Great hiking with a few short options of steeper routes paralleling the less arduous route. They all tie in together. Due to Covid19 pandemic, Still closed.

Really, not a bad experience at all. I would do this trail again for trail running as it’s perfect for that. I would rate it easy walking when you’re not going uphill. The views are wonderful. It’s too bad LA views are smoggy. I recommend going early in the am or late for a sunset view. Otherwise go in the winter at any time. Don’t forget your lanterns if you stay past dark !!

Hellman is my local hike/trail and i am so grateful that it’s so close to home. Today i came with a friend and we arrived at 8:40am so we could get good parking. The park ranger opened the gates at 8:50am and we were able to go right in. Be aware that the parking for the hike is extremely limited and you are unable to park on the streets next to the entrance due to required permits. So arrive early if you want to make sure you get a spot. If you don’t, you will have to park a little far from the trail. There are several routes you can take while doing this hike. One is typically the harder than the other which is nice because you can change routes as you go. On a clear day the view from the top is spectacular!

This was a great hike. It took me a while to find a parking spot but once I found it, was totally worth it. The hike up is pretty steep but the workout is totally worth it. Once you get to the top the views are amazing. Great view of LA and downtown LA. It wasn’t too busy which was great so you are able to enjoy your hike.

Its located in Whittier right behind Rose Hill, the hiking area is called Puente Hill Habitat Preserve, there are many trails over there, but most of them are steep which makes a good workout ground, so its not suit for small children, and there is completely no shade, need prevent harm from the sun and bring plenty of water, the best time to visit this park should be spring.

I tried it out for the first time and its a great workout if you are looking for a challenging hike. The hills are steep and requires some endurance. It has beautiful views when you reach the hilltops! You can even see the Buddhist temple. The only downside is parking sucks, even if you go early. Its a residential area and requires a permit on most streets.

If youre a beginner this place is not for you.. its killer!!! Its pretty cool if you can hang and like these steep trails. Do not trust anyone who says its easy lol. Its actually way worse than it looks in these pictures. There isnt any shaded areas up here... there is a parking lot for maybe 12 to 20 cars.

Been coming here since the late 90sAlways a good cardio work out. Or maybe u need to get away and think. In any case great place for a walk, hike, and or jog. Enter on green leaf. The trails have been modified from years past. Starts of with very killer steep trails......Down side is parking. Even though they added parking spots.....sometimes u cant find one. And btw no parking on turn bull canyon rd entrance. those been eliminated.....sucks but I guess the residents had enough of all the traffic and people showing up. Also no bikes and seems like they are strictly enforcing all the rules and regulations as posted.

Great hike!Although Im pretty disappointed that the City of Whittier has approved for the park to open so late (9am) during the Summer is already so hot by 9am. And if youre caught hiking before 9am you will be cited. Saw this poor guy hiking back to the main entrance while the Ranger officer was waiting to open the gates-he got cited :(

Huh..... where do you park?Since the park opens 9-5 now, why not sell day permit for people who want to enjoy this beautiful trail?I am sure City of Whittier can figure something up about the parking.Went into City Hall their only suggestion, you can park at the parking structure and walk up to the trail head.Help local restaurants and shops.Once the people are done with the hike, go shop at local area, grab lunch or dinner.

This used to be a great place to hike. Now theyve implemented such strict enforcements in the name of conservation that the only time its open is during the hottest hours of the day and when most people are at work. Theyve completely eliminated access to the TC trailhead to anyone but residents when more parking would have been useful. Other cities and trails can handle higher foot traffic; this is clearly not about conservation.

Been coming here for years. Dislike the new hours, though. We should be able to hike whenever we please. Also, one thing that really annoys me is the people with blue tooth speakers! Youre doing it all wrong! We come up here for tranquility, to escape the loud sounds of the city. Not to hear your music. You can do that at home. Absorb all that nature has to offer, tune into your thoughts and mind. You cannot hear rattle snakes and other animals with your music blaring. Please respect nature and others.

This used to be a great place, I grew up on these hills, but now the city of Whittier and the park rangers who administer these hills have killed the beauty that belongs for all to enjoy. The new hours and how they enforce them are nothing short of dehumanizing.I was recently locked in here and the park ranger made it a point to give me a citation, a white blonde blue eyed lady went on a power trip to the point of almost macing me and putting me on my knees. Keep your children away from her.

Great place! here is some short story for you!One time in my chemistry class, while the teacher was talking, this guy asked loudly, “Does anyone have any lotion?” The teacher stopped talking as some girl gave him some hand lotion. The guy proceeds to slowly rub the lotion on his face as the whole class watches him in confusion. The teacher asks him what he’s doing, and he responds with “I forgot to moisturize this morning” and puts even more on his face. The teacher asks him to go to the hall to finish his moisturizing because he’s being a distraction, and after about 10 minutes he still hasn’t come back in, so someone opens the door to check and he’s still smearing lotion all over his face. He finally comes back in and hands the girl her lotion, and he’s used up half of it. Now people call him lotion boy.
