The Old North Church towers in the North End of Boston. Tip for first timers: you can walk down certain streets and obtain a better photograph than standing right next to the old Church. Different streets give you different angles. I believe this is pretty much a required destination if you visit Boston as a tourist.

This place is very cool. The church has some great history and sits in a great part of the North area. You can get a great picture of this steeple from the Paul Revere statue just in front of it. It has a lot of great area to hangout and eat a packed lunch if you wanted. I enjoyed my time here and the little history posters that tell you the importance of the building and its history. Its close to the Paul revere house and a cool place to see if touring Boston. Very beautiful place.

Good stop along the freedom trail. The church has a lot of history and the guides provide a nice overview. Believe it was $8 per person to get in. The church ‘boxes’ (see photo) were pretty interesting and overall worth the stop and was nice to take a break along the freedom trail. Nice bathrooms and friendly staff.

Very nice old church, but unlike all the others Ive visited here in Boston, you must buy a ticket to enter. While this isnt that big of a deal, the staff was not really helpful and didnt seem to want to answer any questions. Plus there really is nothing more to the tour other than the church and you cannot enter the steeple. There appeared to be some sort of chocolate store or museum but I had already turned in my ticket before I realized you needed it to enter. The gentleman at the ticket booth do not mention this and simply directed me to the church. The directions simply were not clear, the staff was not particularly helpful, and all in all the visit was less than satisfying.

This is the famous One if by land, two if by sea church. The tower is tremendous and could be seen for a very long distance. Inside see the walked pews (walked to retain heat) and the choir church organ (behind the organ is access to the tower where two revolutionaries went with their lanterns in 1775). See also the now bricked-up side window where they escaped.

The Old North Church (suggested donation $3 per person) is a national historic landmark which you can visit as part of your Freedom Trail sightseeing in downtown Boston. Opening Hours are 9am to 6pm (during October 2015) daily.Built in 1723, the church was constructed in the style of Christopher Wrens many church projects in London. However its is most famous for its association with historical event of Paul Reveres Ride in April 1775. Here he instructed fellow patriots to hand two lanterns in the steeple to warn militia in nearby Charlestown that the British forces were arriving. From the outside of the church, you can view the famous steeple where the lantern was hung during Paul Reveres Ride. If there is nothing else that interests you about the church itself, seeing the steeple and thinking of the events that occurred here in 1775 at the dawn of the American Revolution.Within the Old North Church, you will find pew boxes, procured by families for worship over the centuries. There are fewer information cards within the congregation hall compared to Kings Chapel but the interior is in well preserved condition, making it a nice look-see but not critical if youve visited other churches on the Freedom Trail and are pressed for time.Overall, this is a must-see attraction for those with particular interest in early American history. Those taking in the Freedom Trail attractions will want to make a stop here as well.Note: Not far away is the Paul Revere Mall where you can see a statue of Revere riding on horse. That is nice thing to see before or after a visit to Old North Church depending on which direction you are following on the Freedom Trail.

I highly recommend touring the old church if visiting Boston. I also recommend paying the small amount for the “behind the scenes” tour which will take you up to where the bells are rung and through the crypt below. It is exhilarating and humbling to stand in a place where so much history and well known people have been present. The church itself is beautiful. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, articulate and exuded a pure passion for the past. Don’t forget to tour the chocolate shop next door for some colonial chocolate!

Cool piece of history. I remember watching the movie National Treasure when the father talks about Old North Church to give the bad guys a fake clue as to where the treasure could be. It was pretty cool seeing it in real life. Just follow the Freedom Trail and you will get there. The streets around there have that old time feeling as they are narrow and have old sidewalks. Definitely something to see when youre in the Boston area. They ask for a $3 dollar donation when you go in but it is not required to enter.

Discounts available for some holders of Old Town Trolley passes, seniors, military. Beautiful church with great passive info opportunities, but I was VERY disappointed with the tour. The guide seemed rude and apathetic and more interested in making snarky remarks than encouraging a love of history in our group. I was not impressed with him or the girl who ended our tour by speed-reading through a well-written account of the Churchs history. She also seemed disinterested and apathetic. I hope they can improve their interpreter team for the better.

The Old North Church is, of course, historically famous but also interesting since the inside is still set up the way churches were nearly 300 years ago. Make sure you walk around and look at things. We did notice that someone was talking to those inside as we entered so we just missed out on the little tour information they make every so often. There was also a couple of boxes for donations near the entrance. The neighborhood still has an old feel to it as does most of the North End portion of Boston. Dont miss this church, the Revere home, the old nearby cemetery, and the rest of the North End.

While the history of the church fantastic, architecture impressive, and the grounds well maintained, I cant say I really enjoyed my experience here. The fact that they now charge 8 dollars per person to enter is rather insane. First off, this is not worth 5 bucks to see. The inside, while amazing, is just not worth paying for. Any average Catholic church looks the same. In all honesty it was just as busy even with charging to get in, so there are no pros to this new change.I recommend this place to everyone to stop at and look at, make sure to get a photo of Paul Revere on the back. However I dont recommend actually going in to anyone, its a waste of time and money.

The fees here are out of hand. Very poor value to pay to go inside. Very similar to another church on the freedom trail with only a small optional donation. Almost what I would call a tourist trap. If they simply charged $1 per person then more people could afford to see it and they might collect the same fees. This literally a 10-20 minute stop if you are walking the trail. Ironically the trail celebrates a fight against high taxes and fees and now it is full of them.

Checked out the church and did the $2 tour. Loved it learning a lot of interesting history and it was fun to learn about the church.WARNING:The crypt area is very small, appearing fragile with really worn bricks, concrete, etc. on the wall and feels like a crawl space you can stand in. IT IS NOT JUST PASSING THROUGH. We spent 15-20 minutes down there. Super interesting but also somewhat creepy and uncomfortable.I would do the tour again, however, would have appreciated it more with a heads up about the crypt experience prior to getting a ticket.. or the option for a quick walk through and the tour info before or after the crypt.

Did the behind the scenes tour to go up to the bell tower and down in the crypt. Our guide, Spencer, was incredibly helpful and informative. He kept the pace of the tour good and interesting. Was really surprised that the tour was focused more on the bells of the church than the history of the revolution, BUT I was pleasantly surprised by the information provided. My son was a little bummed that we did not get to go up into the steeple - but thats dangerous and not practical. I dont remember seeing that limitation before we got the tickets however so it seems like you should be going up there until you actually get to the tour and then they tell you that you dont actually go up all the way. Its still worth a tour, however, as you do learn a lot of things you didnt know that you wanted to know.

Our first stop on the Freedom Trail! We were able to buy tickets for three of the official sites on the Freedom Trail here, which includes admission to Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, and Paul Reveres House. These tickets never expire, so you can save them and come back at another time if you want. The Old South Meeting House is a meeting house for the Puritans to worship. It was the largest building in Boston at the time, and it is most famous for being the organizing point for the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773. On that day, 5,000 colonists met at the Old South Meeting House to decide what to do with the taxable tea sitting at Griffins Wharf. After failing to have the tea sent back to England, Samuel Adams stated, This meeting can do nothing more to save the country. These words were rumored to be a secret signal to the Sons of Liberty to walk down to Griffins Wharf and dump the tea into the harbor, marking the start of the Boston Tea Party. As you can see, there is just so much history and colonial significance in this place! And the interior is really beautiful, especially since its arranged in the traditional New England meeting house style. This is definitely a must stop on the Freedom Trail
