Whether youre looking to go to a small experimental show or take in some of the biggest productions around, the Kennedy Center has what youre looking for. Arrive early or stay late to take in some of the best views of the city from the rooftop terrace! Then come back again to visit The Reach, a lush campus filled with art, flowers and plenty of space for a relaxing picnic.
Loved the Winter Lanterns exhibit at The Reach! The signs of the zodiac were neat but the real stars were some of the animals including pandas, turtles, tigers, and even a Dragon! Cant wait to see what they have there next. Only complaint is the walkways are fairly narrow given the large crowds. They could better manage the crowds by keeping everyone flowing in the same direction through the installation, particularly on the pathway through the signs of the zodiac that dead ends leaving no option but to fight back through the crowd to get out.
Lovely place. There are concerts held every day almost. The ticket price varies but there is one free concert for public at around 5:30 pm EST everyday. Check on internet before you go. I attended one The Italian Band and it was amazing. The ambience, the atmosphere, the Kenedy center is next to Potomac river so view of river and Georgetown waterfront is mesmerizing. But concert is really nice one should attend and especially when you get a chance to check it out for free.
The Kennedy center is one of those amazing places that you are lucky to get a chance to see a show in. Its a building that is nicer than any other Broadway theatre or most performing arts centers in the country. You can see multiple performances in a day and can even head up to the cafe or restaurant to get a bite to eat. Even if youre not a performing arts fan, its definitely worth it to catch a show here once in your life - and dont forget to head up to the terrace to take in the panoramic views of DC!
Pretty. They host many many events. Some further parking garages offer free shuttles to the center check out spot hero. Or pay the premium of the on site parking garage. The place is clean, lighting, and sound.Depending on the event it can organized better but I typically do the free family dad stuff.
We went to the Kennedy Center to enjoy the Millennium stage free concert. It was world class with the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra compromised of high school and college students. What stage is small on the ceiling is tight and you have to sit on the floor if you get there late. But its worth the performance and the fact that its in the Kennedy Center. Acoustics and sound of rope last and the musicians and performers are top-notch. I highly recommend going to Millennium stage and enjoying the performances and bringing friends and family to do so.
Great shows. Good seating options. Its a very nice venue. There are multiple theaters inside so you can always find something to see. They have a nice gift shop and make concessions readily available. The view outside is lovely also by the waterfront. Its a nice place to view part of DC while you are on intermission or before your show begins.
Honestly, it doesn’t always feel that DC even deserves the Kennedy Center. It is consistently able to put on Broadway scale productions and draw world renowned talent. Millennium Stages offers free shows daily. The space is massive and it’s just cool to be there in an indoor space as physically large as it is. Nothing quite like it.
I always enjoy a show at the Kennedy Center. Right now were hanging out on the outside patio enjoying the view of the Potomac river. Theres a little cafeteria inside, and also a fancier restaurant. They also sell snacks in the lobby. Parking is plentiful but expensive ($23.00 or $20.00 if you prepay). Theres a free shuttle bus from the Foggy Bottom Metro. The quality of the productions is high, but so are ticket prices. They do have free shows every day except Christmas on the Millennium Stage.
What a great venue to see a concert! We saw Squeeze in the concert hall, Marshall Crenshaw opened with an acoustic set, great acoustics, intimate, all seats are good, particularly the box seats. Easy to get drinks before or during and there Team was super helpful and friendly. Definitely check out the roof top patio, great views. It’s really easy to get there from any hotel via Uber and get back using their taxi stand which moves fast, also walkable. If you get a chance, see a concert at the Kennedy Center.
Amazing experience! “My fair Lady” is very very great play. Decoration, music, actors play on very high level.
It’s a wonderful place for music and events!
An exquiste center for the arts. Beautiful, open, well appointed with luxury everywhere. A perfect place to drop by for a visit.
Beautiful location inside and out. Highly recommend visiting the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts if you have time while in DC. The staff was wonderful at the Disneys Aladdin Broadway show in July. The building itself is so aesthetically pleasing, it is worth a visit just to walk around.
