Been attending shows at this venue since early 2000s. This is my fave small venue. Intimate show no matter where you are in the room. A staple of DCs music scene, and staffed by wonderful people that are kind and happy to be there.
This was my first time there. I loved the space. I ordered a vegan chili burrito, and though the kitchen had to close for like 30 min right when I made it to the front of the line, we were patient and the burrito was so good. I went to see Allen Stone. He and the opening acts were great! Youll have a great time if you visit 930 club.
Wonderful place! They have drink specials at the different bars, there are three bars in total. if you ever want a Excellency go upstairs in the balcony on the left and right hand corners or stand directly in the middle and you have a perfect view regardless of how tall you are there are also bathrooms up there and on your way up the stairs be sure to stop at the coffee shop and get an espresso and so you can get energy for the show if you need it. the venue has a pretty small emergency area which is always a welcome sight because it cuts down on the congestion and the acoustics are really really good
I used to come here when I was younger! When music was at its prime lol My favorite band came here and I knew it was a small intimate venue and that it would be the best way to see them! Blue October had a good hour and a half set and it was truly amazing! The venue was just as I had remembered it and the sound is amazing in there. The crowd was amazingly chill and there werent any obnoxious people ruining the show so I was extremely happy about that! We had a hard time finding the parking lot of the venue but we managed to figure it out eventually. They even let the band stay after the show to sign autographs for their merchandise that you bought. I was elated! Wonderful evening and experience!! I recommend going here if one of your favorite bands comes to perform here.
I saw Oliver Tree at this great venue. Before the show everything was very clean and tidy--including the restrooms. The view from the balcony was fantastic & staff was very helpful. Security was fair and very attentive to the crowd surfers and rowdy behavior. Crowd was pretty young for the content but, I guess that says more about the performers than the venue. Will definitely go back to catch a show!
This is one of my favorite clubs in the area. With lots of room, a great atmosphere, and great talent their to perform, this is definitely the type of club that is worth seeing a show at.
930 Club is a place to keep an eye on. They have all kinds of artists do shows here. From rock to rap, spoken word, and anything in between. If youre no already watching your favorite artists tour schedule, check the 930 Clubs schedule. The venue itself is a good size to fit a lot of people but small enough to where everyone is still close enough to see the stage well. Drinks can be pricey but they are at least strong which is standard fare.

GWAR! Great show, cool club
This was my first time visiting the 9:30 Club. Im rarely in the city, but decided to surprise my hunny with a date night in DC. We went to see Allen Stone live, and it was an intimate experience while also accommodating a decent size crowd. There were a few bars in the building, as well as a concession area and a coat check area. It was an amazing experience, and Id definitely like to go again. Maybe one day, our band will even perform there!
An amazingly cool, small venue to see and hear music. Arrive when the doors open so you have a chance to go in the Room with the albums and posters from all of the previous performers over the years! I love this place so much
Went here to see a concert. The venue was a lot bigger than I imagined and it was filled to the brim. Small bar area, which leaves plenty of room. Sadly theres only one exit and entering and exciting is pretty slow. Youll have to squeeze past people, and almost rush to get yourself out of this tiny place. Overall the place is clean and well kept, would go again.
Great venue. Intimate enough to have great views from just about anywhere. Great sounds. If you arent concerned with standing front and center stage, the balcony is a great place to watch the show.
Wow! I haven’t attended a concert here in over 5 years. Last time I went it was kind of grimy. The new renovation is amazing! Nicely appointed balcony with seats. Very clean bathrooms. Nice bars throughout. I will be back for more concerts! We had a great time.
An absolute icon of the DC music scene and for good reason. Solid band lineups year after year that provide an intimate way to see your favorite artists. Being a short walk from metro means you can indulge in the quality drink lineup. If youve never been this is your official sign to go and see that show you were thinking about.
Fantastic, intimate venue. They pull in bands that would only be seen at larger venues in other cities. Update (3/22/2019) - on previous visits Ive found the sound quality to be increasingly poor (way too loud causing clipping / distortion), but when I visited last night the sound was truly stellar, really crisp and clean across the spectrum. A fantastic experience that let me focus on the music and dancing my butt off.
1) I love the 9:30 club. Best venue on the East Coast. Hope it reopens.2) Proud to be the 3,000th comment.
I drove up here from NC to see a show. the venue was much bigger than my normal place and was a great price. Staff was very generous and helpful too, so the concert was a blast
The 930 Club draws great talent!
9:30 club is a concert venue with three levels. On the ground level is where the concert takes place. The upper level allows good views from the artist and the crowds as well as some space to seat. The underground level has a tiny bar where bro grab some food. All levels offer drinks and water. We were there yesterday for the Owl City concert and we really enjoyed it. Also it is located in the heart of a very vibrant neighborhood!
