This is a very good place to catch a flick. Decent prices, especially during matinee. Also, it is small and cozy, with no more than 30 seats per screen. Screens are smaller, so it is not recommended you watch Mission Impossible here. However, for many indie flicks and dramas, this will suffice.Nice service as well. I asked for Cherry Coke and they didnt have it, but they made me a custom Cherry Coke using Cherry Syrup! Outstanding! This is compatible with Sinema, for those who use that app.
Since E Street took over operations, it is the best it’s ever been! The seats are new and comfortable. Great concession offerings. Conveniently located. I used to avoid this theater if I could find the same movie at AMC Georgetown. Now I look at E Street West End first. It’s a gem!
Good place for more out of the way films. Convenient to Foggy Bottom metro and numerous dining options.
Nice building service was okay I didnt get her name
A terrific small theater for quality films. The staff is polite and works fast to get you in your seat.
Excellent experience at this local independent theater. Concessions had organic and recyclable products. Stag was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the extra touch of staffer coming in to announce the movie, the upcoming showings, and thanking us for our patronage. Small but full theater, clearly full of fellow independent film entire enthusiasts!
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The place was clean and nice. However it was soooooo hot inside we had to leave early, our son couldnt handle the swealtering heat.
This is a fun little movie theater where I always enjoy seeing films. They typically carry more independent films and documentaries so if you are looking for that this can be a good place for you. They have a good snack and drink selection including different beers and wines. Only draw backs to this place is it is a bit small so for movies that are in high demand they can sell out quickly.
Cozy place to watch movies. We watched One Cild Nation and were very impressed.
A small theater but a great experience with good food and drink choices. Even the previews were good.
Great little Cinema in the west end. Emphasis on little, but the staff are super friendly.
A great theater for independent films and classics. The West End and E Street cinemas add extraordinary value to the District.
Good staff good place to go to see some classics films
Theater is a little old, but definitely have a good rotation of Art house films.
Nice little place to see independent and foreign films
Great little theatre. Classy. Comfy seats. Snacks were not the greatest this time and we we disappointed because landmark usually has great popcorn. Staff was very friendly. Nice experience overall and will go again.
We really like the Landmark Theater chain with a better variety at foods and a week-stocked bar for any kind of drink. The big comfortable reserved seating on a raked floor means no instructed views. Our favorite theater is the one in Bethesda, with a comfortable lounge to sit and wait for friends while enjoying the treats. They play the better, more interesting movies.
This cinema is great; traditional ol facade, then a mega complex down below. Art films, mainstream, cocktails. You can just wander in anytime of day or night and youll find something to see. A great oasis smack in downtown D.C.
Cozy and intimate theater - usually showing indie and more artistic films. Ive watched the oscar nominated documentaries here - theyre usually pretty long, but the seats here are updated and comfy so it makes for a relaxing experience. Good place to escape the mainstream crowds over at AMC Georgetown.
I saw free solo here a few months ago. Great experience, I’ll definitely be back.
This theatre, nestled nicely in what seems like the basement of the Kaiser Permanente Northwest office building, is a solid value for weekday indie flicks. It doesnt have all the grand fixings of modern theatres, but will probably remind you of a well-built home theatre. It certainly shares the kind, relaxing atmosphere and lack of an overwhelming or loud crowd.
Excellent theater that offers a thoughtfully curated line-up. A refreshing place in the world of BIG BOX everything..
I love Wednesday classics.
Small. Quaint. Unique. As theater should be.
I loved this theater! Just went for the first time to see La La Land there (perfect theater atmosphere for that movie - they just fit together great!) The staff are friendly and personable, the theater is small (in a good way) and intimate, and great seats. Definitely plan on going back!
Nice place to share lovely moments.
I give this place props for representing the indie movie scene. Aside from E Street, this is really the only other place in the city. They shut down for awhile and then opened back up under new management. The theaters are small but perfectly fine. They have these weird folding seats that are kind of like recliners. They are comfy but they give the place a sort of temporary vibe. Whoever picks the movies does a good job, they show some interesting and fun movies. My only complaint is that their last showings of the night are always sort of early (around 8 pm). They serve booze, which is a plus.
A small movie theater that shows predominantly independent movies, West End tends to be quieter than the other Landmark theaters in DC (E Street and Atlantic Plumbing). The concessions are good and staff are friendly.
A really good place for family outings. I went here once and I marveled at how beautiful the place is. It’s also a good place for the family. A world class theater.
Great place to watch a movie
Small cinema in the heart of DC.
Small place that shows maybe some less herd of movies. They do serve alcoholic beverages though. Not the worst thing to have with a movie.
Cozy, small theater. The screens are a bit small but the seats are nice, and they show older or independent films.
Small auditoriums so get there early if it is a popular show.
Gotta love an indie theater. An employee warned my group to stay tuned for a post-credits scene, which was nice. And at the end of the night he gave out bags of leftover popcorn for free.
Friendly staff. Quality non-mainstream films. Fresh Popcorn. Love this cinema chain.
Great place to grab a drink and enjoy small screen indie cinema.
Very sweet and intimate movie theater with a wine happy hour
Excellent theater. Very clean. Wonderful staff!