United States National Cultural Center, named in 1964 as a memorial to President John F. Kennedy. Opened on September 8, 1971, the performing arts center is a multi-dimensional facility: it produces a wide array of performances encompassing the genres of theater, dance, ballet, and orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, and folk music; offers multi-media performances for adults and children; and is a nexus of performing arts education.
The history of John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is amazing. Music, Dance, Theater, Opera, supporting so many artists and productions. Its a fantastic place to visit and attend a performance.
Beautiful view of the monuments from the upper terrace and free performances everyday at 6 PM. Cafe is pricey, but you get a generous portion.
Amazing venue with unique historical significance and artistic attractions. Great view of the Potomac, too
Bucket list item complete. Beautiful space. Amazing performance. Incredible friends.
Beautiful! The art, the lights, the flags, the culture amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. We saw the free dance performances on the Millennium stage and then noticed Alvin Ailey Dance was performing, got impromptu tickets in the balcony level! The attendant at the box office was right...the seats, Tier 2 on the side were just fine. Excellent performance by Ailey with Revelations on the program! Wins!
The Kennedy Center is a beautiful building, and we had a great time when we saw “Hello Dolly.” Such a fun experience, and the wine sippy cups were an added bonus!
Gorgeous venue, gorgeous performances. Dont hesitate to go to any show, but do resist the urge to save money on any tier above the second in the Concert Hall. One exception would be if you dont care to actually see the entire stage and/or are very hungry and need to eat during the performance. The seats on the sides of Tier 2 are single file, like you are sitting on a bus. You have to lean over the rail if you want to see anything and you will still not be able to see the side of the stage you are on. I would avoid this section at all costs!
This place offers various courses on performing Arts to students from grade 9 to 12, and other teens and teachers, have free performances, shows with ticket sales from all over the world, as well as exhibits. They have gift shops, food trucks in the outside area with comfortable tables with chairs and kids play area.
Great venue in Washington DC to see Opera, Ballet, Concerts, Shows or anything else of art relevance in this Town.Be warned though that despite being the Capital of this great nation, its politicians are incapable and unwilling to extend the Metro line to this fantastic venue and thus we all have to undergo the inconvenience to travel by special buses that stop outside Foggy Bottom Station to take you to the venue.I sincerely hope and trust that this outrageous situation is remedy at the earlieast convenience Politicians of both Parties at local and nationwide level finally decide to do their job and do the only decent thing.!!!
The Millennium Stage has a free concert every day at 600PM! Amazing!Impossible not to love the place. It is located in the Kennedy Center, in a wonderful setting, with beautiful views of the Potomac River and the city of Washington.
Gorgeous. Nice outdoor art. Coffee shop was closed when I visited but looks like it would be fun to hang out there. Nice views of river.
Fantastic performance! All star cast to include Patti Austin Bebe Winans, Freddy Cole, Dulel Hill, Eric Benet, Terri lyne Carrington and Freddy Cole.
Remember everyday @ 6pm a free performance! Welcome to the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. It is a venue that brings everyone together to enjoy the performing arts. The Possibilities are endless! It is even streamed live on the internet. I enjoyed my introduction to this venue with the Joseph Henson Jazz Quintet performing. Refreshments are available and the sound is Kennedy Center quality. This should be the hottest ticket town for ALL performing artist A place to let creativity flow... Then go Reach! to new heights.
The MLK Jr Celebration was wonderful and Chaka Khan was phenomenal!
I enjoyed a lot at the theater. It’s big and comfortable. You can go for free shows. Great cultural movement!
What can I say about this place other than, it’s an incredible place to get to go to! If you get the chance to go to a show here, don’t hesitate! They only put on shows that are of the highest rating so you know you’re in for a good one. The restrooms are state of the art and the security is amazing too. Consider looking for their next show here and buying a ticket!
Can there be a more iconic performing arts venue?? I took my three young daughters to see a childrens play here and we had a fabulous time. The building is gorgeous and the second floor veranda views of the city and Potomac River are remarkable. The gift shop has unique and fun options at all price points. Parking can be tough, but we found free street parking just a few blocks away.
