Park is okay, but the hours are bit confusing, on Google here it says it opens at 8AM to 6PM every day but on the Cypress Creek website it hours on there says 06:52 AM to 06:02PM from sunrise to sunset. The park itself due to COIVD-19 seems not too busy but however the one with the boat ramp seems free to enter as there is no park attendant manning the entry. The water is very low that exposes muddy banks making the terrain muddy to go fishing. The boat ramp on the website says it is temporarily closed. Again the water level is very low, nothing man can do about it. Swimming is risky with rocks, branches, and trash in the way. Even going hiking can be risky with steep rocky incline, insects, and snakes possibly to be encountered. Clearly swim at your own risk. Nothing precisely fun to do there at the park than enjoying nature in life. Just to cite the park rules since I do see litters, glass bottles, and consumed beer cans around the park areas. The following are prohibited:CampingFireworksGlass containersGround firesOff-leash petsPublic display of consumption of alcoholTobacco products
Nice little park. Two entrances to park. Boat ramp side has a fee. Other side is free. A few picnic tables and grills available. Bathrooms on site. Trashcans on site. Finally back open but check website/call ahead for hours if/when there is another Covid-19 spike.
Nothing special by any park standards. Some scattered benches and grills. I enjoy it most for catfishing. Caught my new personal best channel cat of 16lb there.
This park isnt very big but it is all lake frontage. We went during COVID twice before everything shut back down and they were doing a great job managing park capacity. Cant wait for it to open back up!
Absolutely beautiful! Hidden clean gem for a easy hike.
Excellent little Launch Location for Kayaking and other Types of Paddling. My Favorite Paddle-Trip from here is CYPRESS CREEK TO STARNES ISLAND LOOP. I last paddled this trip 07/14/19 with a Local Paddle Group.a PADDLE-TRIP LOOP approx. 3-4 Paddle Hours along approx. 7 Lake-Creek-Miles (actual trip miles will vary)from Cypress Creek Park - Boat Ramp (lower Lake Travis - Cypress Creek) down creek to Arrowhead Point - (off mouth of Cypress Creek - lower Lake Travis) up along Lake Travis - (north shoreline) past Macks Canyon Creek - Gun Hollow Creek across to Starnes Island - (lower Lake Travis - mouth of Sandy Creek)looping back to Cypress Creek Park - Boat Ramp
Its a park on one side and boat launch on the other side... Dont expect amenities other than a plastic outhouse... There are old iron barbecue available...bring your wire brush and charcoal...also lots of lighter fluid to burn the grills clean.
One of my favorite places to fish for bass. There is a nice convenience store coming in from the Austin side they have bait. Be careful using spinners there they drive the water moccasins nuts and Ive hooked one just about every time. A raft can get you to the little finger east of the park and the underwater limestone shelves make for some good size fish ons.
Saturday was my first time here and I loved it! They have public restroom, picnic tables and grill. Everyone loading and unloading their boats, jetsky, etc was nice. Place looks clean. It was a bit hard to install an umbrella because the ground was very hard and also gets pretty windy so bring hats because theres no shadows here.I ABSOLUTELY recommend to check under the tables! We were very lucky to not be stung by a huge nest of wasps!
Clean, and really pretty to have a nice picnic.
Great little area to grill or do some catfishing. Not really all that suitable for swimming, to many branches and stumps in the water. Parking is very limited. Maybe 10-12 cars.
Fairly small park, nice location for picnic and taking a dip in the lake. $5 per head entry fee.
Good place for picnic, nice view of the lake and hills, good place to relax, but there is no trash bins near picnic area.
Good spot got there early to get a good spot in shade bbq swim family time best thank yall
Would like to have purchased annual pass, not currently available. Everything in great shape and the water level is good.
11-2019...Nice park. Last year the water was high enough to fish but its receded by 20-30 feet as of today. Still a great place to sit by the lake and BBQ or whatever, just dont expect to fish without a kayak or boat.
Nice little park with good water access. We launched our kayaks from here with no issues. There is good bank access also.
My wife loves taking Sunday afternoon walks here and its only 10 minutes from home to boot!
Muddy and lake is down. Park is clean and good people hanging out
First time fishing in Texas great time caught lots of fish.
Great small park. Fishing. Boat launch. Picnic. Go soon. When lake is low boat ramp will close. Two sides. One free. One fee.
Loved getting to chill and fish at Cypress. Although didnt catch a lot of fish, the accessibility for boats and trucks to go out into the water was wonderful. Plenty of shaded areas to sit back and relax. Surprised that were werent many mosquitos! Definitely a plus.
We tried to go on Sunday web site said they were open but no one was there it was around 11 am
Great little area for the kids to play in nature. I just drove by this and decided to stop for an hour. Theres even a little picnic area off a small trail that faces the water. If you have a canoe or kayak, this would be a wonderful place to come and enjoy the peace & quiet. There were a few people fishing as well. Nice little spot.
Always low amounts of people. I wish the water level was higher but you cant control that.
Beautiful relaxing place
The park is actually a four star for me. The 2 star rating is because of the Travis county commissioners putting a $10 entry fee....then adding a $5 fee for towing a boat trailer in to launch. $15 a day to launch and fish....what a disappointment....and a ludicrous way to treat our local men and women who love the outdoors.
Good place to launch a canoe ir kayak. The park is clean. Peaceful atmosphere. Well definitely come back to launch our canoe again.
Nice place to come in relax
Writing this review on behalf of my boyfriend as he frequents this place to fish. Peaceful little spot where you can take a boat out or fish off the bank.
Gave magnet fishing a try here at the boat ramp and scored: a key, a bobby pin, and a bottle cap.
