David is a righteous dude and the flicks are excellent. I love bringing people here because it’s always a great time. The decor is mighty fine.David been coming up with his own cocktails that rival those of actual bars. The booze selection is small but excellent - local products and Amaros amongst no more than 20 bottles (I think my home bar is larger.)

Suns Cinema is one of my favorite finds in DC, an awesome atmosphere and great crowds. The movie line up is always entertaining and the staff are stellar. Beer rotation is solid, and theres always at least one cider in rotation. Popcorn is on point and cookies are a good choice. Id say the style tells you if youll like it, very laid back but always fun.

Best indie theater ever. They host amazing events and screenings and the bartenders are a delight. Always love coming here!

Dorky little theater at the heart of Mount Pleasant. I spent years thinking about visiting this place, and now that I did, I know I am definitely coming back for some classic movies.

Cool place! A 20-seat theater made of thrift store antique chairs in what appears to be the front room of a converted row house. Bar in the back (cheap drinks and popcorn). Older fun/artsy movies shown with 10-min intermission. Young crowd.

This was my second visit to Suns Cinema for Fale University. It is such a wonderfully laid back atmosphere. We arrived early and hung out in the downstairs bar, where we got drinks and talked to patrons about the movie they had just seen there- What We Do In The Shadows. We were allowed to bring our drinks upstairs and choose from a variety of comfortable chairs to sit in. This time they started with an opening act-traditional stand up comedian who was funny. There were a couple of familiar faces among the university staff; all enjoyable. This lecture-comedy show was about Revolutions. This included the American Revolution, French Revolution, Russian, Cuban, etc as well as Industrial Revolution. Love the slides and gifs and such inane delivery of somewhat relevant facts. Cant wait to come back!

Super chill and super cool, get here early cause the good seats go quick

Im always hesitant to tell people about Suns because Im worried itll get too popular and then I wont be able to get tickets for films here. Credit where credit is due, though: David runs a great theater and what is personally one of my favorite places in DC. Almost always something interesting playing, and a good beer selection at the bar in the back.

This place is super adorable. They play amazing movies. Comfy chairs in the back but the uncomfortable ones in the front have the best view.

The suns cinema, a perfect spot for movie lovers who like to turn it up a notch after a good movie. The place is Marvelous and has the best open bar. Personally id give it a 5.0 rating. An amazing spot especially for Friday nights.

This theater has so very little space for all of its character. Different models of chairs make up the seating, affordable drinks, old school popcorn machine, red velvet roped in porch and eclectic movie varieties.

Suns is just a wonderful hole in the wall almost speakeasy neighborhood theater. Well curated offbeat themed movie months,terrific sound & excellent beverage selection.Almost hate to let the secret out about this place-its seating capacity is only about 48!