Wonderful venue. Been many times for lots of different kinds of shows. Not really a bad spot in the whole place. Sound is great and never too loud. Nice bars and drinks, but a little expensive. Coffee bar is a nice little thing. Food window available and lots of options for vegetarians. Cupcakes are quite good!
DC has changed a lot in the last 20 years and so has the music options. But one truth remains the same. When you consider size of venue, the quality and balance of the soundsystem, the crowds the venue draws, and the energy that the artists bring to the shows, theres only one determination I can make. 9:30 club is the best venue in DC and one of the best places to see music on the Eastern seaboard.
930 is great. Good drink selections that arent an arm and a leg at a venue like this is rare and worth mentioning. More importantly they have great shows and great security. Sound engineers also get a . See a show here - you wont be disappointed.
Love this venue and everything about it! I hope it never goes away or changes!
Best concert venue!! Amazing sound and anywhere you stand is a great view. Good beer list, each of the three bars always have something slightly different. The cupcakes and coffee you can get there are also high quality!
Not a bad venue. Great intimate vibe for your favorite artist. The line around the block to get in can be a bit much but definitely worth it. Parking is a mother. Metro it in or take a Lyft.
My favorite venue in the DMV area. They have always have great acts and fantastic views no matter where you are in the house. The drinks they have are top notch and they have a snack window if you need food that’s open through most of the show. Love them and all their venues but 930 Club is the best in my opinion.
Standing room only. Stage and artist are not visibly from most areas where you stand. There are no projector screens or monitors that can make it better to see. Nice sound system however, low sounds are so loud that they distort at times. Over all great artist good sound, but not that enjoyable.
Reminds me of the Norva in Norfolk. Affordable shows and great talent. I was super excited to see my husband, Jacob Banks, (just putting it out into the universe to send me my blessing) and apparently so was everyone else and I managed to be early enough to get within (extremely long) arms reach of the stage. I didnt mind standing all night (wear comfortable shoes and clothes) just didnt like that my short height really got the best of me. Get here early for both parking and standing room and use the bathroom before you get here. Its a crowd full of space vultures and you will lose your spot if you even look like youre going to move.
Absolutely amazing venue and easy to navigate. Anywhere youre standing, youve got a good view of the stage. The food was good and so was the employee service, especially the merchandise booth and security guards (they were strict but not rude). I was wildly impressed that even being on the balcony, I could see the performers face practically perfectly. Id love to go again.
One of my favorite venues in this area! Staff are so friendly and efficient, and the sound & lights for concerts are always amazing. I love the intimate feel too-you can see the performer pretty much wherever you’re standing (even if you’re stuck in the line for food). Attached is a picture from Dodie’s show on 9/5/19, which was an incredible experience all around.
Great venue and sound. Lighting is mediocre. Management needs to move beyond the stage only lighting. With an investment in lighting over the entire dance floor, the venue would be spectacular.
This is my favorite venue bc its small and intimate. I have gone here for several concerts and it never gets old.
Fantastic staff and production of live shows. seen many shows here and will always go back for more of my favorites!
Great Venue to see a show. The staff was excellent! Made for a great evening..
This is what you should expect for a basic venue. Large open space for standing and a balcony for those who prefer seating. The amenities are limited. Two bars with typical offerings. Prices are ~10 for a premium beer (Flying Dog, Dogfish [premium is their words, not mine]). It is DC, so you expect expensive drinks.Sound in the venue is good. Bathrooms are clean. Nothing horribly special about the place, but there is very little to detract from the experience aside from the cost of drinks.
Such a nice venue. Saw SHAED last night with Absofacto. Drinks were priced really well. We got more than 6 drinks for about 58$!! You can see stage from anywhere in venue. These pics were taken in the back by the bar area.
Very small but the drinks are good, staff is nice and the show I went to was phenomenal.
Fantastic venue Ive been going to since the mid 90s. I say fantastic, but actually its probably one of the best venues on the east coast. If theres any band youre remotely interested in seeing playing at the club... Do yourself a favor and go!
Gone to many shows here over the years. Nothing pretty but always a fun night!
930 has always been amazing. This is the place to go see shows when youre in or near DC. The sound is great, the space and the acoustics are perfect for every band Ive seen. I love this place, if youve never been, you NEED to!
Loved going from 2004-2015ish. Then all of my favorite bands got too pricey to see or booked shows at the anthem. :) still a great place
Driving there and out is atrocious but its a very cool venue. A completely different environment from arena concerts- almost better. I saw this small band called Half Alive and it was a phenomenal experience!
