Love this theater! Came here to see Knives Out for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and was really impressed by how nice this place was. Even sitting in the front row I felt like I was still able to see the entire screen. They have a great snack/drink selection, and youre able to bring your beer / cocktail into the theater with you much like the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. They dont however take your order during the film, you must purchase it outside at the bar beforehand. I also really enjoyed their popcorn, it ended up tasting much better than I expected.Looking forward to seeing more films here in the future, its now my go to theater.
Ive always loved Landmark E Street bc of its location and choice of movies, but Landmark Atlantic Plumbing lets you choose specific seats! The theater I was in had 48 seats. They are comfy but do not recline. It wasnt the cleanest theater. My seat had remnants of spilled drink as well as trash in the cupholders but it wasnt too bad. The bathroom was extremely dimly lit, which was weird but fine. Staff was super nice.
It was just an awesome evening. With the food and drinks; then viewing a wonderful fact filled movie. We had wings, pulled pork and beers. Everything was really good. And the ability to take it inside to partake of as you view the movie was an added benefit. I will definitely be back to enjoy that theater again.
Great place to take in a movie and you can have alcoholic beverages and food and a nice snack bar. however the prices are a little steep, but the products are 1st class. Nice friendly and helpful staff. Scotty says... Matinees are half priced... Thats when I went!!! Visit it and enjoy it. Hope my review is helpful. L8R.
Met up with a friend here to see a movie. I was impressed with the bar and the fact that you can bring a beer into the theater with you! The theater itself was comfortable with nice and large seats. Tickets were affordable (for the area).
Small intimate theatres with seating selection. Walking distance to great restaurants and bars. Student discounts offered
A great movie theater. Theaters are small, but comfortable. The halls can be a little dark, but it has a great, kind of modern feel to it.
One of my favorite places to see a movie in the city - beautiful spot at the bottom of atlantic plumbing, with amazing restaurants all around. Great spot as well to grab a drink before going to see a movie - they always have whats popular now, as well as some more indie films to watch.
Clean and comfortable theater with a decent selection of the now playings and a good selection of concessions and drinks. The fairly small screen size is the only thing keeping this theater from being perfect.
Nice theater—-small and cozy. Staff was somewhat friendly. Mostly a mature, open-minded group of movie-goers with the exception of a select few.
This movie theater is one of the bests and all of the restaurant options around it are amazing. Its great for a dinner and movie type of night. Also has a cute little bar with snacks if you need something quick before the meeting. And if you want to, drinks to take into the movie with you!
My favorite movie theater in town! Reserved, comfortable seats, new theaters, great concessions and beer choices. See a movie!
Really great movie theater. Auditoriums are the perfect size. Some offer reclining chairs. Good selection of beers and cocktails you can grab beforehand and take into the movie. Very reasonably priced as well. My go to theater in the city
Your regular movie theatre with a full bar. You can reserve your seat, you can get your popcorn, you can... open up a bottle of wine?! Perfection.
Isaiah is AMAZING at the bar. Excellent conversationalist and mixologist. Also Saab is dope too
As far as theaters go, i loved it. The place was clean and the audience was kid free. Everyone was very respectable during the movie and i had a good experience with that. What they should work on is when you order food and they call it out. They never called out my order and there is no way to know if someone is handed the same order as you but ordered 10 mins after you. They should give receipts with numbers that they call out so there is no conflict.
The Atlantic Plumbing Cinema is a movie theater with six auditoriums and a full bar with food offerings. It is located right off of U Street in the Shaw/Howard University neighborhood. If you plan to arrive by car, they have their own parking garage located at 2112 8th Street NW, that offers reduced daily parking rates. If you plan to arrive by public transit, you will want to take the green or yellow metro rail lines to U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo metro station and take the 10th and U Street exit. The first thing I noticed was the bar with the vintage lighting or the automated ticketing kiosks. The automated ticketing kiosks serve as a place where you can purchase or retrieve your purchased movie tickets. I felt that the movie tickets were reasonably priced and relative to others in the area. From the bar, you may order beer, liquors, wine, and cocktails, which can be enjoyed before, during, or after your movie. For draft beer, they have a rotating draft as well as drafts from Flying Dog, Heavy Seas, Hellbender, Port City Brewing, Devils Backbone, Oskar Blues, Stiegel, and Bold Rock. For tallboy cans, they have a rotating can and Austin Eastciders.Next to the bar, there is a snack bar that serves traditional movie refreshments (including popcorn, candies, and Coca-Cola soft drinks), finger food (including mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders), and healthier snack alternatives (including Fair Trade chocolate bars, organic bottled teas, vegan cookies). After purchasing your drinks and snacks, you will proceed to get your tickets checked and then, directed to the auditorium printed on your ticket. My family and I came to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that played in Auditorium #1. The auditorium was smaller than expected and gave off an intimate feel like a home theater would. It had 4 rows of regular seating with about 12 seats in each row and another row with additional seating to accommodate the disabled. The plush leather seats were very comfortable and spacious. I was surprised that the seats werent recliners. It was nice that the seats had cupholders. The surround sound was excellent. There were times where I felt like I was a part of the movie.
