I loved checking this place out. Too bad it closed down. I hope someone invests in keeping it open and maintained. This could be a great place for a food truck, coffee shop, etc.
Very cool artwork and tags. Wish it was open to walk around and see up close. Not well kept or maintained
Beautiful views but it is locked up due to future construction. Which is kind of pointless, why not let people utilize until it starts? Someone educate me.
Where else can you bring a spray can and paint right over someone elses art and not get arrested or beat up by a gang this place is awesome for kids looking to express their artistic side and a positive environment it is kind of like a toxic waste dump though the trash is terrible but its a great concept and its very top of the property on the other side of the fence is the castle also very cool. So if youre driving around Austin Texas looking for something fun to do for a few minutes I highly recommend stopping here its not like some place youve ever seen definitely unique and highly recommended
Very fun spot to check out! Lots of different levels, great photo opportunities. People can buy or bring spray paint to contribute to the park. Nice walking area nearby as well. Definitely check it out!
It’s fenced in, but still pretty freaking amazing. If you plan on walking around and getting up close to the art, think again. The City of Austin plans on making upgrades to the Graffiti park. For the time being you’ll have to watch from afar.
We went on a family trip to Austin and my daughter suggest this would be our first stop...it was very nice the grandkids enjoyed tagging. Its not all about the tagging its about the art work hard work!! A few artists were set up their with beautiful art work!!
Grew up in Austin and had only drove by a few times. Artwork different everytime. On our visit we discovered the multi-level areas as we ascended to the top. What a magnificent view of the city and Capital. There was an artist starting his creation as we were leaving. This is now on my favorite pass time things to do as the artwork is forever changing. A must do for everyone, locals and tourist. Excellent place to bring your out of town/state guest. KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD AND KEEP AUSTIN GRAFFITTI PARK
Aside from the art in the park, the park itself is art. The fact that it is always changing is part of the wondrous allure. If you love something there you better capture it quick because it could be gone within the hour. I wonder how many masterpieces lie beneath the depths of layered paint. Need I tell you to go? Bring your camera even if you arent a photographer. Assist in capturing art that will disappear.
Ive been seeing this park show up on random websites for a while now and I decided to finally go check it out, however it was surrounded by a wire fence and doesnt look like its being maintained anymore. As far as I can tell the park looks like its closed now, but you can still see it thru the fence and get limited pictures. Im sure it would have been much cooler had it not been caged off.
Would of been fun if it was actually open to the public. Property is enclosed with guard 24/7
Very cool place! Shows off a lot of different talents of artist. Only thing I did not like was that although I understand its free reign of graffiti some people werent artist and just spraying. Definitely worth the stop because of the history of all of it. Enjoyed talking to quite a few different people.
Really interesting and creative place. Various beautiful art spray painted throughout. There was an artist gallery, food truck, and people selling spray paint so even the kids could add their own creations. Just be careful trying to climb to the top as it is steep and theres loose rocks you could slip on.
Sadly was fenced off cuz of covid when we went but still able to get some sick shots
This place had some incredible art, as well as a nice view at the top. Note that the hike to the top is a fairly steep one, and Id wear shoes with some tread if youd like to walk up.As far as parking is concerned, I would recommend finding somewhere further away and walking down. Finding a spot nearby isnt likely and do expect it to be crowded with lots of families, teens, and young children running around spraying paint everywhere - dont wear your Sunday best.Getting to watch some of the artists in the act of painting was pretty cool, but you can never predict who will be there or what you might see - worth a visit!
The HOPE Outdoor Gallery is a wonderful cause for local artists. I thoroughly enjoy my visits here each and every time. I make it out every other week at least, and its always a new experience. The only time I steer clear of it is during particularly touristy times / height of the summer because the higher foot traffic results in the murals getting more tagged over than usual. Besides that, the community has a general consensus to tag alongside artists work rather than over their pieces - Respect the artwork and it will remain a beautiful and ever-changing canvas :)
Great little spot for pictures, shoots, nighttime rendezvous. Just try not to inhale all the paint fumes. You can bring your own spray paint and add your touch here.
Artists were showing their work and the spray paints are available if you want to get your hand dirty by spraying on some walls. It gets hot in April, thats when I was there so prepare to pack water and anything you need for the day. It offers a great view of the Austin downtown so come best dressed as possible.
Awesome spot to check out if you like street art of any kind, great to explore the different levels, interact with local artists posted up selling creations, and adding your own pieces if you have cans/anyone around is selling them. Very cool spot
Unfortunately, in less then a year this place will be destroyed and no one will remember it but it was a great time while it lasted.
There was graffiti on the wall. The gates had locks on them so I guess we werent supposed to go in.
The talent in the hope that is in this place is just remarkable it will break my heart to see it close.
I never saw so many graffities on walls. They looked really good. Its one of the best street art.
