Fun place to explore. Five interconnected brownstones with lots of secret passages and a cool eclectic interior with a lot of for sale items. Extremely fun to visit with kids and search for secret doors. They also had a free musical concert the day we visited and have lots of events there on a daily basis. A bit touristy but still fun.
Great hotel if thats what you are there for but definitely the most fun museum experience Ive had in my life.
I love this place. My kids and I found 13 secret doors today. You get so caught up trying to find the secret door that you miss all of the fantastic collectibles and oddities. Ive been 3 times now and will continue to go back.
A mix between a museum, antique shop, and hotel. I took my family for the Thanksgiving holiday and spent a few nights in a suite. A lot of fun, hidden treasures (over 80 hidden doors!), and the Thanksgiving meal was 10/10 great! I imagine it would be lots of fun for a brief trip, too, maybe spend a few hours exploring. And everything there is for sale, things ranging from signed guitars, original movie manuscripts, to old first edition books. Super fun. Would recommend!
I had a wonderful trip to the Mansion on O Street yesterday. Our trip started with our tour booking on the wrong day. The staff here were extremely accommodating and helpful and immediately helped right the issue. I was amazed with their ability to help solve this issue. We proceeded to spend the next 4 hours searching for hidden doors and look through all of the memorabilia and other collections. This stop was so much fun and easily the highlight of our vacation in DC. The staff remained super friendly and amiable through our visit. It was also a nice place to visit where the crowds are not swarming. This is truly a must-see stop in Washington. I cannot recommend it enough.
Robert was awesome! Fantastic ambassador for the space. Museum experience was a first for me and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Offbeat, odd, weird, captivating, and fun!
This museum was the highlight of our trip to DC! The things to see around every corner, amazing. What fun to get lost in the museum and try to find your way back. We had 3 hours but I could have spent the entire day there and plan to as soon as I go back. The staff were AMAZING and the treasure hunt was fantastic. This place really made my day!!

If anybody is trying to find good deals for hotels visit HotelBuIIy. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere! What an amazing time! The food was too good to be true at Thanksgiving. All I can say is I am planning on going back. My inner child loved the tour and finding doors. I so recommend this for a grate date night or family fun night.
So much interesting American pop art and more here. Held a holiday gathering here and the food was great. Good portion sizes and they had wait staff that made it upscale. The owners shared stories on how the Mansion came to be and we were impressed with how a special a place this really is.
The Mansion on O Street is an iconoclastic DC landmark. Home to historical figures as diverse as J Edgar Hoover and Rosa Parks, this is a very special place. I have attended many wonderful events here and hope to attend many more soon!
We had a great time visiting this place last weekend. Its a different kind of experience for DC. We did the rock and roll scavenger hunt. They had a bar so we had fun wandering around while enjoying a few beers. We also stayed in one of their houses, the Rosa Parks House. It was a beautiful home with 6 bedrooms.
Quurky, unique and very interesting place. The food was absolutely delicious. Depending on the room you are in, get very good directions, its a maze of a place, with each room and hallway with a theme and tons of memorabilia or knick knacks in every inch. But some amazing history, and a little kitsch!!

Super nice staff and a wonderful place with a cool history.
I cannot begin to describe how great our visit to the 0 Street museum was. After searching for a fun and interactive activity for my group of friends, I came across this fun adventure. The booking process was extremely easy and the staff was beyond amazing. We spent a total of 4 hours touring the home, finding hidden doors, and experiencing the rich history this museum offers.I plan to book a room in the future (as a staycasion) to continue to explore and immerse myself into the true art that this place is.Highly recommend!
Just a walk through time while looking for secret doors
Excellent experience!! Great guide Johnny!!We had a Wonderful time!!
This is a hidden DC gem. This last visit (of many) was my first with kids. They thought they would be bored, but their first step into the mansion changed that immediately. They were amazed that they could touch things and that they would be searching for hidden doors throughout the mansion. They ran around like little slueths and they were excited every tine they fou d a new door. I have discovered something, new rooms, new hidden doors, every time I have come and I highly recommend this spot. I have not yet had a chance to do an event or a brunch here yet but I hope to in the future.
I have to admit that I knew nothing about the Mansion prior to my wifes work party. Very neat museum/gallery/antique store rolled into one. Catered event had some excellent food and the bartender was not soft handed with the pours. The owner/guide was excellent and I look forward to going back to see some things I missed. This place is enormous and you will NOT be able to see everything in one trip.
A DC must-see for locals and visitors. So much fun to treasure hunt and find secret doors. Staff was warm and welcoming.
CRS night out!! Networking with fellow Realtors!!Food was good, desserts were outstanding!!
The Museum is AMAZING! So filled with history and culture! The friendly staff completes your journey through time with informative back stories. What a wonderful way to spend the day! One of DCs Best Kept Secrets!