Always love coming to this venue for shows. The people who work here are nice and professional. The restrooms are clean. Its DC so drinks are pricey but thats just how it is and I imagine thats what they make their money from. Its a safe place and Ive never had an issue in all the years Ive gone. They have pretty good underground metal acts there on a regular basis and its easily accessible by Metro.
I live in KC and often have to travel for many of the artists I want to see. Locals underrate this place as I guess its nothing spectacular from a visual perspective. But as a concert goer who prioritizes sound and sight lines this is likely the premier club style venue of its size in the US. The sound is great and you can see the stage from anywhere. It has a convenient location if coming in from out of town, with lots of options for food or drink in the immediate area. If you have to plan a trip somewhere to see your favorite artist one shouldnt hesitate choosing a 930 show.
Super fun time here! As a short person I always anticipate not being able to see but the balcony area has steps so it makes it a lot easier to get a good view. Went to see Yeasayer recently and had a great time, sound quality seems good throughout the space and bars were placed well to get drinks
Just an awesome venue for smaller shows. Plenty of floor space for younger hipper people like myself and also upstairs seating for those inclined to do so. Food and drinks available ringing the floor so you are never without. Also surprisingly clean bathrooms. Nearby parking is a little pricey but its DC so eh.
The stage has great sound and lighting but booze is way over priced. The venue takes a cut of the bands merch so the bands all have to raise their merch prices to compensate. You can avoid most ticket fees here by going to the box office and buying in cash.
There’s a reason artists call the 9:30 one of their favorite places to play. I’ve been coming here for a long time and I’ve never had a bad experience. Lots of killer memories of the Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Willie Nelson, and Jim James most recently. The 9:30 Club consistently hosts diverse acts. Their staff is top notch and professional. Parking is more difficult with all the shiny gentrification but the club does offer parking in their lot and you can pay for it when you get your ticket.
Youre lucky if you see a band you like here. 9:30 Club is an intimate venue with great energy. If you dont have a giant standing in front of you, haha, there isnt a bad spot in the house. Some food, a bar, a coffee bar (sometimes), merchandise and multiple level vantage points available. There is nearby free parking available if youre lucky or willing to take a lap.
Great venue! Wonderful music
The 9:30 club is a great multi-tiered venue in the heart of D.C. the drinks are good, with a knowledgeable staff and well stocked bar. We went to see Emancipator, the show was sold out. As the crowd got more packed in to the main stage area, my group decided to take the stairs to the second story balcony. Complete with a separate bar, restrooms, and much more I enjoyed the balcony more than that of the pit below. 10/10 would recommend 9:30 for anyone wishing for a night out on the town to enjoy some live music.
Awesome venue that is all it is cracked up to be, one of the premier venues in the DC area. The sound was good and the lighting effects were superb. The stage was easy to see and the crowd was well behaved. Easy location to get to with lots to do in the area before or after. Already looking forward to the next visit.
Parking is only 1/2 block (paid ahead w/ tix) very convenient. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. Concert was great with awesome sound & light. Lots of bars/bar tenders. Easy in, easy out with plenty of security.
Ive gone a few times and its a great venue. The staff are helpful and nice, everything is kept clean and they know what theyre doing with the air-conditioning, a serious endeavor when youre handling a space with a lot of warm bodies packed in close. Sound has always been good, even being right next to the speakers doesnt make you feel like youre going deaf. They also have a pretty good beer selection, comparably priced to other similar venues so you arent exactly getting a deal but what can you do, cest la vie.
Perfect for not so big crowded space for concerts and excellent sound from performing bands, Monseur Periné was fantstic
I went to the 9:30 club for my first time recently, to see Clutch play. I love this venue. Its raw, its strangely beautiful in its own way, and I just love the size of the venue. The basement bar was really great too. Drinks are pricey, but you couldve guessed that.
I love this venue. Its the perfect size for the bands I tend to see and has a lot of history and character.
Best place to watch shows in dc.
Historic music venue and absolutely the BEST place to watch a show. The 930 club always hosts the best musicians! Whether top artists or up and coming, every show is incredible. There is 3 bars which makes it easy to get a drink, the crowd is always good, and the energy poppin. Make sure to visit during one of the Throwback Dance Parties too!!
First time at this venue (from NYC), I saw Spafford. The sound quality was great! Bars situated in plenty of places. Wonderful place to see a jam band
Favorite place in DC to see a show. Multiple bars, good sound setup, upper floors give you a good view of the bands.
Trampled by Turtles - Second time seeing them here. Always an amazing show!! Great venue.