Good independent theater with good, interesting beer selection.
Nice city gem
Very good theater.
Last night I went to the West End Cinema for the first time and I loved it! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I was a little surprised at the size of the theater, but I liked the coziness. Im used to the mammoth theaters out in Leesburg and Tysons Corner, so it was a comfortable change. This cinema is definitely more my pace and I look forward to catching more shows there!
Small screens and theaters but great place to see movies.
Intimate, clean, lots of leg room, friendly staff
People were friendly and the seats were comfortable, but the theaters and screens were super small. Also, my popcorn had far too much butter and was really not good.
Excellent venue for indie, foreign and documentary films. Smaller theatres and so so projection
Very accommodating. Has a wide variety of alternative movies on display. Accessible for disabled person.
Great indie movies, and a comfortable seat makes it worth the trip .
This is a valuable cultural necessity for my neighborhood and all of DC. They always show films you cant find elsewhere--important documentaries, especially, and I go there to relax and forget about everything, with quality refreshments offered, and quality people who attend.
Quiet, offbeat movie selection, comfy seats, good fresh popcorn, not so crowded, smaller screens
Nice intimate setting
We like this small neighborhood movie theater. One can purchase wine and beer to further enhance the movie going experience!
Two tiny theaters (40-50 people each?) that show independent films. Very comfortable new seats were installed (spring 2016). Interesting selection of concession food/drinks (not just soda/candy/popcorn).
Experience best movietheater in dc. always has a good choice of films- unique choices -most often stimulating and thought provoking intelligent material and meaningful entertainment -vast arrray of choices -small friendly and good eats and drinks if wanted! Thanks to West END
Clean, comfortable, but it is a smaller venue. Enjoyed it.
A very nice theater, comfortable seats and good sight lines from our position.
So glad they brought this back under an awesome company. Miss the old management but theyre doing a great job keeping that art house vibe.
While I do enjoy visiting on occasion, I have a hard time dishing out $11 for an independent film Im not sure Ill like. The theaters are small, accompanied by a small video screen, and they never fully dim the lights which I find distracting. As for concessions, they really just have your run-of-the-mill movie candy. Apparently, they also offer sandwiches, but theyve been out every time Ive asked about them.
Great indie movie theater! Prices are reasonable too.
A bit expensive for essentially a large projection screen. But, the popcorn IS THE BEST IN THE CITY!And the customer service was extremely friendly.
Excellent microplex cinema with small, cosy theaters and the top pick of arty films. Good selection of snacks and drinks available, including adult beverages. A truly intimate film-viewing experience.
Nice quiet theater. Serves wine, but there arent many menu options for heavier meals
The theatre was clean, however, the position of the seating (relative to the screen) was odd. The staff member at the front was nice.
Gotta hand it to themTheyre keeping it real and offering less than blockbustery moviesNice concessions too
Love the small feel here. Its like your own private theatre.
Small screen of mostly independent films. Sometime its the right venue for a film, other times it can feel like youre watching a movie in someones home theater. Great popcorn.
Very small hall/ screen . I guess people have much bigger screen at home ...lol. And screen is not clear .
Love the popcorns, and I love this place specially because of the different offer of movies.
Great place very helpful staff.
Super comfy seats in a cozy theater in the middle of the city, and where the films are always intriguing
Comfortable seats but awkward layout. Movies that you wont find playing other places.
I enjoyed this little theatre. I went to go see The Internets Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz. The prices for the food and drink were higher than other higher end theatres. The staff was friendly and the theatre seats were comfortable. They werent as spacious as other theatres that ive been to. I personally love the theatres where you can raise the hand rest to get closer to your date. All in all, great movie theatre, I had an excellent experience and I was able to see a movie at this location that I couldnt see anywhere else. I recommend this place if you want to go and see an indie, independent, or foreign films and still have that movie experience. Normally youre stuck watching these types of films on a computer streaming off of the internet. Its nice to have the movie theatre environment.
Very comfortable chairs, and a nice vibe for Indy films.
Cool movies, but screens and seats arent great.
Great local theater. Lots of food and drink options that you can bring into the theater.
Short run / limited run features. Small but comfy.
Lovely movie theater in the heart of West End
The customer service is fine. But the screens are too small.
Small quaint place, clean, very help staff, some unique snacks.
Small and intimate. Comfortable and clean.
Nice theatre, no one ever there though
Tiny venue that has some really good movies
Small but good intimate movie theater
Nice small theater with great movie selection
KUDOS Mr. Leven stand up for what is RIGHT
Nice small theater
Parking is not convenient but the theater is nice
The staff is friendly and the theaters are comfortable.
Really nice people
Classic smaller theater with old school popcorn and carpet. Nostalgia ultra.
Is so smol. I went there to see The disaster artist with my so called girlfriend and wanted to sit in the back seat so we could make out. The last row was also the fifth one.
Mini theater. Screen too small, but same price.
Nicest theater in DC
Nice cozy theater
Great!
Small theater, but great staff.
Outstanding!
Love the movies and proximity to home.
Recently reopened and acquired by Landmark Theaters.