Great place to visit
Absolutely stunning! The hidden gems your was amazing! I work in Dupont and had never heard of this place, it is a DC treasure!
Second time here; first time with kids. We had so much fun looking for all the secret doors and trying to find all the rooms. The owners are warm and kind, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere fun. You can stay while visiting the city, tour just for fun, host an event, or have a meeting. So eclectic - let the artist in yourself out!!
Fun, filled with amazing stories, rooms and Kickbacks. All for sale. You can stay too.
We loved this! We found 12 doors and cant wait for our next trip to hopefully find more. We were told they are always adding doors so keep that mind in. This wont be the same attraction twice! Well worth the money and super cool items that you can purchase.
Enjoyed the accommodation and venue while attending a wedding at The Mansion. Very unique, fun, and rare place to find in the DMV area.
Strange museum filled with secret doors that was a pretty fun time. We tried exploring the whole place and got through it in an hour and a half or so. Felt more like an oversized gift shop since everything in that building is for sale and oh boy is stuff expensive. Feels like an eclectic millionaires home. Almost all the rooms are available to be stayed in as it is a functioning hotel as well. Definitely very weird and worth a visit.
It was interesting and rather fun, but I remain appalled that they charged a 1 year old child a $30.00 admission fee. That being said, we could have chosen not to pay it and leave but we didnt. On the other side of that coin, we drove quite a way to get there. We did not come anywhere near finding all the secret doors, but we had a good time looking.
Super quirky and fun to look around. Enjoyed the experience overall. My only complaint was that they advertise everything in the house is for sale and it is… It is priced and everything. I purchased four wine glasses and they didnt have so much as newspaper to wrap them in or a bag to put them in. I cant even imagine what would have happened if I purchased the china service for 12 that I saw. I dont understand how they could be so ill prepared for a sale.
Beautiful place. Beautiful things. Beautiful history. Beautiful people.
Interesting, fun, and challenging for even the most observant. In about two hours, I located 12 doors out of 85! Good luck explorer
Great way to spend an afternoon or a few hours. It is much more than whatever you are expecting! While there are a lot of stairs, there are also a lot of chairs and public toilets almost every level (opposed to the display or hotel bathrooms). Theres even an elevator! A lot of the doorways are tight. Amazing discoveries and some you can take home with you! Starting the adventure with the house bar is also a great step!
In the heart of Dupont this amazing, kitschy, space is a pop cultural maze of rooms filling with all manner of items all for sale too.
This place was super cool but it wasnt really my thing. Extremely cluttered and proud of it, plus since its a working hotel youll never have the same experience twice. Still, its got a lot of neat stuff.
Wow just wow :) you can easily spend a whole afternoon here! Such an amazing and beautiful mansion with many rooms.
We had an amazing time with the kids searching for secret doors. We found 10. Such a unique place. Highly recommend.
So unique and quirky, if youre looking for something fun to do in DC with a history lesson while holding a cocktail at 1pm, this is your place!
Wow. Just wow. What an amazing maze of rooms! A very fun time in a warm place on a cold day!
First of all it was 20$ admission fee. Why did I put 1 star and is it fake comment? Nope. I was really there. When we inside we paid the fee and there was a guy he explained about the mansion. That many room that much big bla bla. And they said there are a lot of secret door keep searching. We went to 4th floor and we were walking around. Still I am thinking what was the purpose of the mansion. I think it wasnt clear enough about what should we do. How many doors could be secret? I am not kid. You cant say just keep searching. They are telling it might be 1 secret door or more. More means 25 may be? Anyway. We walked all of the mansion. I didnt really feel anything special. The staff was nice by the way. When we were leaving, we saw a couple coming out and we asked them how was it? They said unbelievable. I said only s... What did they see what did we miss. I felt like wow did they really tell unbelievable, did we come out from same thing? I think its not worth paying 20$ for each person. Actually this mansion could be nice for kids but % not for me.
This was the most interesting place ever.. nooks and crannies with all kinds of stuff... I particularly liked all the unique hats and books. I was there for a wedding and the staff was exceptional.. My room was the Safari room and it was impressive! If you can afford the nightly rate.. it definitely an experience of a lifetime!
Cool museum/hotel. The place is full or secret passages and rooms. Well worth a visit!
Beautiful place that is filled with amazing items signed by major figures in various industries.
An artistic immersion beyond anything youve ever experienced. Just wow!
Nice venue with a lot of history! Many famous people have lived there!
I visited for the secret doors tour and had a really wonderful afternoon! The mansion is a fascinating, sprawling space full of all sorts of knickknacks. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but it mostly has a kind of wonderland vibe where you can enjoy exploring and being surprised and getting a little bit lost. For a particularly festive experience, buy a glass of champagne from the friendly bartender to carry through the museum (or book a tour with champagne included). I recommend arriving earlier in the day - at least on the day I went it got quite crowded later in the afternoon, which made it harder to discover things all on our own.
