclectic items
This place is great! Shine of the vendors are a little pricey but that is too be expected
This was my fist time here. Lots of shopping and things to try out. My family and I really enjoyed it
Pretty cool place. We went on a Tuesday. Not too busy. Its worth a visit. The smell from the horse urine is overwhelming
Lots of vendors with some great things to buy.
Loved the horse drawn carriage tour of the city. Never knew Charleston was so historically interesting.
Part of our wonderful city. I would not change a thing.
I really like visiting this place. Support your local business owners!
Beautiful place. Loads to offer. From small trinkets to scrumptious smelling food delights! Vendors were all friendly and approachable. If you enjoy handmade things and yummy delicious food and all that historic feel.... this is a place certainly not to be missed. Occasionally you would see the horse carriages tour going around and its definitely a wonderful sight!
Not what it use to be...was so disappointed.
While visiting Charleston during a weekend getaway trip with friends, we got a chance to explore the Charleston City Market at night. There were many wonderful vendors there, but I would like to highlight three of my favorites. (1) I love the beautiful, unique handmade earrings from br design co. Although I love the black earrings, I have viewed their website and will also be ordering some of the other colors they offer. (2) The handcrafted cane sugar and organic fruit lollis was awesome. You must try the lemon with organic raspberry. I have viewed their website and plan to try more of their delicious one-of-a-kind treats. (3) The kettle corn from Sweet Jesus Kettle Corn was so delicious. My daughter purchased two bags for my grandchildren. I enjoyed exploring this historic marketplace and look forward to my next visit.
Despite the distancing restrictions, everyone here is warm and friendly. The assortment of goods is remarkable
They have so many interesting things to choose from from many booths. The prices were reasonable too
As always its such a beautiful atmosphere. My family loves coming here
So much history! beautiful place to spend the long weekend
Its so cute here! Lots of nice stuff!
