Stirring. Better described is haunting. You dont have to have been in the military to understand the symbolism of men in combat on patrol, none expecting what will inevitably come. And in the setting the men were placed it is so realistic and thought provoking when the polished granite walls of faces and reflection is seen.

An ode to the lost, maimed, wounded and killed in the war. The bright young Americans who sacrificed for their country. Sad yet proud!

Very touching, unspeakable sacrifice for the Freedom of the people whom they had never met, and great victory to the human beings proving living God.

When we visited this memorial there was a gentleman talking to his kids about a family member that was in the war. He was describing a scene involving the statues that are at the memorial and in my mind the whole setup came to life. Had there been sound affects it would have been seemed like we were there. Beautiful memorial.

Very cool to see, should definitely be included on your trip. From a distance it might look like the wall is dirty but upon closer further inspection you can actually see the pictures on the wall which were etched into the wall using real photos taken during the war that are kept at the National Archives. There are 19 statues that stand over 7 ft tall and theyre reflections make 38, which was the normal size of a squad that would travel through the jungle together during the war. It is very sombering and enlightening when you see the reflection of the status and the emotion on their face.

For a forgotten wars memorial, the Korean War Memorial is one of the most personal memorials in DC. Taken in at night especially, the men depicted here feel like ghosts, spectres of the past left behind to patrol some to-us-unknown land for the rest of time, forever living out an honorable service that few on this side of the world are aware of, or even know how to appreciate. They fought and died to save a nation and people that would eventually be torn apart by dictation and isolation.

A unique memorial to what is known as theforgotten war. The life size statues of soldiers at war are compelling and the reflective wall is thought provoking. A genuinely interesting memorial.

This memorial is hauntingly beautiful. Its one of the more underrated memorials in DC. It fights for attention between the World War II Monument and the Lincoln Monument. The faces of the soldiers and the incorporation of the foliage into the overall piece makes it feel very dynamic.

As with many of the Washington memorials, and especially the war memorials, the best time of day to visit is usually in the late evening, away from the roar of the crowds. The dim lighting may not be the best for photographs, but for those who wish to contemplate the monumental history over the years of existence of the United States, the difficult decisions and sacrifices, these last evening forays are ideal to allow the imagination to help fill in the gaps, creating continuity from a myriad of facts, and helping to humanize the story that most of us never experienced first hand.

I think that this is one of the most well thought out memorials in the entire world. You feel like being part of that squad out on patrol and kinda expect them to scatter any moment at the smallest sign of enemy threat.

Amazing memorial of one of Americas forgotten wars. At night it is a reminder of what was like in the frozen Korean winter. Hopefully this memorial gains more notoriety.

We made the mistake of visiting Washington during summer. Any other season and it would have been a lovely walk down the National Mall.
