One of my favorite exhibits at the zoo! The amazon river fish in the displays when you come in look ancient and alien. The non-aquatic animals arent behind glass, so you can get up close with the spoonbills and have fun searching the trees over head for where that sound you just heard is coming from.
There is always something new to explore in the Amazonia at the Zoo. Look how lucky these guinea pigs live. Every one has unique furs. They are so cute. I think its great to have them.
I am extremely satisfied.
Awesome every time I go! Those Amazon fish are massive!
Coolest building at the Zoo. Animals roam pretty freely and the fish are in huge tanks (the fish are huge themselves too!). They have a cool electric eel exhibit and lots of educational material as well as the ability to get up close to the animals.Make sure you walk through the other side of the building. All of the frogs are over there!
Great exhibit. Very cool fish and birds. Electric ell is pretty cool.
All those poisonous frogs...the colors are absolutely beautiful!
My granddaughter and I love watching the fish in this beautiful tank. We love to walk through the open Amazon jungle exhibit upstairs so we can find the free roaming animals.
They got improved recently.
Great place to visit. Great for families.
Amazing experience
Amazing fish and amphibians
A great place to see plants and animals from the Amazon! The walkthrough area is neat, with the birds so close to you.
We had a great experience. We got to see lots of animals; everything was clean; things are spread out, but the walk is full of interesting information. I think its a shame that they charge for maps and dont have many large directories because its not an easy place to navigate, but we had fun figuring it out
My son enjoyed himself very much..
Loved my experience there. I wish it wasnt so cold so we could have seen the cats but it was still worth the 2 and half hour drive
It was wonderful. Its a nice place to spend quality time with the toddlers.
Wonderful place, amazing animals and the apes where so cute
This is the best part of the zoo. It is peaceful and zen. Come see it
Tucked into a back corner of the National Zoo is this amazing building filled with fish, birds, and amphibians. Educational exhibits abound, and large birds roam free! Great place to take a break from the weather when visiting the zoo. Worth its own visit even if beautiful outside. Kids loved it!
This was a great place to visit on Easter. It was actually less crowded than I expected.
Such a cool place for kids, my toddler could have stood looking at the enormous fish for an hour. Wish there were more animals in the rainforest section, but the ones we saw came very close for us to look at.
One of the harder to find buildings of the National Zoo, however there are a lot of cool animals here. The building mainly showcases Amazon fish and other sea life, however there is also a jungle area above that has a few monkeys and other tree dwelling animals, while also giving you a look down onto some of the sea life from above.
They have a huge selection of fish and reptiles, a personal favorite, and the selection they have are amazingly unique.Fun for children. Lots of exotic animals.
I liked this place because of the animals but, the water is warm and you have to be ready to walk far. +its free to get in.
Amazonia is one of my favorite exhibits at this zoo! Its hot and just like the Amazon! The birds are loose, so its a very realistic exhibit.
Wonderful place to chill and have fun with kids
A great part of the National Zoo. Great fish exhibits and a walk through area with animals and plants.
Not really impressive. This is a small area of the Washington Zoo, but since you are there and it is free, it worth the visit. But being from Montreal and having the Biodome there, we were not impress by the content....fishes mainly, some monkeys and birds but nothing more you coundnt see elsewhare in other location and parks.Again, the zoo is free and the Amazonia area is included, do not expect that much, but if you visit the zoo, lets have a look. It take about 30 minutes to walk through the amazonia building
Free entry. Centrally located. Good facilities. Well signed.
Who doesnt love the zoo?
Awesome! Good luck finding the sloth! The monkey sitting above your head was so cute !
Nice stuff I think you should go in the morning to see most animals.
Its much nicer! Its cool inside, not too hot like before
Very nice place for wild life. But closes early
One of the best live exhibits I have seen in any zoo. Into the world of amazon that you might not even see much on tv. Fishes, frogs, insects, birds.. this has it all. If you ever visit Smithsonian zoo dont miss this.