Kennedy center has the best shows in DC. Theyre the most expensive, but theyre also the best. I dont think theres a bad seat in the house. Theres food for before the show if you want and great drinks ($$) for during the show. Wander the halls and enjoy the free daily shows and color old show exhibits of famous costumes from previous shows.
Unfortunately we did not make it in time for the performance and had to watch the simulcast of Blacks on Wax. It was still incredibly entertaining and I’m sure it would have been much more engaging in the theatre. The center is amazing and so much bigger than I imagined and way bigger than the Broward Center I’m used to
The Kennedy Center is always a wonderful concert experience! This time we had box seats over the orchestra and that was really great! We also attended the pre-concert talk, which we love to do when traffic lets us get there in time! We did park at the KC this time, but the Watergate next door has much better rates and is an easy walk.
Beautiful place for performing Arts. Once in a weekend (probably Wednesday ) theres a free cultural show open for all. The interiors are beautiful. Spacious lobby and very good sound system. They also open a Coffee Corner.
An amazing venue. The JFK Center is packed full of events and concerts happening on a daily basis; from up-and-coming artists to big budget established creators. Stop by to get flyers and pamphlets to find out whats going on because the website doesnt always give you everything. If nothing else, come to enjoy this awesome building and hear some live music.
Take a (free) wander up to the terrace for a great view of the Potomac and city. Also have the halls of state and Nations to look around
One of my favorite places and a must-see in the city. All the world flags and colorful exhibits inside, the free shows every day at 6 PM, the balcony outside, and the great big chandeliers...even if you dont pay for a show, it is worth seeing. Especially now that the REACH has opened up, this space offers so many possibilities in a beautiful venue. Mr. Kennedy would be very proud if he were to see it today.
Very amazing place. I have come here now for two different shows. I came to see Maxwell and Cats. It is always very clean and the staff is always friendly. There seating is amazing anywhere that you sit. The ushers are always nice and they concessions are well stocked with lots of options. The bathrooms are also close so when you have intermission you dont miss anything. Parking is challenging and I recommend you pre-purchasing if you can while booking your ticket otherwise it is definitely a phenomenal experience. I highly recommend
The center always has interesting events! Joined the Reach opening event here. Great Indian dance lesson! Shows here are also great!
Enjoyed the annual Lunar New Year 2020 festivities with all the beautiful lanterns and hands-on activities. Especially enjoyed the Feelak Company Performance (Percussion Ensemble)! It wouldve been great if their performance was a bit longer. They had great energy and loved the interaction with the audience!
Take the tour! Special props to The Friends of the Kennedy Center, who are happy to show off this amazing place. The view from the roof is gorgeous. Beautiful artwork from around the world. Free performing arts shows.
Is the United States National Cultural Center, located on the Potomac River, adjacent to the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C., named in 1964 as a memorial to President John F.
Hard to maneuver around inside, seats were super tight but massive hallways and great view of Potomac River. Had a nice time there. Stuffs inside are overpriced.
Nice seating, open space. Convenient parking. Easy access to the will call box. They sell lite refreshments before performance. New addition of souvenir cup is nice so that you have a closed container. Easy to get seated. Nice group of folks to direct you.
Great views out on the terrace! Interesting shows throughout the year. Also, many free concerts. There are two food options here- both are good yet both are expensive.
Here for a show and award ceremony in the Terrace theatre. The place is beautiful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
An incredible space to enjoy incredibly entertainment. If you have small children in your life, definitely take advantage of the Family Theatre and the new programming at The Reach. Inexpensive and educational all wrapped up in beautiful environs. A true gem of Washington, DC. (Food tip: They serve a La Frieda burger at The Terrace!)
A very good place for musicals, opera or any other audio permonance. Also a perfect place for nice views (and photos). The have a cafe and a restaurant too.
Actually I was not in the building but on top of it where our partners hace designed and constructed marvelous green roof which transforms in to green wall. State of the art project.
Always a great place to enjoy the theatre! Not only does one get to see traditional production, but newer and more innovated productions as well. Being a member has been nice perks, like attending cast parties.
