So good! We came here after having done the Minerva escape room at Decode Ann Arbor, which is also great. Out expectations were definitely high, seeing as Decode Ann Arbor was probably one of the better escape rooms weve done, and boy do they deliver. Its tough to write a review about an escape room without giving information away, but Ill say that the theme was fresh and interesting, the puzzles were challenging, but not so hard or obscure that they become frustrating, and as always the staff here is phenomenal. This place is an absolute must if youre into escape rooms, or even if youve never done one and want something fun for a group to do.

This place is awesome. The storyline is really neat, and there are multiple rooms, with some really awesome puzzles that are challenging but not overly hard, and the mechanics of the rooms (e.g. unlocking new puzzles, etc.) are really cool. Ive done the escape room twice (the same one) and it still feels like there is more to do each time, since theres enough to do in each room for the group to divide and conquer. So whichever puzzles your sub-group doesnt get to do this time, you can come back and try the next time. Theres a nice big common space with a large table, and a place where you can bring your own food, catering, etc., plus a cooler for drinks. The owners/employees are super nice and accommodating ... they even helped me set up the food when I brought a group there, and handled clean up of the trash at the end. Great customer service, very flexible. Awesome experience overall, both times Ive been there.

What an awesome experience!! Staff was extremely friendly and inviting. The entire experience was just phenomenal. The puzzles and challenges were interesting and fun to work. The decor was so fitting with the theme, I just cant say enough! Decode Ypsilanti set the bar high!!!

Awesome experience. I had a request for them to handle a group of about 40 people split into 6 groups. They handled all of our requests, time changes, and other inconveniences incredibly well. Super helpful and engaging staff. Could not recommend this escape room more for any group size.

Great escape room! We had a group of 5 and we had a blast. I had only done one escape room before this one and I would say this one was far better! The puzzles were creative and challenging, the theme was magical, and the technology and intricacy was impressive. I love that this one can be scaled up or down depending on how many people are participating and how you are solving the challenges. I cant wait for the new experiences to come out this summer!

An absolute must! I had never done a room before, and the staff were incredibly cheery and welcoming, and the challenges were creative, intuitive, and expertly engineered. The entire place is beautiful too, and the story and flavor are top notch. Cant recommend it enough!

Love this place! I’ve done the mini “magic lessons” and also the larger game. The story line is fantastical and fun, the design of the space is so thoughtful and there’s a great mix of puzzles for all types of brains throughout the games. My work is hosting a team-building event here and I can’t wait!

One of the best experiences I had, my family and I had a ton of fun. Definitely exceeded all of our expectations. If youre hesitant on trying it DONT BE!It included mind challenging puzzles, teamwork and even live entertainment.

This escape room encases you in real adventure. The hosts are so accommodating and the space is alive with magic. From the minute you walk in the front door to the fun of the puzzle this is what I imagine when I want to do an escape room

This place was really fun The guy working there was nice and a great actor for all of it.It was cool to find all the hidden secrets and places we went through mixed puzzles.

My husband and I have done our share of escape rooms....Decode Ypsilanti is hands-down the best one we’ve been to so far! The staff were great - kept to their roles the whole time, the rooms were immaculately built with magical themes, and the puzzles were not your average putting-numbers-into-locks-to-solve-clues. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

The program was so fun! The worker was super fun and really into it. The puzzles were fun and just difficult enough that we didnt get frustrated or solve them really fast. Cant wait for the other games to come, will be coming back for them!

Best escape room in the Detroit area! (Maybe Decode Ann Arbor/Detroit are better but I havent been there yet). Creative, well thought-out escape room. There were no number/alphabet combination locks that most cheap escape rooms have. I thought it was money well spent for the experience I got. A lot of technology involved and I was happy to solve lots of puzzles under an hour (thanks Finnick!) Definitely recommend for a first time escape room since they provide a lot of guidance and clues. They arrange the difficulty based on how fast you go through the puzzles. I was well taken care of and enjoyed going through multiple rooms!

Decode Ypsilanti is a great new location in this area! After having done 15+ rooms in the past few years, this is one of my favorites. The entire building is thematic from the moment you enter the front door. The puzzles in the Aurora Society are very well done - mostly logic puzzles with clever clues and hints. They minimize the use of numerous padlocks, which are commonly found in escape rooms. The room is beautifully designed with lots of hand-carved wooden pieces.If you’re a fan of escape rooms, put this at the top of your list!