The employees are so welcoming, helpful beyond measure, and efficient that they set a tone that makes it easy to return. Theaters are kept clean, womens restrooms are tidy and well maintained, and reserved seats in the theater are comfortable. I now prefer this theater in close proximity to Howard University where I teach.
Convenient location near U St. Metro. Clean, though kind of dimly lit bathrooms. Wine, beer and variety of snacks (including Hippeas Vegan puffs). Comfy seats. Great.
Great theatre! Atmosphere in the lobby is fun and modern, including the bar. Staff are friendly and helpful and movie selection is always current. Theatre seats are comfy and sound/picture are always spot on. Just the right number of previews too (some theaters have too many). This is my theater home!
Plan to arrive 20 minutes early and enjoy a drink at the bar before your movie. The snack selection has your typical sweets, as well as some healthier non traditional movie theater snack foods, A+ there. And there are ~6 theaters equip with comfortable seats on a small theatre (~50 seats in total).
Really nice new theater with big comfy reserved seats and a bar for before or after the show and great restaurants all around.
Very fun movie venue. Great seats. Ongoing construction nearby makes parking unusually difficult.
A great theater. Its kind of hipster. It has a bar too!
Great theater and great atmosphere for those seeking a movie, a warm and inviting environment, and also for those that indulge... a pretty well handcrafted cocktail! Cozy, quaint, and the perfect ice beaker for a D.C. resident traveling green
Amazing experience from start to finish. Great barman, cumfy seats and a great atmosphere.
Great vibe. Nice intimate theatre space . Great customer service: a manager refunded me for an extra ticket I purchased. Fully stocked bar (I didnt get anything but I definitely will next time).
This is a super nice theater. One of my favorites in the area. It has a nice bar with a good variety of drinks to choose from. The theater rooms are nice and spacious. No matter where you sit, it’s not as bad as the bigger theaters. I highly recommend visiting.
This movie theater is the best movie theater I have ever met you in Washington DCand its extraordinary because how to design the theater is a straightener that have fantastic food drinks two bathrooms are awesome and always smells good they always have have you feel like its your last day on Earth.
Horrible experience.Since you have to do everything yourself, I used the machine to purchase the ticket. It never gave me the ticket, just the receipt, so the people working there sent me to one of their colleagues to get it. Then, I will admit that in the hurry I did not properly check the ticket but I didnt think I had to since the worker gave it to me, I realized the guy gave me the wrong ticket for a different movie. At this point the movie I wanted to see had already long started, so I asked for a refund. First they said there was nothing they could do, stating that my credit card wasnt the one I used to buy the ticket, and I had to explain the problem I had with the machine and that they sent me to their colleague to solve it. Then they stated that MAYBE the manager could help, but nothing was sure at that point. In the end I decided to still watch the movie I wanted to, but at that point I had already lost 30 minutes of it. I am sorry but this is the last time I will ever come here, and I will advise my friends to go to other places. I have waited for a long time for this movie and the experience was ruined.
Intimate and fun movie theatre! I love that I can bring in a tasty cocktail or glass of wine into the actual screening room. The seats are very comfortable and recline. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a seemingly nice restaurant/lounge attached to the theatre with a retractable wall but I didn’t have a chance to Check it out.
This is the perfect theater. Small theaters, but all seats are perfect for the screen. Intimate environment that feels more like an awesome home theater. With the added bonus of food and adult beverages, I will frequent this theater often. Highly recommend!
Awesome staff! They even take the time to open the movie theater doors for ya. Great customer service.