What an incredible gift inspired by the Kennedy Foundation! There are multiple theatres varying in size, and special rooms dedicated to other countries. You can take a self-guided tour, but I recommend contacting your senator to schedule a guided tour. Aside from the rotating shows, they offer complimentary concerts most evenings also. Its easily accessible from the Metro and offers stunning views from the rooftop.
Loved the performance of Cats!! Also very much enjoyed lunch from the Fields Buffet Station at the KC Cafe plus a refreshing outing on the terrace to appreciate the views!!
Stunning architecture and decor! Friendly people giving free tours. Also learned about free concerts 365 days a year at 6pm!
Fantastic venue for the arts. Filled with history and an air of magic. Thoroughly enjoyed our night there listening to the NOS. Seats were comfortable and there isnt a bad seat in the house.
If you are a person with a disability, especially a service animal, you will be 100% welcome here. They truly show that the arts are for everyone. After taking our assigned spot, where my service dog was a little cramped, an usher asked to move us to a better spot and immediately got us substitute tickets. We were greeted with completed professionalism and you could tell they were trained specifically for service dog etiquette and I have never felt more welcome in an establishment.Thank you Kennedy Center for your true hospitality and professionalism.
The place is amaxing. You should definitely check out the hallways and art works. We were in the area to visit the new REACH. Right now there is free entertainment and great good trucks close by for your enjoyment. I hope you get to stop in during the opening ceremonies of the REACH also.
What an incredible place. Never been disappointed with a single performance. They even have free events. They have parking available on site as well. And the fact that it overlooks the river makes it a beautiful site coming into DC. Highly recommended place to go. Perfect for date night
The atmosphere was electrifying! The ushers, parking attendants, security and vendors were professional and courteous. I really enjoyed Ms. Diana Ross performing her new and legendary ballards. And her numerous wardrobe changes. It was simply Fabulous!!
As always, The Opera House is a beautiful and historic venue. Our mother is disabled and the staff went above and beyond ensuring she had a safe and very enjoyable experience. From the ticket sales ensuring we had excellent, convenient seats, to the doorman, to the ushers...everyone was so friendly and professional.Being a DC area native, Ive been to the Kennedy Center many times over the years and I cherish the experience every time.
Great show - The Nutcracker. Paid ahead to park in the garage, definitely worth it.
Its airy and beautiful inside and out. American Brutalist architecture. Great theatre, entertainment in lobby. Avoid the gift shop its a rip. Dinner is about 30$ per head with an alcoholic drink. The staff are lovely. Its a treat as it isnt cheap. But yes worth it for a little treat
The Hamiltones tore the house down! Dinner was amazing and the service was superb. I had the most fabulous time. I love the Kennedy Center and I love how they represent my hometown Washington, D.C. with class! The Millennium Stage is one of the greatest entertainment options in the DC area. Free shows every day - wide variety of music types, amazing entertainment. Come early for happy hour prices on drinks before the shows. Been going to these shows for years and have never been disappointed.
We had a tour at this Kennedy Memorial Performing Arts. It was amazing with all of the architecture - nice and fancy.
They have steered themselves to find a nice blend of decorum and grace. The free events are authentic not corny, and the theaters are traditional and small enough to deliver a memorable experience. Parking garage has got its system well organized; much better than decades ago.
Loved our tour, very informative and enjoyable.
Phenomenal lantern experience. Appreciate the rich diversity and cultural exchange highlighted in DC at the Kennedy Center and it was free.
I have always loved coming to see shows here. The Kennedy Center is like no other. It holds magic!
It offers a diverse array of performing arts, has string ties to the school systems, and community.
This place is magnificent!! I felt like it was an honor to attend a show here! The halls between the theaters are awe inspiring and make you feel like you are part of something special. The theater we were in seemed like it had no bad seats, that everyone would enjoy the show and be totally drawn into the performance no matter where they sat. I anticipate many return visits!!
My family’s holiday tradition is The Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center. A beautiful ambiance and excellent ballet EVERY YEAR.
Music by a live orchestra. Beautiful dancing by a first rate ballet company. Perfectly helpful and cordial docents Amazing Chinese lantern exhibit after the show. Truly a perfect evening in all respects!