Very nice museum. You could almost miss it if you dont know its there
One of DCs hidden treasures indeed! Will definitely be returning.
Very cool place to visit. Lots to see and plenty to find! You can lose yourself among all the chachkas! Plan to spend time here!!!
Very unique!
Ive lived in the DC area for 25 years and didnt know about the O Street Mansion/Museum. We found it through Groupon and Im so glad we did! It is an amazing, fun place to visit and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I cant wait to go back to try one of the other events and take friends and family so they can experience it as well.
Outstanding. Great fun and absolutely worth your time. Ted has great stories. Even better if you have roots in Cleveland.
Such a cool spot! Definitely check it out and explore.
This place is such a hidden gem. We did the secret door tour and really enjoyed ourselves. We spent several hours exploring and found a total of 19 hidden doors and hidden areas. What a fantastic and strange place! Its definitely a fun place to explore and get lost in.
If you ever get the chance to tour the Mansion, do it. All the rooms and secret doors are so unique.
Quirky crazy place! Spent over an hour here looking for secret doors and enjoying the antiques in every unique room. Perfect for a rainy DC day. You book a tour but then wander at your own pace. And almost everything in the rooms is for sale! Furniture, comics, dishware... If youre adventurous, you can stay overnight in one of the rooms. Really a fun must see for any age.
Loved this place! Been all over Washington and this place is easily in the top 5. Fun looking for hidden passageways (found 9)and looking at all the things available to purchase. Hubby bought a book about Lincoln. Super unique rooms and bathrooms that Id love to stay in. Beware there are lots of stairs within the passageways.
Awesome. An adventure you will never forget.
Amazing experience with incredible staff! Will go back with more friends!
Got out tickets on Groupon and it was a blast, self toured the place with beer and champagne in hand. Staff was awesome very friendly and helpful. You can buy anything you see really, so if youre in to that bring some cash. Dont leave until you find the secret wine cellar room, pretty awesome experience.
We had our office holiday party at the mansion. Our group had a mixture of approx 125 adults and children. The venue is perfect! Folks felt like they were at their grandmothers house for the holiday!
A very neat place! We purchased drink tickets in advance and werent able to use them because no one was at the bar, but otherwise it was a fun experience.
What a fun experience. My boyfriend and I had a nice afternoon exploring the house for secret doors. There is so much to take in, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and lighthearted.
This hidden gem is amazing! Thank you H for your hospitality.
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe this place. I got married at the Mansion in May and it was exceptional. This is a very eclectic hotel, event space, museum, fun shopping boutique, activity space. You can go for tours, treasure hunts, teas, musical performances, meet and greets with authors, and many many other things. Also, everything in the Mansion is for sale. It’s hard to understand everything the Mansion is until you see it for yourself. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely go check out the Mansion on O St. And I’d recommend you valet park at the Mansion. Parking around there is difficult and the valet is worth it for convenience’s sake.
Nothing like it that I have ever seen!
An amazing quirky spot for the jaded tourist - hunting for secret spaces and discovering the weird curios along the way is an excellent way to spend a few hours.
What a fantastic surprise this place was. The staff were very friendly in helping me to understand the adventure I was about to embark on. Highly recommend!
Make sure to reserve before you go to save money. We found 10 hidden doors. Had alot of fun. Wish there were more available for searching but alot of guest were in rooms.
I have lived in this area for over 5 years now and had no idea this place even existed. My wife and I paid for the self guided tour not really knowing what to expect but it absolutely blew us away. All of the rooms are just filled with unique items and each area is designed differently. We found 7 secret doors which was cool. So exciting when we found each one. I felt like a little kid. We both would love to come back sometime. Maybe even stay as an overnight guest. If you like different youll love this place. Its a refreshing change from the typical DC museum.
We went there to watch the magic show by master magician Richard Bloch. Not sure what to expect about the place and the show. Both were much better than what we anticipated. The place is a quaint little mansion which serves as a hotel and show place and corporate retreat and gift shop and treasure hunt and museum all combined. The person behind this extraordinary creation H (H.H. Leonards) still does the introduction and after 40 years still retains the breathless enthusiasm for it that she probably did when she bought it in 1980.The magic show had only 20 audiences and we were anticipating an amateur show. But Bloch was not kidding when he advertised himself as a “master magician”. He has a dry, self-deprecating sense of humor, some really great tricks (which mostly involved audiences) and made himself really approachable. We had a wonderful time roaming the mansion, discovering secret doors, talking to other people and checking out the interesting mixture of dated and contemporary accruements in the mansion.Highly recommended
Fun time for all ages. a good break from the traditional museum landscape of the city. went before and found more doors the first time-- know if places are closed for an event or guests that there may be less for you to see. try not to be disappointed, but enjoy for what it is. bar and service were excellent.