This was a fun stop on our vacation in Austin. A cool place to take pictures and spend a little time looking at all the different graffiti on the walls. There is even a painted bush. You can climb up either side to get to the very top of wall and you will have a beautiful view of Downtown...you will probably not spend alot of time here so dont make it a big stop on your list. The wall sits in the middle of a neighborhood on a hill so there isnt much to do directly around it.
Im so glad I got to come here! Theyve been threatening to tear this place down for years. So Ive been on edge for a while, unsure if Id ever get to see it in person. But no. I made it. And it was everything! Parking wasnt bad, but keep in mind that not all cars are meant to take the steepness. Austin natives know what I mean, I had to figure it out the hard way. Bring some spray paint and go to town! Dont be afraid to use your hands to climb, and wear good shoes! Boots are best. Especially for gravelly spots or places with soft. Powdery dirt.
The graffiti park is a beautiful venue in Austin. Its a great place for photography. I dont think they provide you paints there,so make sure you carry yours if you are going there. We stopped there on our 2 days trip to Austin before flying to Utah. It was fun letting our child side paint there.
This is such a unique place; theres no other park in the country, to my knowledge, where you can freely spray paint to your hearts content. Im not an artsy person, but Id recommend this to anyone.
Unfortunately many civilians come with cans and spray over the beautiful artistic murals. A few lovely ones but also lots of garbage and messy names slapped up on the walls. Overall, worth seeing if already in the area.
Is beautiful for those who appreciate a different art and for those who doesnt, it has a great view from the city, only for that is worthy. I would also recommend taking your own spray can and leaving your mark there. I imagine that would be a little hard for older people or someone with special conditions to go on the top, but nothing too hard. Is beautiful, different, modern and has a great view.
Stopped by here on a bike tour around Austin yesterday! It was really neat seeing all of the artistic creations on the wall. Very colorful and expressive! I just wish people would clean up after themselves; theres such a huge litter of spray cans :(
We had fun, and the kids really enjoyed it. But its really too hot during summer time. It was too hot to fully enjoy. We brought our own spray paint, my kids also gave two kids a bottle because they didnt have any. Perfect for outdoor activities when weather is just right.
Nice place to visit, entry is banned now no trespassing anymore
Super cool place! Family had an awesome time here. This was a quick stop while passing through. Lots of graffiti art. Recommend bringing some spray cans if you are wanting to actually write something. Only thing Id have to gripe about is that people are spray painting randomly over actual painted murals done by artists.
Fenced off and you cant enter. You can still see from afar. Still cool place to visit
Its closed even thought it says that its opem, drove 1.5 hours for no reason
Beautiful scenery. Very nice people there. Lets you breath and be yourself, do your own thing. I love coming here!
I enjoyed all the art it was very spiritual
An amazing place for Mural and street art lovers. Its not just a wall, its a place, an atmosphere, lot of creativity. Youll also see a nice view on the city. From 7 to 77 year-old, everyone comes here to draw! Definitely a must-see in Austin!
This place is super cool, but its closed! Theyre tearing it down to put up some development. :(
Eventhough the park is fenced off bc its going to be torn down and relocated, there are still some great graffiti art in the general area. You can still bring your own cans or there actually might be some there already. You can still get some great pictures off the fence. There is a 24/7 SECURITY guard there so do not try to break in. At the time we were there the current security gaurd did not mind letting us know the story behind the fence so asking wouldnt hurt.
Great place to bring friends to take pictures or just to make some art. the art is constantly changing here since anyone can graffiti here. theres a person selling spray cans for $5 but most people leave their cans that they dont finish for other people to use which is super nice. there are some other artists who sell their work here as well. parking is street parking. this time around we didnt see as much cool art ... most of it was words and doodles and not as much art. less photographic. most impressive pieces in my opinion was the Batman and the wolf.
Fun experience! Be sure to bring your own paint.
Great place to be around if your love arts and paintings. You can spray your own graffiti if youre having a spray can with you. Its a legal Graffiti park.
This is a neat place with cool art. Stayed for about 30-45 minutes. Recommend you go earlier in the morning due to the heat.
Very cool place full of different art. You can also take spray paint and make your own contribution. Its family friendly, theres often food trucks nearby so you can get a bite to eat and theres also artists that sell their work. If your in the area you should check this place out.
This is a must stop when in Austin. The art changes almost daily. We went on a Wednesday and a guy was working on a mural that when we went back on Friday was already covered over with another mural. Variety of Art is also exceptional. From experience street artist to amateurs alike this is a fantastic place to display your work. We went a week after SXSW and saw some fantastic pieces. While youre there take the short hike up the hill to have a fantastic View of the city in the distance. Definitely a spot to see multiple times while in Austin and if you have the time stay and watch as one of the Fantastic artist work ad is it is very exciting to see the art come to life as a finished product.