Always clean. Boat ramps! YES!
Water is low, but many sun fishes and basses.
Easy place to launch your boat.
Nice lil spot. Nothin but a pretty txt stop on the road for me..
Great place to visit and at night you can listen to nature.
Excellent little park. Mostly boat launch but several people were there playing with their dogs. I wanted to try out a new lens so we pulled in. Did you know parks (state or county...forgot to ask) are free if someone in the car is 62 or older? Love it!
Beautiful spot for an evening reading
Great....when youre the only one there!
I think this is the best marina on the lake. It is not pretentious and the other people who have their boats here are friendly, respectful and nice. It has fair prices on their slips and the cove right there has become the new cove to hang out at. Great views, great people, great time.
It’s kind of sad to see what this place has become recently but it was always my favorite place to launch my boat, specially a couple years ago when we got all that rain. but since I moved to new location in Austin, my boat is now on the water and no longer have to launch it all the time. I always liked this park and never had any problems here “ever”compared to other places and other boat launches on lake Travis.
Great day not busy at all
Very cool place to chill... no bathrooms
Really enjoy the hike/bike path. I love that it doesnt have too many lights/too much light pollution along the trail at night. But, if that is a concern you might avoid walking the trail at night or stay by the lake.
Nice park to launch our boat from
Pretty little park on a forested road that is a lovely drive in itself. Nice for a picnic or a short walk along the lake.
Pretty well maintained Travis County Park. Its a little muddy, and really in the small side, but a nice launch point for boats. We like to launch our kayaks and stand up paddle boards here and head out to the got swim spots around this area of Lake Travis.
My family came out and launched our boat from this park. Very clean, well maintained, no complaints whatsoever. The person in the entrance office was polite. There was plenty of parking.
Let me guess, the other reviewer just moved to Austin from NYC or California and has no idea Austin is experiencing a huge drought right now. Of course theres no water, the lake is 60 feet below full levels! The park is still enjoyable if youre just looking for a place to sit under a big blue sky and enjoy the day. Keep in mind, though, that if the lake isnt full this is one of the first places thats going to lose water access.
Awesome little park with a great lake view.
Easy boat launch when water is high
Water is up and clear. Beautiful day!
This is a very beautiful quite serene place. Theres lots to do here, like for example fishing, kayaking, hiking. You can also BBQ with the family.
Its nicee
The boat launch only has room for two trailers, and thats only if youre really good at maneuvering your trailer in reverse; this makes it time-consuming to be going into and out of the water, especially if others arent proficient in launching (which was the case both times). The parking lot is really limited, and anyone not pulling into their spot exactly right will limit how many trailer spots are available. There were exactly two trailer spots open when we arrived, but one of them was far too narrow because of the just-slightly-off parking job of one of the trucks beside it. Also, a small car parked in a long trailer parking spot for some reason, wasting another spot. The description of this park hailed its BBQ grills, picnic tables, and bathrooms. But there was exactly ONE grill, only TWO small tables, and a measly port-a-potty. No shaded tables or areas were provided at all.The swimming area was okay, but getting down to the swimming area from the parking and picnic area was a nightmare, especially with small kids. The entire way down was littered with rocks and pebbles making it very difficult to keep your footing down the cliff. I nearly slipped multiple times each time going up and down. I imagine if a worker would take a rake to the walkway, it would decrease the probability of some major accidents happening. Had I known this problem in advance, I might have brought a rake from home or something and done the job myself, but I dont just carry one around with me or anything. In order to get the boat out of the no-wake zone, it took nearly ten minutes each direction to get out of the vicinity of marinas and personal docks. If we had known we would have to go slow for such a long stretch, we would have looked for a launch far closer to that area. Having to travel that far when dropping off and picking up people to take turns on the boat was very frustrating. The gate attendant only accepts cash and check. And they dont have any military discount whatsoever, which was very surprising to me. I could understand paying the $12/car that we paid if we were getting some amazing facilities. But even if this park were *free* to launch out of, I cant say we would visit it ever again.
Came here throwed with friends, almost stumbled into the water but the lake is absolutely beautiful at sunset
Cool park.
It was clean and it was a great place to launch our kayaks. I thought the fee was high since the park didnt have much to it besides the ramp, there were just a few picnic tables and a grill.
Great little boat ramp
Lovely..Tranquil and pretty spot
I love this place. So great for dates and watching the sunset.
A beautiful spot.
It is a great park to walk around and it is always clean. I would definitley recommend this place for taking kids or just a relaxing walk.
Good place to drop in for fishing. Easy ramp to get in and out of.
It wasnt welcoming
Book your party boat tour!!! fun times!!!
Nice and clean place.
The water may be low but its still a beautiful place
Beautiful place have enjoyed it since I was a teenager. But lately people are leaving a lot of broken glass & fish hooks everywhere
Nice weather even tho its cloudy
This Park is a hidden gem. So happy my husband showed me this place...
Absolutely lovely view.
Beautiful!
Great place to spend some family time
Very great view.Nice clean area and great local shopping.
Not off leash for dogs
Great place to launch a drone and check out the scenery
Great place to fish
Water low today but nice
Hiking trails, swimming holes, picnic tables, and boat ramps. A bit pricey for little to nothing to offer. (Tables & pits looked run down)
Very relaxing place to hangout.
Clean and maintained properly, easy access to the water.
Lovely place
Got view very relaxing and close by for fishing
What happened to the water?! We are supposed to be like 95% full at Lake Travis but the water is so far down the bank!
Small quiet park
Not much water now, good place to go think and ponder.
Clean, trash free.
