Love Coming here to have Pho ( Vietnamese soup) lately I have lucked out on parking. I would have given a 5 stars but as slow as this area is cause of covid the streets should have been a lot cleaner. I did see a few street sweeper as they walked by some trash that was in front of they they were to busy talking to each other and not cleaning.

It has cleaner streets compared to a few other Chinatown I have been. Not very big but nice to walk around. Saw the Mary Surratt’s boarding house where the assessing of Lincoln was plotted. it is a now Chinese Lion Association. Some interesting history around this area and the surrounding historical districts like Mt Vernon on M street and 9th. House #909 .

Just the best eat-out district in DC. Google or Google Map the HUGE range of eateries that line multiple streets in a several-block area. From underground bars to roof top restaurants. From Chinese take-out to classy fine dining options. Chinatown has it all.Interestingly, barring the Chinese gate in the middle. Very little else has anything to do with China! Not many Chinese either! :DParking will be a huge challenge. So either take an Uber or take the amazing DC metro. Theres a major station quite in the middle of Chinatown. Easy breezy!Go party!

First time here. Loved the whole place! All the stores have both English and chinese names! Reminds me of other chinatowns (a little bit like San Franciscos) decent sized, not too big or small. Only thing I did not like was the fact that there are no asian or chinese supermarkets around!!! Just mainly shops and restaurants. I will definitely be back the next time I am in the area and do recommend others to visit.

The Chinatown in Washington DC is unlike any Chinatown I visited. The streets are wide and clean, with metered parking on both sides of the streets. There are plenty of restaurants, but no grocery stores. Its a tourist destination; I saw a lot of tourist buses, but not any delivery trucks.

Chinatown in DC is ok, but its changed a lot. Nothing like it was 20 years ago. There are not even that many authentic Chinese restaurants left. Been to better Chinatowns recently in Montreal and Calgary. This is the closest one to me, that I can drive, so its disappointing now.

A visit at Chinatown in Washington D.C. is always worth your time; it is quite unique and that it is not entirely what you would expect it to be relative to the many other chinese enclaves in big northern cities like New York or Philadelphia. The vibrant community is bustling with urban sound and alive with people. We found this wonderful chinese herbs and gourmet grocery on H Street N.W. on the 2nd Floor called De Zhi Co., we bought several natural herbs that supposedly alleviates the symptoms of high blood pressure. Always looking for other alternative medicine that minimize the consumption of manufactured pills.

This is a must if you are touring here in DC. There are plenty of locations and plenty of places to stop and enjoy food. Sadly a lot of these places serve American cuisine that you can find almost anywhere near here. But it does have a Regal theatre which has 4DX. And this is the closest one for miles. So I suggest making a stop there if you would love to see a movie. It may be a little high but I promise its worth it. The staff is friendly too!

I recently had lunch with a former coworker at CHINA EXPRESS, one of the smaller, plain-looking restaurants in downtown DC. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. The food is excellent and the price is right. The service is tip top, too. So, if you are in a hurry, but still want excellence in food, choices and service, and you don’t care about the atmosphere, stop here.

The Chinatown in Washington, DC is fading away as a place for the cultural Chinese experience, I am sorry to say. For the past twenty plus years, I came here a few times a year, mostly for authentic Chinese food. It used to have plenty of awesome options. I had very hard time earlier this month to find one to meet my expectations, and the one I settled in (without mentioning name here) was very disappointing. The Chinatown Friendship Gate seems the most Chinese here these days. The Chinatown area becomes trendy but hollowed. To be fair, many Chinatowns in major US cities, including NYC, are suffering the same fade. It is sad for a supposedly diversified city and country.

Chinatown is a busy area in DC with a lot of eateries, a few shops, and the Capital One Center. It is unique because you will find all sorts of people: business professionals, tourists, homeless people, locals, teenagers, etc. To be fully transparent, this is a historic Chinatown location, but it is no longer a true representation of Chinatown. This is really just a commercialized location that is washed over with a Chinatown theme. Please dont expect and authentic Chinatown experience when you visit.

Here in DC, Chinatown is considered a fake Chinatown, the reason being is because theres only few Chinese establishments here, the rest is just American establishments with Chinese letterings just to make it look Chinese. The good thing about it since not a lot of Chinese establishments, its clean. However DC Chinatown area it self is always busy, a lot of street performers and close to Capital One Arena, so it doesnt feel boring at all.