Wonderful outdoor gallery. It is interactive - though you will need to bring your own spray paint cans :) Not to difficult as there are a handful of hardware shops very close by. I would definitely warn that after rain climbing the slopes to get to the uppermost levels can be quite treacherous, however, the view of Austin from the top is worth the effort. This is not a sight you want to miss if visiting Austin.
Cool art. Free parking (only a few spots) and a really nice view of the Austin skyline if you are willing to hike up the hill
I loved visiting Graffiti Park! Took photos and climbed to the top. Luckily found some spray paint cans partly full and added a few initials, drawings. Fun. Please be aware that there are trip hazards like bolts sticking out of the concrete. Watch where you step, particularly if you climb up. Very steep, a bit rocky but worth it for the view of Austins skyline.
Super iconic. There were all sorts of people here when we showed up a sunset. Some people brought cans to paint. There was also a super cool guy selling photos of art painted in the past.
I love this place its so fun and constantly changing. You get a beautiful view of Austins skyline too. Its such a shame they closed it so they could cram more houses in.
Another highlight on our trip was the Graffiti Park at Castle Hill. I was surprised how much I adored this spot, as I’m not usually the graffiti loving aficionado over here, I’m sure you’re shocked. But, it was super cool. I recommend grabbing some donuts at VooDoo Donuts, a can of spray paint and heading over in the am, while it’s still cool.
It was dusk when we went but so cool and a castle looking house Peaks over the cliff it was so cool
Free! Dope! Beautiful! Take spray paint! Tag your name! Just respect everyone elses work and find a clean unused space. Worth the drive...
Take some time to check out these pieces of art. Changes constantly to make sure to take pictures of your favorite pieces. Simply awesome!
Stumbled upon this little park, theres alot of graffiti EVERYWHERE in this park. Pretty awesome artwork by whoever did the bigger murals but there are people in the more accessible places they will spray paint the date and their names over artwork already there and even people who did the same in the past so if you go write something here, might not be here next time! People selling little murals to the side and people always willing to help you take photos! PEOPLE, everywhere. Dont expect to get a picture of someplace without a few tries, its a tourist attraction so that means its always busy, but that can be a good thing. Altogether pretty cool for an artsy group of people but I wouldnt say bring your kids here to play around lol its not a real park and theres plenty of places for kids to fall in holes and other little crazy places here!
Such a cool place when i was a child i would love to come down hear with my mom and watch the old art being painted over the new. There are new things to see everytime i recommend seeing the hole thing and finding places in corners and more remote places to see some of the cooler things in the park.
This is a pretty cool place but they are about to be torn down. It smelled of spray paint and anyone can come and spray. If I went back I would bring a spray can. There is litter everywhere which is sad. There is some amazing artwork on the walls. It will be saf when it is torn down.
I recommend wearing comfy shoes and clothes you dont mind getting dirty or paint covered. Take a can or two of spraypaint. I am no artist but I still had fun participating and left the rest of the paint for others to enjoy too.
The graffitis dont stay very long, bit of a hike if you go up on the left side and an easier hike if go up to the right
Get rid of the barbed wire fences. This isnt the soviet union.
Amazing outdoor art work. Great place to explore. Hidden gem right in the city. Bring your walking shoes, the view up top is breathtaking!
Great view of Austin. I did not use any spray paint. The retaining walls/graffiti look awesome. Ok for kids. Also, the Chevron down the street will let you use their bathroom & sells 4-pack tall boys of Shiner Bock
Its really cool if you like are and a little tiny bit of hiking. The top has a gorgeous view of the Austin State House and skyscrapers. Theres also venders there who sell spray paint for cheap so you can make your own art :)
This was a fun spot for older kids. Beware the difficult parking and steep hill climbing, and consider wearing tennis shoes. Beautiful view of downtown Austin from the top and a vibrant view of the graffiti and castle on the hill from the bottom.
So much to look at and climb on. Make sure you bring some water and comfortable shoes, youll be climbing up and down. Overall, this place is amazing! Great view once you get to the tippy top.
Always fun and great! Parking is a difficult but totally worth seeing! Even fun to grab spray bottles and paint your own artwork!
This place is permanently closed. But you can still see it with a fence around it.
The view from the top is something else. I love it. Full of colors and life
It’s not a big stop if you are visiting Austin. It’s cool and different but sometimes the fence is closed and you can’t get in! Over all it worth seeing but it take you long!
This ever changing outdoor gallery showcases some real cool art that adorns the walls. Free to walk into and add your touch to walls.Only wish people hadnt covered the artist works with their names and random messages ... but depending on when you visit you might see some real cool stuff
Pretty neat to kill some time. A cool, public, collection of graffiti art. I definitely enjoyed walking around and looking at all the art. Not to. Mention, theres an awesome view of the city. I do with that some of the trash was cleaned up, as there was garbage all over. However, it was free and within walking distance from where we were.