What a grand space! I love it and loved the shop where I bought an exquisite bow tie made of feathers! The show we saw was My Fair Lady and the lead lady Shirin Ahmed was delightful as well as the other actors. Lovely evening all round
I have only attended the performances at the Millennium Stage, so my review is purely for that area. The performances occur almost everyday at 6 pm and quite unique. Since its free for anyone to attend, they attract a lot of crowd on weekends. The chairs are limited to around 20 rows after which attendees can make a choice if they want to stand or sit on the floor or the stairs in the back. Staff is very friendly. The Hall of Nations is a nice area to play a quick game by yourself to see how many flags can you identify. I look forward to attending a ticketed show and adding to this review then.
Great facility for seeing the ballet. Was surprised to learn infants need to their own ticket, even if being cradled in your arms the whole time. Just something to be aware of...
Lovely dinner at the Terrace Restaurant! I highly recommend the tuna tartare. seeing Broadways Aladdin was the icing on the cake, and the shuttles from the Metro make it truly accessible!
Have seen Kennedy Center Honors program on television but had no idea that the Center itself was so huge and beautiful. Multiple venues within a venue, kids programs, tours, gift shop, restaurant and cafe, all in one place. Beautiful building overlooking the Potomac River. Was light in rainbow colors (for the upcoming Honors event).
Amazing performance of My Fair Lady. Sets were stunning. Perfect sound balance between singers and orchestra. Truly top drawer.
Mixed feelings, saw Aladdin here. Great show but feels appropriative and a little off. They tried to update it but didn’t fully pull it off. Great sets and skills, and cool carpet effect. Will come again of course.
Great shows, beautiful building and wonderful views. HOWEVER.......some of the meanest, rudest ushers I have ever met. Weve been going to the Christmas Chorus for years and every interaction with these people has left a bad impression on me and my family. Being in the customer service business I would expect better. Be nice or quit!!
Beautiful place. Parking right underneath. Went and saw a christmas concert and it was the greatest thing Ive been apart of in a long time. Great staff there. It is a well rounded place and definitely a go to if you are a fan of the performing arts
It is great,,, as usual. I love the variety of performances you can see there. I have been to see the national symphony orchestra, opera, and six other performances. It is a space that everyone is welcome, too, and the staff makes sure that is known. The only complaint I would have is parking. The prices to events are not always that low, and parking there is also not that cheap, so I would recommend taking the metro, then taking there free shuttle is possible.
Tucked away in a quiet bend of the Potomac River, The Kennedy Center is a monument often overlooked as visitors assume the only reason to go is to see a show. So much more than a performing arts center, be sure to take advantage of the bars, restaurant, views, architecture and quiet peaceful spaces to be found at this monument to America’s 35th President.
Free shows every night at 6pm, musical performances, plays, and the rooftop view at sunset is gorgeous. Day of discounted tickets available at the box office. DC staple.
We saw the National Symphony Orchestra for Carmina Burana and itnwas absolutely amazing! We had seats right over the orchestra so we could see everything. The conductor was so much fun to watch and the instrumentalists and singers were amazing. Cannot wait to go back!
Excellent venue. Free performances at millennium stage can be unique and of high quality. Useful free shuttle service from the subway station is a major bonus.
Amazing performance arts spot that have a well design yet advance accessibility. Not only for the visitors the museum access program also provide the disable performers. Please check the website or the booklets to find more info about your needs.
Only went to the Millennium Stage (for a great performance by Angelica Garcia). The building is fantastic!
It was amazing. I had never gone until tonight. Its absolutely breath taking. I cant wait to go back. The architecture, the atmosphere, the overall environment of it was great. Cant wait for my next trip.
Dont Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! Was amazing! The accompanying app taking you on a tour of the Kennedy Center was so much fun. My daughter and I loved it.
A must see Washington DC institution. Amazing performance art in a visual art filled, multicultural center.
Saw the play Love Factually at the Kennedy Center a few days ago. The Center is elegant as always and has multiple performance stages including an Opera House. The play is a parody based on the movie Love Actually filled with comic sketches, song and dance with some audience participation.
Such a beautiful place. Nice view of the river...
