OMG the Bulldog tour of this place at night was INCREDIBLE! Definitely worth the money and Id like to go back and see it int he daylight sometime too. Even as a local, this is a do not miss!
Went to the 11 o’clock tour, had the Randy as a tour guide and he was amazing. He went above and beyond to tell us everything he knew. If you want something scary but real you must come here. Saw and felt many different things. Highly recommend !!!
Love to hear the history about such places. We went at dusk, it probably would have been more spooky after dark. So if you could get a later reservation do so. Fun time and great history.
Great place to go to get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. One of the pictures I posted, looks like someones in the window ............sleep tight
Crazy! We went on the 10pm tour. We ended up being the only ones. It was so dark and creepy inside. Bruce was such a great guide! The stories made it even better. We both heard a noise from the floor above us when we were on the bottom level. I saw a shadow by the window in the second room, my bf saw a shadow in the hallway. So yes we felt and saw things. I was frozen half the time with fear and chicken skin lol.
It was very interesting! My suffinaificate other and I went. He is from Charleston and has the same last name Todd . If you get Joy as your tour guide she is amazing. Great place to go for sure.
Super creepy, a definite recommend...The jail has an eerie ambiance and will definitely make the hair stand up on the back of your neck! We went with kids for a 7 pm tour, and it was just scary enough...they loved it...
It was just my wife and I and we had tons of paranormal activity while we were there. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the jails history. From foot steps, cell doors closing and even hearing something say shhh was absolutely amazing! Here are just a couple pics I took hoping to catch an apparition however I was not lucky enough but it does set the tone for what you can expect! Randall was our guide and he was AMAZING. Definitely was a night to remember on what is potentially our last visit to Charleston for some time.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and an engaging speaker. Wonderful history lesson of some horrible parts of our past.
Absolutely the best tour, our tour guide was great everything was good we was wanting it to go on, he was very informative and very personable
Excellent guides give you the dramatic and brutal history of the jail. I recommend going at night to enhance the experience. Approach with a respectful attitude and learn from the past.
The tour guide was nice and is very knowledgeable however you dont get to see much.
So much fun! We had a great guide Brian for the tour and for an investigation of the building later the same week. Highly recommended!!
Great tour, and stories that can give people not use to scary stuff a fright, but I wanted to see a ghost. Maybe Im to strong in the spirit they were scared off.
We went on the 9pm tour, not sure how our tour guide Sean did it but as our tour was moving from outside to inside there was lighting and thunder, it really added to the experience. Sean did a great job telling the history of the jail, was willing to take any questions and answered all of them. My wife and I will visit the jail tour again.
It was a.good time better if you could tour more rooms.
The stories were great! Super informative, awesome if you love history and the added bonus of being spooky!
Interesting history! Wasnt visited by ghosts, but the atmosphere was definitely spooky...
Brian did a great job as our guide! He was very personable and informative for our 0000-0200 tour.
So cool but were not able to go in.
We did a ghost walk with Bulldog Tours and we loved it Id definitely recommend.
Really great tour using bulldog tours! 10/10 recommend doing the night tour!
Creepy old building with a gruesome history. Tours are available that go inside and tell you of some of the former inmates and local legends.
Second time taking this tour. This place is creepy and haunted. If youre lucky you will get Sean as your tour guide. Hes the best. Very knowledgeable. He knows his history. If you are in the area looking for something interesting to do this is for you.
Had a good time I would recommend it
Great tour! Michael from Bulldog Tours was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and fun.
Great tour! Highly recommend if you are looking to do something in Charleston!
Born and raised in the projects that surround it. They story of the jail is not true, but it is haunted
1700s jail... Very interesting
Did the haunted jail tour Ill never go back there again way too scary.
Wonderful tour. Thank you for a wonderful tour Mr. Bruce
Got married outside of it on Halloween. Didnt go inside, but it is interesting.
I love this building! Its one of the most fascinating buildings in Charleston with the more fascinating history. I highly recommend taking a tour of this place with bulldog tours when you get a chance.
Awesome place. Hard to find with out GPS. Cant wait to take a tour.
Pretty good history tour at the jail. No ghosts were seen.

Scott and bud were wonderful. Tour was fantastic. Have been on a few already and learned so much more.
Fantastic! You can literally feel the history in this building!
Guide was bossy, but good tour. Did get a pic of a ghost!
Great tour by Bulldog tours
Paranormaly active, spooky level 8.
Really cool place to visit
Bulldog Tours and especially guide Randy do an absolute phenomenal job of giving visitors the full history of the jail, not just the ghost stories but the real life stories of people and events that took place there. An absolute must-see for anyone remotely interested in history.
My wife and I do ghost tours wherever we go. Weve done dozens across the United States. Weve seen some creepy places, lots of death and spirits, and overall weirdness but this place is wicked creep. Thousands of people died and the vibration of that is almost palpable. I never once walked out of a room without turning around and backing myself out, I felt very uncomfortable. Very real stuff going on. Definitely worth the experience. Our tour guide Jack was very knowledgeable and set the tone perfectly. Would definitely recommend.
Very eye opening!!!! Its a must see
It was extremely fun and I did encounter some spooks, I 100% recommend, the stories are interesting and I enjoyed it very much!
Great historical place! Make sure to take a tour guided by Randy, he makes it a better experience
It’s the middle of Covid-19 isolation, so I didn’t take a tour. Just stumbled in and took pictures, because it was such an interesting, if somewhat derelict looking, building. For sale if you’re in the market.
This is one of the best tour.
Our tour guide Shawn was great, good stories about the possible residence of the jail and knowledgeable of the history.
It was a nice history lesson.
A fun, informative tour!
Haunted. Will see again. 10/10.
Haunted Jail tour is a must visit in Charleston.
I took the haunted jail tour at night with Bulldog Tours, it was very cool, and they had good stories to tell. I dont recommend bringing small children because they can be very anxious and noisy.
Beautiful city rich in history plus great shopping and eating.
Important touch stone for Charleston, connections to African American history and architect Robert Mills.
Loved going it was amazing
Awesome piece of history!!! No ghosts, but the building is very cool
We did the Ghost tour here and it was fun would do it again, look out for Wild Willy ! hes lurking around .
By far the best ghost tour I have ever been on.
Didnt get to take the tour, but I heard it was a nice place
You must add this list of things to do in Charleston at night. Our tour guide, Joy, was very knowledgeable about the history of the jail and Charleston.
Not worth the time or money in my opinion. Nothing like the descriptions for the haunted jail.
Heard footsteps more like foot stomps, felt cold areas, definitely haunted.
It was informative tour. tour guide explained history well.
Tour attraction
Great would ho again tons of history
Such fun!
Amazing!
Disappointed in the tour.

After listening to those tragic stories, you would be really grateful to be born in this current era instead of those days.
Randy was an awesome your guide
