John Marshall Park is a park located in the Judiciary Square neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The park is in honor of John Marshall, a U.S. Representative (1799-1800), Secretary of State (1800-1801), and the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (1801–1835).A cast of the sculpture Chief Justice John Marshall, sculpted by William Wetmore Story in 1883, is situated on the north end of the park. Playing chess was a favorite pastime of Marshall. The sculpture The Chess Players is located on the east side of the park.
John Marshall Park is a spacious public park in Judiciary Square just off Pennsylvania Avenue next to the Canadian Embassy and the courthouse. Its named after the longest-serving chief justice, John Marshall, and theres a statue at the top of the park in honor of him. Nearby is another statue of two men playing chess, John Marshalls favorite game. There are plenty of benches making it a quiet place to enjoy lunch or a rest from site seeing.
I organized the September 20th School Strike for Climate March here. This was one of the largest climate marches in Washington DC history and it was all organized by youth.
The John Marshall Memorial Park is a small stretch of green space on Penn Ave. between 4th and 5th street. It is a quiet place near NGA and Newseum to grab a seat if you need a rest from sightseeing.A neat attraction you can see here is the seated and robed statue of Chief Justice John Marshall. This is a recast of the original which is located at the Supreme Court. There are also two bronze figures seated and playing chess, an apparent favourite hobby for Marshall.
The one saving grace is the salon. The new salon is nice and the staff is great with the girls. The old salon was stuffed into the basement and felt less a focal point. However, in the scheme of things, I dont think it was a good enough trade off.We visited to buy a present for our granddaughters... what an amazing shop and what dreams are made of for doll lovers!! The choice of dolls and accessories is plentiful, pricey with the aud exchange rate but irresistible special gifts!! Staff were available for advice and assistance! The store is a marvel in instead and even has a cafe!
Skilled workmanship can be seen in the roof job
A good place to take a rest and do some sightseeing surrounded by museums and the Canadian embassy
Nice place to rest after walking the national mall. Warning *** the homeless like to sleep on the benches here. There are also a lot of skateboarders in this park. It is appropriately shaded here.
Average little park. Can be permitted for events. Walking distance to parking garages.
A fairly size green space with not much purpose opposite the Canadian embassy. Fine to sit and relax in next to the statue, however doesnt serve much else.
Nice park with benches. Enjoy your lunch
Small and quiet park offering amazing views of downtown DC.
Sweet spot in the city.
This is a pretty cool place to be. I like that John Marshall is celebrated as being an upholder of justice.
John Marshall Park is dedicated to one of the most prolific public servants in U.S. History. The Park features a Statue of Chief Justice Marshall, seating, sculptures, and small fountains. The park could use some upkeep and freshening up, but it is a welcome place for a short visit, or to linger and eat your lunch.
This is a very nice, tranquil park. Probably best not to stay after dark, though.
Clean place 2 visit
When we talk about lunch break .... oh boy this is the spot
Nice place to take a outdoor break while between U.S. Capitol and White House in Pennsylvania Avenue
That man is probably peeing in/near that fountain. A nice place for lunch, but dont linger after dark.
Clean park to stay for lunch or for fresh air.Always has few homeless people around but they do not disturb anyone.
