This trail is well shaded and secluded, but definitely a tough hike. Its on a sharp hill and it can be a bit slippery, but all the hard work is worth it when you make it to the top. Make sure you wear shoes with good tread on them and drink plenty of water.
I love this hike. Lots of incline and partial shade so beware. Also, watch for rattlesnakes and all the electric fencing. Not a whole lot of signs posted about the fence being live... watch your kids!!
Nice area to walk and hike. Lots of goats were there today. Penned up but looked like they were happy
Nice wide well-maintained trails and dotted with trees all throughout. Great for kids and taking your dogs out for a little hike.
Great place to go hiking and exploring. You will see and hear some wildlife ie. rabbits, squirrels, and a number of different birds.
Great place to get a quick hike and if your looking for a longer hike you can hike to arroyo pescadore from here.
We always enjoy our hikes here. Sometimes parking is a challenge. But worth a visit. Good views at top of the hike.
I swear I saw zombies, scary af, I will never go back.
Great hike! The natural surroundings really helps you feel like you are getting away. At the peak, you can see the surrounding cities which makes for a spectacular view.
It was absolutely gorgeous, everything green and lush! Whittier had a ton of rain about a month ago, so the path was still a little soft in spots. Not too crowded either.
Nice and easy. The earlier the better
Good trail behind La Serna Highschool. Small area to park.
The trails are safe and clean I enjoyed this area very much I felt great. A few trails to choose from also and safe off road parking
Great mid level hike
We enjoy hiking in Murphy, there are big tree for shades and the slope get your heart pumping. Distance is about 25 to 40 depending on your pace, therefore you can easily choose once or twice.
Pretty good place for a starter hike. Definitely going back again
Its a medium difficulty trail and there are lots of sunny areas so wear sunscreen and drink lots of water.
Nice park with partially shaded trails. Good on sunny days.
Nice place to hike!
Nice quite place to hike.
One of my favorite local parks. Ive been coming here since the 70s. That dates me (lol). From the top of the trail, on a clear day, you can see Catalina Island, then look right to see down town Los Angeles. Incredible views!
Park looks dry needs major love
Lovely environment mainly uphill type hike
Such a great family friendly place to hike, just mind the coyotes. Its also a great workout and cardio.
Nice place, but there are a lot of people who come here to drink or smoke, so watch out. Hiking place is really small and has decent views.
Nice, little nature area and trail, kind of hidden in a hilly residential area. The trails are tree lined and it was nice to shade hop to rest and rehydrate along the way. It was over 90° the day we went. There are no bathrooms or accessible water, so you have bring your own. The damaged sign/map at the trailhead is very difficult to read, so we just explored what looked like cleared trail areas. Spotty to no cell service, so we couldnt look the map up online. There are cement picnic tables in the trailhead area, which are nice to sit and rest after hiking, or to just go enjoy a picnic out in nature. It was kind of disappointing that people in the nearby parking lot were smoking weed and also making the picnic table area smell like other chemicals.
Very private and good hike trails.
Its a nice, clean & shady trail. Dog friendly.
Great uphill hike with my doggie Kai
Awesome hiking trail that is hidden within the city. Nice and leisurely walking trails with plenty of trees that is pet friendly.
Nice lit walking trail park very small parking lot but nice beginner short trails there is a drinking fountain and a couple of picnic tables there
Nice 1.5 hour walk among the trees. Uphill sections a available, but not too strenuous.
It was nice til I ran into two shirtless dudes smoking something funny. It wasnt weed lol
Paecefull.. Nice views i love this place
Great hike with many diverse trails that differ but are great individually... Gives you options but watch out for rattlers
Lovely place
Seriously the best park in all of Whittier and the surrounding area. Its trails may not be as long (a full loop is about 1.6 miles) but the instant you step into Murphy Ranch you are surrounded by nature, civilization disappears. I lived in big basin state park for two years, and now in Whittier this is the only place I will go. Its the best.
Beautiful setting. Dirt pathways. They could clean up the trash.
I loved how there were trees everywhere. Pretty green compare to alot of other hiking trails around here. We also encountered a coyote, best to go there with a company.
Good place to walk and and enjoy the great outdoors..
First time visiting this awesome park! So beautiful!
Good short hike or run.
Short hike but steep terrain. Loved it!! We even came across a huge coyote. The first for my daughter
My first time hiking this trail and it was beautiful! Not too difficult to hike
Lots of trails to take! Weeds are dense right now so you cant really see where youre going, but it was a great climb up and down, good workout overall!
Great place for hiking.
Shady and beautiful. Nice trail loop, nbn enough parking and picnic tables, no bathroom.
Very nice short hike. The park is extremely clean with trash cans along trails. The trail has some nice descent hills for runners. The loop was approximately 1.3 miles long according to our Runtastic app.Thank u and enjoy ur lard burn!
Great place for hikes, weather beginner or advanced. Something for all
Nice trail well maintained and not long
A great little place to hike in Friendly Hills just right if your new to hiking and lots of trees for shade, bring a friend get your hike on!
Weve been visiting here for many years. Absolutely love this place
Very nice park.
Great hiking park leashes on for pets.
Love this place. Perfect for all levels
Gorgeous little park, tucked away in the suburbs. The massive trees make this small valley a wonderful place to take a stroll/hike, and the wide dirt paths are idea for walking dogs (or children) around!
Nice little park for a short hike, can be a little strenuous for those of us not so fit :) At the top you can do a loop in the neighborhood to extend the hike even further - just dont get lost or itll be a really long hike.
I love this park and trail. It smells great with the Eucalyptus Trees through out the area. Significantly less trash, dog poop and people on this trail. Excellent views from the top. All in all an a pretty fantastic hike.
Wildeness park. Good for hiking. Mountain biking. Taking the dog for a walk.. Trails all over..
Beautiful site of LA area from the top of the hill, intermediate hike, 3 different paths to choose from
Great little trail with shade. perfect for people with small children
Great hiking spot.
Great family friendly hike.
Good place to hike
Beautiful place for a walk ..anytime...
Hiking trail was fun, not too hard, flat areas are fun for little kids
Fun place to hike!
Its a great trail I was able to enjoy it with my 5month old baby
Its a great place to run, hike, walk your dogs, or mountain bike. It is tucked away in the hills behind La Serna high school. No restrooms are available but there is a drinking fountain. There is not much parking but enough for those who frequent the park. Its an average park with few trails to take.
Great park to go for a short hike or walk with your dog! Nicely covered with lots of trees for a mid-afternoon walk out of the sun!
I been back last month for work and enjoyed my stay. Staff were friendly and service was very good.
Love hiking here
This park is absolutely breathtaking during the winter everything is so Lush and green and the River on the bottom when is full makes the place so peaceful
Nice little community park, in its very natural form
Great place to hike with some inclines and some tree cover but watch out for the snakes. My dog stepped over one almost freaking it out. Had to pull his leash hard.
Nice super nice
Best place for younger kids to learn to hike.
Neat park if you want to get a short brisk hike or run in on trails and hill
Great place to spot coyotes