Cool animals, and very cold on a hot day.
Not as many animals as you would expect. Everything is way over priced. Like 12 dollars for a simple hotdog over priced no wheel chairs or power devices for the physically disabled or those that caint walk long distance. Also the place was surprisingly filthy inside cages and abroad the park definitely dont want to touch anything.
Could have more... But they had more than ever before! 8th or 9th time there and first time all the animals were in! Was a nice change
I liked how you could see the animals I also liked the various animals there.
It was interesting see exotic species.kids to learn also.
Little warm and humid but nice amazonian forest.
My childs favorite part of the national zoo. You can see the animals up-close and from many more angles than in a more traditional cage environment. Weve gotten great pictures of the spoon-bills from only a foot away.
One of our favourite parts the National Zoo!
Great way to experience amazon jungle, free roaming animals, unique fish and reptiles on display
Great experience!! My 1 year old was looking at the fishes, turtles and everywhere. Pretty nice design of the area and awesome different animals!
Walked in on a weekend showers up to the zoo early around 1pm to see all the exhibits. Seen every one by 6 pm. Started by the petting zoo to the Amazonia which had a little but of animals upstairs in the rain forest. Could be better. But im from dc so I grew up seeing the changes in the zoo. So if your from out of town the whole zoo is self is worth the visit. Visit the Asia Trail.
Beautiful!! But most of the species was hidden. The hot is very high and them prefer stay inside. But was a good time.
It was a very nice place to go
We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed every moment of it
Best part of the zoo
Is hidden spot of the zoo, you wont find it unless you know its there... love it
It was decent, we expected more animals...
This is an awesome exhibit with big fish tanks, birds flying free, amphibians, and a cool open reason Forest area.
Such a great placeMy family loved it. We learned a lot in the exhibits
Look like the real thing a little bit. They even let the tiki monkey and some long billed bird roam free. They say they are harmless tho. The ground is like the wetlands also. Lots of greenery. Beautiful
Nice place within capital zoo
Very good big fish, frogs, and spiders, sting rays
Nice arowanas
Pretty cool exhibit with tropical animals, fish and insects.
Very good but need a whole day to get the benefit and suggest you take a packed lunch to avoid expensive alternative.
Fun for children. Lots of exotic animals. Recomend visiting in the morning. They seem to be more active.
Great free zoo with friendly zookeepers
Awesome exhibit!!!! Clean and most all animals available!
Omg... great exhibit of massive arapima, piranha and other amazonian fish ..along poison frogs and free birds.
One of the best exhibits at the National Zoo or really any zoo for that matter. They have a huge selection of fish and reptiles, a personal favorite, and the selection they have are amazingly unique. When I visited the flatbill bird was close enough to touch! Do not fret, we refrained from touching. I am a huge fan of freshwater sting rays so be sure to check them out too.
Grandson enjoyed this very much.
Its same as lake tabias just less and diffrent animals
Great collection of amazing animals. Huge fish, birds and sloth.
Great place
The children were excited to see such large fish and stingrays. Great display and nice variety of creatures for kids to see.
Great place! We had a blast!
Probably the best part of the zoo. Enjoyed it very much. The trail is such that you feel you are in one of the rainforests. Must see.
Great little zoo with good displays. Volunteers are very knowledgeable.
Spectacular fish. Warm place to visit at the zoo.
Great displays & information...best part of trip!
Great place to go on a cold day. The animals inside roam free, which is pretty cool.
Good mix of animals and fish
Love it! Best building at the National Zoo, my only wish is that it were bigger. Take your time walking through it and look for the monkeys, sloth, and other animals roaming loose.
Interesting prehistoric fish to watch
I wished there was an exhibit where you could watch the animals eat. Very big fish that the children loved!
Small but delightful.
Very memorable. The arapaima are awe inspiring to see with your own eyes.
Small but beautiful.
This was a great experience