Went here for a movie and a beer while our daughter was at the Cavetown show next door. Nice brew and view with good bar service
Best movie theatre in the city. Comercial movies and some not so much. Not very crowded, comfortable chairs, great bar (and yes, you can bring the drinks into the theater)... What else do you need?
This place is my favorite movie theater of all time, hands down. Its intimate and always has the best movies playing. The most recent visit, I saw A Star is Born on a solo date and instead of hitting the bar (which I usually would because their bar is also awesome) and had the bargain combo at the snack bar. A reasonable small soft drink and personal popcorn-- it was the perfect proportion for one person!
The best theater in DC. The staff is super friendly and the theaters are really clean. I’ve never had any issues - plus you can purchase wine/bar drinks for the movie.
A cool small theater that you can order drinks at and bring into the theater. The screens are kind of small, but that’s to be expected at a small theater. Pretty clean (no sticky shoes).
The bar is the best part of this theater. The theaters themselves are pretty small, but on the upside there arent many bad seats and you can reserve your seat online. The concessions are pretty mediocre, but adequate.
First time at this theater and I was surprised at how well it was run. Staff was super friendly and the theater was very clean. Definitely going back and avoiding the gallery place theater!
Great place! Good drinks in the theater and a lot of restaurants/bars nearby!
Awesome little theater- set up so that even front row isnt a bad view.
Great little venue for a movie, though its small and tickets are expensive. My seat was very comfortable and had the ability to rock a bit, but the person behind me put feet on it and rocked it a few times during the movie, which was surprising since it seems theres enough space. It wasnt a big deal, but for the cost, it things should be very pleasant.
This is my favorite theater in DC. The seats are nice & comfy, the menu is decent, and the pre-selected seating is always great. The only draw back is the theaters are a little small making the seats feel close to the screen. While this detracts from the big movie feel/ experience a bit, its a fair trade-off for the convenience of the in-town location and the numerous offerings. Its definitely worth a visit!
Very nice place, food was great. The bartender was rude though. Everyone else was pleasant. I have worked in customer service all my life, if you care about your business get a new bartender.Theater seats were very comfortable and I like that you can chose your seats when buying the tickets.
I love this theater the Staff is friendly and whenever I go there is never a huge crowd. Its the perfect location next to the 9:30 club. whenever Im here I like to see what bands are playing. This theater is always clean and I love the spacious bathroom stalls.
Chill theater with comfortable seats. They sell food like wings, mozzarella sticks and pulled pork sandwiches served with fries. They have a bar you can order a wide variety of drinks as well
Cozy, small theater made watching a good movie enjoyable.
Nice theater. Comfortable chairs. Good selection of food. And the movie starts on time.
Nice intimate theatre with a full bar and fun cocktails. Nice snacks and clean bathrooms.
Great atmosphere, drinks, food and the staff offer great customer service.
The small size of the theaters here is great! The chairs are super comfy, though I wish they reclined a bit more. The only downside is that the back row is a bit bright--there are lights on the floor outlining the space for wheelchairs, but they are very distracting while trying to watch a movie. We were able to move forward a row because the theater wasnt full, but this might not always be possible.
Love this movie theater! They offer online ticketing with MoviePass and have a great location. Has nice intimate feeling to it with relatively comfortable seats. They also have a bar where they have decent cocktails and beer selection.
Very clean, modern, updated and diverse movie selections. Within walking distance in my neighborhood which is a plus, and convenient if you want to catch a movie, dinner, drinks and dance the night away with your significant other or friends while visiting the U.ST area. Best time for me to go is during the weekdays to catch a matinee, or if you simply want to miss the crowds. Weekends and nights are too fun because of the energetic and lively atmosphere near the theater. Always clean and courteous staff to assist. Bar offers good selection of spirits, beers, cocktails but can get backed up if crowded. Small bites/appetizers to snack on before and during the movie, best of all you can take your items in to the movie as well. I love that you can reserve your seats well in advance, and there are several movie/screening rooms, all with plenty of leg and arm room. If I had once issue it would be that the seats do not recline, bummer :( but its still worth it.
Its a smaller theater with smaller screens. It would not be my first choice to go if I wanted to see a highly visual film.Additionally, for those who have become accustomed to reclining seats, this theater does not offer those. The armrests DO lift up to add extra room/comfort when watching a movie with someone else. For MoviePassers, they are a Landmark theater so you can buy your ticket AND preselect your seat in the app before you get to the theater which is nice.