Neat spot to visit and spray some Graffiti. Bring shoes and a can or two of spray paint. Parking is tight, there is a small side-street you need to parallel park on.
Awesome location to stop by and get creative. There were a bunch of people enjoying this location yesterday when I visited. The art is ever changing and evolving which is a significant part of this locations allure. If you are feeling up to it, you can climb to the very top up near the castle and enjoy a solid view. Its a shame I learned that this location will be taken down on the last quarter of the year.
If you are ever in Austin and want to leave your mark..grab some paint and head over to Graffiti Park. The place is visually amazing and offers budding artists a FREE public venue. But be sure to bring your paint and climbing shoes because some of the best work is at the top!!! The mosque is in constant change as old work fades and is replaced.
The place is closed now and most of the graffiti are missed.
This is not a place for kids. My sister and brother in law were excited to bring us here (they arent parents) but we automatically realized this place is for adults. We walked around and up the large hill, we took some pictures but I ultimately wouldnt go back. The fumes are really strong if that bothers you. So not a family place but Im sure young adults would love it.
Such a cool experience. So amazing how color and art can bring people of all kinds together.
This place isan amazing addition to the Austin culture. While it isnt your usual travel spot it is somewhere that anyone can leave their mark and be a part of something great. This is art. Also, this place is going to be unfortunately demolished soon.
Summary: Constantly evolving art. It is basically ruins from an old construction site that people use spraypaint on to make elaborate graffiti. A fun place where you could spend an hour if just looking, hours if painting.Cons: It is really hard to find parking and its not good for young kids (8 or younger) or elderly people who have trouble walking up steep inclines or generally moving around, or who could get easily hurt. More traditional people in your group would probably find this place sketchy, boring, and be vocally judgmental.Pros: great place to have fun, and you can paint here also if you want. Theres some climbing involved to see everything so it is also interactive. Local artists put a lot of time into this, so some of the painting is pretty elaborate and detailed. This would be good for a trendy date or afternoon with friends. There is food nearby within short driving distance. I would be careful from wearing anything super nice as you might get scuff marks or light paint marks on it.
Graffiti was said to be a tradition of Austin coz yo u will see them everywhere, including hospitals, salons, streets, and restaurants. So, i think this park was nice enough to give you a couple of photo to see other artists works and create your own. I climbed on top of the park, and see the skyline of Austin which was a great view and there was an street singer right behind me. What a romance to me :)
So much more fun than we thought, will be going back again. Highly recommend, but take some spray paint!!!
It was nice to see. Be careful trying to get to the top and back down.
I love this place! Always new murals going up and you can often see the artists painting a new piece. Its 3 stories of creativity! It really epitomizes Austin. There is a small trail to get to the top on the northern side of the lot. Unfortunately its going back under construction this summer so we wont be seeing this location for much longer. There are also venders set up at the base close to the street who sell photos of different murals over the years.
An amazing place to visit if you love any type of artwork or even want to contribute. Theres typically artists there either selling their work or creating it. A downfall to going here is that its really hard to find parking.. we had to go a block away. Id definitely recommend going at the end of the year when its not as hot and the plants arent in the way. BRING COMFY CLIMBING APPROPRIATE SHOES. If you dont intend to climb all the way to the top then wear whatever you want.
Beautiful place for fun, funky photo shoots! A bit dirty; could use a good cleanup. Parking is pretty terrible, and a police officer was constantly circling and issuing tickets for those parked in the wrong spots. Not much in the way of shade, so dont go in July like we did!
I was hoping for more art then random tags. They need to paint over certain parts and have some artists come and pretty then place up.This is a fun place for a free date, tag your name and do a little climbing. Take some pictures.Bring some spray paint!
An amazing adventure in art. Bring your own spray paint and you can add to the action. I’ll admit, the amount of trash left around there is so very disappointing though.
Perfect day out; love going and seeing all the new art work that the locals do. Great place for families and a random date!
During the day theres often a volunteer selling cans; BUY SOME: despite tagging what seemed like every leaf & bottle in the place, I suspect my would-be vandals have an appreciation for the writing craft after seeing first-hand how difficult it is to get a clean line, let alone a mural. Watching others throw up some nice work made the kiddos want to up the quality too (they started using two colors in their tags!)
A cultural hot spot in Austin, always a fun place to visit and express your creativity
Wear good shoes for climbing around and bring spray paint to leave your mark :)
My understanding is that this place changes alot. I would have liked to see a little less tagging and a little more actual art pieces.
Never seen anything like this. So much creativity, worth going there to take pictures .
If youre in Austin and have gone everywhere else and have nothing to do, this is a good place to stop by. Wasnt really impressed by it. Everyone is just spraying graffiti on the walls and the place smells like paint. Better to walk here than drive, its a very tight street.
