We were looking for a way to enjoy the day out in nature. I didnt tell my two children where we were going because I knew that they wouldve declined. They said that they actually enjoyed all of the sites. We also did the nature trail afterwards.
I remember going here on school field trips many years ago and having a really nice time. Very beautiful place and I hope to return some time in the future.
Nice stream, good museum, nice main walking trail. Overall it was a good place to check out and go far a little nature hike.
Loved the new nature trail . And, the Nature Center never disappoints. Friendly staff. A hidden gem in York County!
What a great place to take the kids.where they can explore. my grandson lived the nature center and their array of animals on display. and its all free.
Well kept trails, wonderful educational tools inside the Nature Center and on the trails, ample parking, and easy access. They are also always looking for more area to incorporate into the park for more trails.
Great nature center to visit no matter what season. We went on a cold day and slightly raining spent over an hour in the Nature Center and took a quick 20-minute walk on paved trail. Good place to check out birds and lots for kids to look at.
I came across this place on Google. I saw a lot of wonderful reviews already, and they hardly do justice. This discovery center is two stories of lots of interactive things for children to see and touch. Then they have a map that showed maybe 10 different trails to take including a fully paved one that is very easy for strollers. If youre adventurous like we were, you can take off on the geology Trail at the end of the paved trail. Its a little trying, but we made it through with a tiny little stroller. An off-road jogging stroller would have been preferable, but it might be a little wide for some of the areas. Is a nice mostly smooth but semi bumpy from the roots and rocks.
This park always has something interesting to do. Hiking trails, different displays about south central PA. Man made pond and stream. Places to picnic or relax. Birdwatching and much more!
Love Nixon park beautiful place to take my daughter and nephew to learn about nature and even better its the same as it was 20 years ago when I was last there beautiful place so happy its still there and all about wildlife education still!!!
Great trails. Good place to go to have so alone time to think things out.
Live reptiles, a small gift shop, a library full of nature books, a stuffed passenger pigeon, rooms full of taxidermied animals from around the world. Its got a lot for a small place. Oh! Almost forgot the best part. In the winter there back window overlooks several bird feeders which one can see a multitude of birds happily feeding. Its a joy.
A gem in York County, great nature programs, tons of trails, and good, natural family fun.
Absolutely amazing park. The free nature center has a unique display of stuffed animals. Highly recommended.
Great trails and creeks. Awesome for kids. Tons of trails and nature
Wonderful place to enjoy nature and all its glory!
Walking trails and displays in yhe nature center.
This place is amazing. Very impressed.
Our familys favorite park. It has such a peaceful feeling. Very scenic. Four all ages. They have simple hiking trails, hard hiking trails, peaceful sitting spots and a beautiful nature center inside. And they always have cool events. We love the bees!
Great place for kids
Awesome little park with some short trails. The Nature Center is definitely worth a visit.
Super cool lots of events for you to enjoy with the family too!
Lovely grounds...great wildlife....not crazy about the taxidermy
Great taxidermy display in nature center. Hiked several trails and picnicked on the nature centers lawn. Great trails, fawn crossed our path, lots of birds and squirrels. Hot day shady trails. Regular stop every summer.
One of my favorite Nature Centers. Donated taxidermy gives you an idea of size of wild animals.
Well maintained trails, about an hour to hike the whole way around the outer loop at a brisk pace, one of my favorite parks
What an amazing collection for people to see its great to see places like this still available to our youth this park is fantastic and the Nature Center is one not-to-miss rather youre a kid or an adult kid
We go with our school and its nice to wander around and learn more about nature. The staff are always very informative.
Although I have reason to be biased may it be said that York County has an active and engaging park system.
Adorable place and overall educational
Reptile week in July and very cool atmosphere.
A great place to bring children as there are walking trails, and things to see and do inside. Some trails are stroller friendly, others are not.Its free to visit, but please remember to leave a donation if you can.

Amazing place. A must see
Nixon Park is an excellent source for family fun and learning about the nature around us.Nixon has trails to walk that include easy through moderate hikes. The trails take you through many different natural surroundings, such as a grassy meadow, a hardwood forest, and rocky mineral rich terrain. In the quiet of the trails you can hear many different bird songs, watch white tailed deer cross your path and even bump into the occasional box turtle.Nixon also boasts a first class indoor exhibit hall containing hands on learning and fun for children, bird watching, bee watching, as well as a myriad museum of beasties of every type from all across the world. The center also had clean restrooms and Koala changing stations for families with little ones.Nixon has a well thought out learning trail close to its Indoor Center where the children can get up close and personal with geology, biology, and botany in the fresh air while maintaining a guided feel to the trail. This area also has a small amphitheater like setup right next to an active brook.Another user here gave the park low marks for its lack of uninformed staff. With respect, I disagree with the low marks for that reason. The park is largely staffed by volunteers who are there because they want to be a part of the experience. A lot of the volunteers are also young people who arent going to have many answers. In conclusion, what the park lacks in authoritative workers it more than makes up for in their zeal, their desire to be a help, and the shear beauty and number of offerings within its boundaries.Huzzah to Nixon Park.
Really informative staff
Fun place for lids great trails
Nice and easy hikes
Small but very resourceful!
So much to do! We really enjoyed it!!!
Love it all .
The taxidermy exhibits are a bit out of place, but the local exhibits do a good job of complementing the park. Check out special events like kids summer camps and Reptile Week.
Awesome collection of donated taxidermy, live native species, visible beehive, bird watching and more
Great trail and fun
It was a gorgeous day too walk nd enjoy the weather
Great family outing
Amazing place to visit with children!
Nature center is like a small museum. Nice trails and wildlife
Lots of things to do nice nature museum and hiking trails a real treat
World class museum, more like Night at the Museum than dusty and dry! Fun, interactive, hands on stuff and cool family programs. Go outside and play in the Sensory Meadow or on the trails.
A gem of York county.
Richard M. Nixon County Park is one of the best park / nature centers we have been to. Huge diorama of nature. 180+ acres of land, complete with several ponds and miles of hiking trails. The nature center itself has a huge collection of stuffed quail, turkey, bison, elk, beats, deer, antelope, etc. The story is that a famous hunter in the York County area donated his collection that had been gathered from multiple international hunting trips prior to his death. There is a welcome center, small library, bird viewing arae, bathrooms and 2 floors of exhibits. Theres a really nice bird and butterfly exhibit. Large dinosaur mural is a hit with the kids.Be sure to visit Perrydell once you are finished here.
Shows the kids and adults how to interact with nature and always respect it.
Dogs are not allowed on trails but every other kind of animal is
Lots of things to see in museum always updating