Great theatre, much better than Gallery Place. A bit more intimate, and shorter lines. Plus, booze!
Great local theater with drinks and good atmosphere! Sometimes end up watching a late night movie with drunk hecklers
Dope spot. Can chill pre or post show. Intimate seating. Decent prices. Lax environment.
This movie theatre is great! I saw Blade Runner 2049 there, and its got a great vibe. They make good drinks, too. If youre going to see something new and hot, get tickets early. Theyre small theatres.
Assigned seating. If you do not want to sit in front of the screen, get your ticket before you arrive. All in all it was great. Each movie room is much smaller than they used to be. Please make sure you bring A JACKET OR A BLANKET! IT IS COLD IN THERE. POPCORN AND WHAT NOT IS REASONABLY PRICED. They sell beer and wine as well. I give it 5 stars because although it was cold as #$%@, and we were sitting in the very front row, my family enjoyed ourselves. We saw Incredibles 2.
Oh man this place is delightful! I love the set up and the food choices are weird and wonderful. Pretty darn decent wine and beer choices. Bartended offered me a double pour of wine so I didnt have to get up during the movie. Which was super awesome. Wine and beer prices are a little steep but I think that is par for the course in a movie theater and I didnt mind since I came to play. Cheers!
Great theater, you can pick your own seats and take in food/drink. The bar area is a great space to wait for your movie to start! Prices are average, but worth it.
A great neighborhood theater. Chairs dont fully recline but are very comfortable. Drinks can be pricey but no different than other bars in the area for craft cocktails. Do yourself a favor and order a double so you dont have to get up during the movie.
So, I want to give 5 stars, because the bar is great, but the audio in the theater only gets 4, and thats more important than the quality beverages and excellent service at the bar. Did I mention the bar is great?
Great theaters, comfy seats, bar and very loud, busy lobby. Patio seating for bar and small eats. A must for summer time. Street is very busy, with line from 930 wrapping around bars and clubs patios and concert venue next door more like an entertainment district. Great theater all together. 13$ tickets.
Im a fan of this theater. It has a parking garage. The theaters are very small and there is assigned seating. They have a bar in the inside beside where you get movie snacks. There is also things right in the area to do before or after your movie. The staff is friendly and polite.
Love this theatre but I wish they accepted movie pass! I would go way more often if they did but instead I usually drive an extra 20 minutes to a different theatre to use MoviePassEDIT: they now accept movie pass with E-Ticketing. This is pretty much the only theatre I go to now!
Cozy local movie theater, with comfy seats!
Great addition to the neighborhood! I love how you can purchase your tickets online and select what seat you want. Seating is better than a regular theater in that the chairs are nicer and bigger, you have more leg room, and there are less seats in general. Theres also a bar, so you have the option of getting there early if you want a few drinks (though the bar may not be open if youre there for a matinee). After showing your ticket (you can print it out or just show your phone), youll be casually escorted to your theater if its not super busy. The screens arent super large, but since the theaters arent accommodating for row, upon row, upon row, they dont need to be. Staff is generally enthusiastic, which Ive also noticed at the E Street location too. When the bar area is busy and the theater area is busy, it gets a little too cheek to jowl, but a small price to pay for a theater in the neighborhood. Having said that, it does seem like the front area should be reappraised and potentially redesigned as the flow of it can cause congestion. Should be interesting when Filmfest DC rolls around.
A fantastic movie theater. From the moment you step in the atmosphere of this theater is different from others in the area. The decor is really well done and the ambiance sets it apart for showing just mainstream movies. The bar is always going to be a nice addition and the fact that it is possible to take the drinks inside to watch the movie is great. The prices are relatively cheaper then other theaters so thats a plus.
Best ever concept and convenient community based entertainment center and bar. It’s not like going to the movies. Its like having a great bar and quaint theater in your community.
Favorite movie theater ever...great drinks..parking access..perfect
This is a great movie theater. As a Howard students, its such a reliable place to go watch a movie. As all movie places, the snacks are overpriced but its not that bad, especially since theres a bar right there. Also its right by Tasty Burger anyway.
Amazing sound quality and cheap snacks. Lots of parking.
