Awesome jewel in Wenatchee! A little muddy the further up you go this time of year
Lovely hike. Not too difficult. Went with my dog. She loved it as well. Very quiet. Not too many people on the trail.
Great local hike close to town!
--- Overall, a nice moderate level loop trail with a decent intensity workout due to elevation gain that affords great views. A Great but short loop. I was there somewhere between 30-45 mins. I did feel it though.-- Please read this all if you are interested in a decent idea of what you are going to encounter.-------To set the stage. I am 50+, a former heavy smoker, and just getting back my hiking legs. I used to solo hike into the Colorado Wildernesses so before I lose the ability I am trying to get my hiking legs back so I can do some more back country trips before I lose the ability to.I can power walk for a good couple of miles on flat surfaces such as Wenatchee River Front Park. I was barely able to complete the full 10+ mile loop on my Mountain Bike. I need intense elevation gains to start my back country training. This was perfect while still having time to get my cardio workout later at the River Park.-------This is a short loop that also allows you to connect to other trail Areas so I think you could be there for hours if you wanted to.Like others say, there is parking behind the Racquet Ball Club that is specifically assigned as Trail Parking. It is legit. When I went, there was a Road Closed sign right by the trailhead but I just went past the 20 or so feet and turned into the parking lot. Once again, it is legit parking with signs along the fence indicating so. The trail and parking are open. This would be a pleasant loop hike with TRAIL SAVVY young children as there are cute little cartoonish signs along that way that depict kids in the forest with flashlights spotting various wildlife and such. They are spaced fairly close so if you have a whiner, they may actually get excited and want to get to the next one. No labels, no Words. Just cute pics. You may here your kids say, They found a raccoon! Also, along the trail there are other informative signs and a 2 or 3 picnic tables and a stand alone bench. I did not notice ANY restroom facilities. The trail is in the open, no shade. Be warned!I decided to go as the sun was approaching sunset as I am not heat or sun tolerant. When I arrived, I was one of three vehicles. One left as I was going up. As I was leaving, there were about 10, so it appears there are many who know the deal with the best time to hike. Hike toward the evening or early am due to heat.Elevation gain was fairly sharp. The trail bed was decent though fairly narrow, often times being a shelf trail, cut into the side of the hill so not recommended for people with balance issues.. I personally would not bring a dog due to that unless it was very well mannered around people.WARNING: I believe that if it rains it would be come very difficult to walk on. It is a dirt/clay trail with little to no gravel bed. It looks like it could easily become very slippery.Enjoy!
It is a fun trail to go on.
I hike Jacobson almost every day. From the trail head up to the water tank most of the trails have gentle slopes and are easy to walk. Above the water tank there are several much steeper and more difficult trails to climb. Some areas have difficult terrain and good hiking shoes are a must. I recommend using poles for stability especially for your decent down as there are several areas which have a lot of loose rocks and gravel.
Gorgeous views. Start early in the morning because it gets hot quick.
Muddiest trail I have ever walked on. Like wearing three pairs of shoes with glue on bottom. Make sure it hasnt rained for three days before you arrive, or just wait until April.
This is a Wenatchee classic if youre in town for a few hours or a few days. Dont go mid-day in when its hot. Moderate climb to spectacular views and cool formations.
Love it every hike, every season!
Great hike without lots of people! Many trails to take.
Going up the back way to saddle rock area. Trail is steep in areas but a good challenge. Take plenty of water, Gatorade and a few snacks. Flowers were blooming, little lizards were out. We didnt see any snakes, heard others had. Fantastic views
Great views!! Super muddy right now so wait til it dries out! (January 2020)
Beautiful trails and pristine country! Help us all keep it that way by packing out everything you pack in and also be mindful of where you park as trailheads are semi-residential. Enjoy!
The first part of the trail is a slow incline. Its great for young children and has a couple good look out points. If you keep following the trail to Saddlerock, there are some steeper spots along the way.
Nice easy trail for families and kids. Beautiful spring hike. Lots of wildflowers
The trails are amazing this time of year. However erosion is very much a problem this year from the heavy rains.
There are some trail reserved parking spots in the WRAC lot. Nice time of the year for a little hike.
Trails are well marked, beautiful scenic views, pretty steep inclines in places but nice trails
Nearby parking along street or reserved spots at Wenatchee Racquet and Tennis Club. Beautiful walking trail with good climb, lots spring flowers are blooming. Grasses are green all over the hills. Best time to hike Wenatchee Foothills trails. Watch for snakes they are enjoying the sunshine too.
Awesome place to check out the view
Very nice short hike today, but if weather continues to warm, it will melt remaining snow and become muddy.
Has some interesting interpretive signs about the ecology of the area.
A somewhat less traveled path on the other side of Saddlerock- if you follow the path far enough it connects to Saddlerocks. Nice hike and nice views of the valley, especially beautiful with wildflowers in the springtime. Trail system is a little confusing because of an alternate mountain bike trail, but if you go down, you will make it back to your car, and if you go up, you have nice views all the way around and you can also do a loop in which you see new things on the way up and down.
Clean well preserved trail
Relative to Seattle area trails, these are deserted on busy days. Parking is sketchily mapped though. Good views.
Great day hike
Great views.
Short hike great view!
Great view of all of Wenatchee
Great hiking trails for the family.
Good hiking with beautiful views