Once again the folks at Decode Detroit have raised the bar. This is best they’ve done yet. It’s worth visiting their rooms at each location! #1EscapeRoom

Incredibly immersive experience, super high production values, even the facilitator / introduction person stayed very much in character. Challenges are multi-faceted and overlay the underlying logical task with other elements which really require a coordinated team in order to complete. We did this with our family of 5, of which the youngest is in 6th grade, and even she felt like she had a great time and contributed to the team. Although you can book with groups as small as 3, that would be very difficult due to the physical nature of some of the challenges. An ideal group size is probably 5 to 9. As it was, even with 5, we were often multi-tasking where one person or pair was working on one challenge while the rest were working on the next level or challenge, or exploring the room to find clues.

This was my first experience for an escape room and it probably ruined all other escape rooms for me!! This is so well done and really kept us on our toes. I will absolutely recommend it to everyone!

I went to celebrate my birthday with a few friends, not really knowing what to expect. IT WAS AMAZING! We had so much fun and cant wait to go back. The puzzles were different and catered to many different skill sets with out being impossible to solve. My group of 4 even escaped with just 5 minutes to spare!

Up to the usual very high standards of the Decode Detroit organization. I appreciated the adaptive difficulty, which seemed very seamless. The technology all worked flawlessly and the puzzles were good and fair. The room we did was probably ideal for groups of six or so.

Decode Ypsilantis Aurora Society escape room is a great immersive experience. Its not just figuring out combinations to locks, like some rooms. In fact, I think there were only two traditional locks in the whole place, which is saying something! The puzzles were fun, if a little math heavy, and the whole experience tied together really nicely. We went with a group of 10, and everyone was more or less involved and doing something interesting the whole time. Im looking forward to the next level escapes that are being planned.

Outstanding escape room. Ive done about 8 or so now, and this may have been the best done one Ive been at. Only major knock against it is that we had a large group (10 folks) and that was probably too many. At points a few people had very little they could contribute. Id suggest capping your group at 8.The puzzles were great and it was easily the most elaborate and prettiest escape room Ive seen. Just amazing.

Had a great time. The host was very engaging. I loved how private it is. It was challenging and fun. I want to say more, but don’t want to give anything away. I will definitely try more of the “Decode” rooms.

This is a must play escape room. Awesome staff and great acting (is that marisa tomei in the robe??). My favourite experience in Detroit, the emotional roller coaster, the incredible ambiance, really makes you feel like spiderman!

I havent been to many escape rooms (this was my second) but this place really raised the bar. The story telling was great, and the puzzles were very emersive and progressive which made it more fun than just solving trivia puzzles.

We had a blast with this escape room! The storyline was unique and the puzzles they had were great. We went for a bachelorette party, so we had a larger group (around 10 people), and everyone always had something to do. They were very accommodating waiting for everyone in the group to arrive. They even gave the bachelorette a little gift at the end, which was sweet. Would definitely do an escape room with Decode again!

Another well put together escape room from the Decode Detroit team. The room decor is beautiful and the puzzle design is innovative, engaging, and exciting (how do they come up with this stuff?). The Decode Rooms are probably my favorite rooms I have done (out of 13 total so far!). The only downside is that I have played all the Decode rooms at this point. I cant wait until they make another room!

Our group has done a number of escape rooms and the Decode Detroit ones (including Ann Arbor and the new Ypsilanti location) are among our favorites. Decode Ypsi has the familiar decode experience with logic puzzles as opposed to the search and unlock you see in other escape rooms. The room itself is great and the new puzzles and atmosphere are wonderful. As always the staff is amazing and really improve the overall experience. Check this place out - you wont be disappointed.

Our family has participated in 5 escape rooms. This is one of our favorites. It is super interactive and it gets tougher if your group is doing well. Great for our 10 year old up to our 15 year old.

I went with Brady (who also left a review here). The puzzle were logic based (Opposed to riddles and find the missing thing). The focus was on solving puzzles. All the math puzzles were algebraic.

This was a very well done and a great time. Thanks for the great family time.