Food is slightly above average, price is pretty standard, reserved seating is appreciated. Moviepass experience here is very positive. My biggest complaint are the loud, squeaky chairs. There seem to be a few in every room, and whenever somebody in one of them moves, they squeak like crazy. That being said, I still prefer it to Gallery Place.
The employees were very friendly and welcoming. Theater was clean and seats were comfortable. Very cozy.
Such an amazing theater. Assigned sheets. Booze of ever type. Awesome food. Great leather seats. Best in DC.
Great theater! Smaller audience sizes compared to larger cineplexes, but I really enjoy that about this place. Amazing picture and sound quality. There is technically assigned seating, but this has only been an issue when seeing a big movie last minute. Normal concessions including alcohol and more upscale snack options too.
Beautiful bar/concession stand /movie theater. Beautiful inside. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend
Clean, slightly weird layout that night be difficult for a wheel chair user to navigate. Has bar and slightly better scale of concessions. Seemed like more popular movies than art house ones.
These guys have really awesome services. If you want to enjoy a good movie with friends or family then this is the place to go. These guys are just amazing. Great place for the whole family.
This theatre is very clean and offers reserved seating in very comfortable lazy boy type seats. The screen sizes were not the largest but the most seats even on the 1st or 2nd rows offered solid viewing. The best row is ideally row 3. Only major gripe is the speed of service for the bar and concession stand given how few people are there to support the crush of people entering the theatre for a show
Best movie theatre in the city! Reserve seats in advance by calling. Lots of vegan and relatively healthy snacks and food options (even tea and coffee!). Grab a beer or drink before your movie starts in the in or outdoor patio!
Great spot to check out a movie!
Favorite movie theater in the city. The staff is super helpful and they finally stopped making the staff give intros to the movie which were awkward at times. Anyways, great cocktails and drink selection make this intimate movie theater a great night out.
Hands-down my favorite theater for wide-release films. The seating is luxurious, the e-ticketing is convenient, and the atmosphere is great. Though Ive never been to their bar, Ive heard fantastic things about it.
Great neighborhood theater playing major movies located in a great building. Enjoy a drink and bite at the bar before or after your movie
This theater is one of the most hip in the city. Its in the fun neighborhood of Shaw, in a fun new apartment building, surrounded by some of the citys best dining (Haikan for example). You can order your tickets online head of time and print them out onsite. They sell all the usual theater candies (yep, with the same steep price tags attached) as well as craft beer! The theaters are normal with decently comfy chairs!
Small theater with restaurant and bar. All theaters have assigned, stadium style, super comfortable seating. The front bar area is great for a drink before (or during the movie). Fun cocktail list and nice atmosphere. Definitely a better way to do movies.
The cinema was nice and cosy. The bar staff was great too. Just dont order food- it tastes terrible and comes out super slowly.
Awesome theatre. Small intimate theatres. Comfortable seats. Clean
We watched Thor: Ragnorok on Thanksgiving and had an excellent time. The theater is comfortable, has a great selection of food and drink, and the movie titles are decent. Definitely much better than heading all the way to Gallery Place!
Any theater that offers alcoholic beverages is alright with me. The bartender was not friendly at all. Very short responses and unwelcoming. Her tip was greatly affected. Everyone else had smiles and made you feel welcome
Im glad so many like this place thats the reason I gave two stars it is chilly inside but I like that and the seats are fairly comfortable but it is a small theater and the a hole behind me kept kicking my chair so I was uncomfortable. the guy at the concession stand put so much ice in my diet soda it just turned flat and I wasted 475 on a small soda which is really small. and a couple of the workers were just standing staring at me watching me order a bottle of water during the middle of the movie and laughing and I felt they could have been doing something constructive...not coming back personally. Its all good.
Good screens, great location, comfy chairs. I love the premium concessions, including good cocktails, wine, and beer. Its a quick walk for me, which is a major plus. The fact that it caters to a higher-end audience has thus far eliminated crying babies or loud talking.
This movie theatre is perfectly suited to the area its in. You can book large, comfy seats in advance and order a craft beer or cocktail to bring with you into the theater. The screens are a little small, but space is at a premium on U St and its a sacrifice Im willing to make to not trek down to Chinatown.
Very nice theater in a great location with a good selection of mainstream and indie/limited release movies. They have a bar attached so you can drink alcoholic beverages during the movie which is nice. The theater seats are super comfortable as well.