A unique location for a private event. A friend of mine had a small wedding here and it was beautiful and special. The service was great and helpful with everything needed. here is an in downstairs with a few rooms youll want to reserve far ahead of time. Parking isnt good, use a parking garage nearby.
First visit with family for a holiday themed secret doors tour. Great for kids and adults alike. Everything is for sale but it’s also like a hoarder that thinks that the used tissue Bono wiped his face with on tour is really worth $500. A ton of expensive kitsch but also really fun to find all the hidden doors.
It was just amazing. We stayed two hours but could have stayed two more. It was so rich and creative. We found 7 of 70 secret doors and felt pretty good about ourselves! And the idea of sharing the space with rooms for short and long term guests and artists is so open and trusting. We will definitely be coming back and sending our friends too. Thanks for being there!
A really fun place. I want to go back
To be clear: I love this place. It’s such a unique and fun experience. When I brought an out of town guest to visit the space, however, I was quite disappointed with our greeting. We were nearly turned away at the door after having commuted over 40 minutes in the rain. We had looked at the website beforehand...nothing indicated that walk ins were not permitted. The couple behind us had even called ahead, and was told walk ins were welcome before 3:30 (we arrived at 3:18). Our greeter let us in after a couple of minutes, only to tell us we were to leave by 4:45. He then proceeded to seat us and leave the room, thus eating up our already limited time. Not impressed with our greeter at all.Afterwards, the visit was lovely. Lexi, our secondary greeter, was succinct and informative about the museum and hotel’s history and rules.I still love this place and recommend it to visitors, but be sure to book a tour beforehand.Mansion: handling walk ins should not be this problematic.
Crazy entertaining sooo much to see a lot of history great people
A true hidden gem in downtown DC! A very special anniversary for us.
From the moment I entered the O, I fell in love. Every step you take inside is a step further away from all the stress and negativity in the world. Not only will your imagination run wild, but you will be inclined to and even enjoy, learning about everything inside and everything that went into making The Mansion on O Street the most fantastic place on earth.H, Ted, and the entire staff at O make sure that you know that you are someone special, and within moments, I had no trouble recognizing that they are the most spectacular people (hosts, historians, hospitality pros, artists, culinary masters, and music buffs) I have ever met. For arts, music, culinary experiences, history, shopping, and the best time of your life, visit The Mansion on O Street.I have had the privilege of organizing and participating in a corporate retreat, attending Sunday brunches, concerts, and tours, and with every visit, I leave understanding that it was indeed an honor to experience the O.Not only are H and Ted the most amazing and influential people in my life, but their guests are some of the most interesting people too. Spend some time getting to know the place, the people, and the abundant history, that surrounds you, and you will fall in love. My life is more enriched, my mind broadened, and my heart is so much fuller because of the people and my experiences at The Mansion on O Street. Love you guys!!!
Awesome museum! Its very fun looking for secret doors and there are lots of memorabilia to look at.
We went for a tour, got an introduction from the owner. He was the husband, wife built it. It’s very charming and quirky! It’s a great way to spend some time inside a house but what makes it fun is the door search! We found some of the secret rooms and it was cool to explore it by floor
Amazing place, try as we might we could not found all the secrets. The magic show was also a nice surprise
Went there for a tour. It was a really interesting place, and it was a lot of fun exploring different rooms and trying to find the items listed in the tour. The host was super kind and nice, will definitely visit again.
The place is a great place to let loose some energy and learn about forgotten history. The place is a puzzle and a museum in one with secret entrances and doorways. It’s a great place to organize a birthday party and celebration with friends. I wouldn’t recommend taking small children there thougg
Enjoyed exploring the museum and my kids love hunting for secret doors. Great place to spend a rainy day.
Junk sale explosion. Not fun to navigate the rooms seeking hidden doorways with you break it you buy it policy. Staff laughs at the fact most of the hidden doors are as tiny as a fairy and hidden behind mounds of junk. I found it akin to an escape room without a story line thats too high-priced. If you go, make sure to drink or get high beforehand. Owner is laughing his way to the bank for sure. I wouldnt want my cool house filled with dime store paraphernalia.
Had the best time with my friend. I cant wait to take my niece and daughter next month.
Every bit as cool as youd expect! TONS of old time-y memorabilia packed in every room. Lots of secret doors to find. Only reason I knocked off a star was because I thought they allow too many people in at once. Ruins the fun if you walk into a room and see someone else just found a secret door. Thats like being in a Halloween haunted house and all the monsters jumping out at the group right in front of you. Kills it for you. Still, enjoyed myself and would absolutely recommend to all! Yes, you need to climb stairs and be able to walk. So heads up there. :)