Great place to see live music. The place is pretty small but lots of big acts play there. Its nice because everywhere in the building is close to the stage. Parking can be very difficult to find, so its a good idea to reserve it when you buy a ticket if you can.
I went here to see one of my favorite bands the Struts. Nice intimate setting with an upper level that is perfect if you dont want to be in the midst of the crowd. The sound was clear with minimal distortionThere are many bars so drink lines are quick moving and short. I was so surprised to find the food was really, really good with more options than the typical concert hall. My wrap was quite large and featured seasoned cream cheese with lettuce, tomato, and sprouts. As a vegetarian, I am very tickled to be able to choose from more than just pizza or fries. The prices for drinks and for the food was surprisingly low compared to all of the similar places Ive gone to see the Struts in 3 different states. Highly recommend it.
This is a first rate venue. Even with a sold out show, plenty of room to move around and access to beverages.
Great beer selection, cute coffee bar, and great acoustics. In my opinion, one of the best places to catch a show in the country!
First time at 9:30 for their 90s Dance Party. The DJs did a great job and played a diverse offering of the 90s! Brought me back to my HS days (class of 94). The bartender we had was not the nicest, seemed somewhat impatient and not friendly. Also a double costs $19!!! Holy hell! For some reason there was a good number of rude patrons. People CONSTANTLY banging into us even though we stayed on the outside of the crowd near the wall. Had my drink spilled all over my shirt at least 3x with no one saying excuse me or sorry, they literally would just run into/push you out of the way. Finally the balcony cleared off enough that we went up there and finished the night off without a hitch. Ill be back to check out other events as the space and sound was nice.
Great, intimate venue with a tonne of history. Bar staff are wonderful, very friendly and prompt service. The record room at the back is well worth a visit!
Came here the other night and totally had a blast. The music was great the atmosphere here was amazing and the drinks were on point.
Oh my god, amazing show. Lighting and special effects were spectacular and coordinated with stage acts, even when improvised. Sound is mixed perfectly to hear every nuance, and lyric. Air is clean and at a comfortable temperature. Bathrooms also very clean, bright, and spacious for a concert venue! Two bars, one with concessions, and the merch booth service the general admission floor, and a cafe bar services the balcony. Get the hot cider from the cafe, comes with a cinnamon stick in a paper cup! Control booth is in the back of the house on the ground floor; the techs back there must harbor love and passion for the work, as at least one of them had a flamingo plush next to their computer (I was at the Kero Kero Bonito concert, the band famous for their hit meme single Flamingo.)Encores are welcome. The local crowd is also really nice and energetic. I definitely never expected to get caught in a mosh pit at a Kero Kero Bonito concert but there I was. If that is a concern for you, the views and sounds are great and still very up close and intimate from the balcony. The food was also surprisingly great! Variety is amazing, so much more than just bar food. Try the cordonini! They also take card.DEFINITELY going back.
As always, a great show with amazing sound. Had a delicious Irish Coffee and a super-rich-cocoay cupcake from the Barista Bar. Nice open-air bar attached! Staff is always great, and parking is always available next door.
Nice venue for live music. Also very reasonable drink prices for a venue with a captive audience ($8.00 for rail gin and tonic).
I dont like that there are no seats and tables. If I pay $50 for a ticket there should be a seat to sit down. There should be more staff in the food section to accompany the crowds. My quesadilla was not done. There should be security and parking attendants in the parking lot if you want people to pay for parking.
One of best places to see a concert on the East Coast. This is a standing-only venue, so no seats.Great lines a sight to the stage. The balcony wraps around the floor beneath, giving great views. The sound is superb. Unless the mixer screws up, all instruments are clearly heard.A great variety of food is available, if you are hungry, indulge. Ive eaten there a number of times. Cooked fresh and tasty.Even if the show us sold out, it never feels like its packed like sardines in a tin.All in all, I love this place. Always a good time here.
I never went here I just saw this was on 2999 reviews and im tryna be the 3k so ye
One of the best music venues in the country. So many superb artists.
The performance was great however the building can use some updates and the staff can be a little more friendly ( we are the customers ). There are no seats on the bottom level, bench like seats are in the balcony. The drinks are expensive and not worth it and the food is horrible and a waste of money.
Excellent venue. No matter where you are the view And sound is spot on. Staff was kind and helpful. Bathrooms are the cleanest Ive ever seen in a rock club! ;)
Fantastic club. Excellent sound crew and staff. Exceptional hospitality!
Good venue to get a rather intimate concert. Plenty of bathrooms and bars on the premises, even a coffee bar. What esle do you need?!?
Saw lost frequencies hereLoved being on the balcony! And the best part was you could go up even with general admission
An excellent venue. They also book some of our favorites as well as a variety of other performers. worth the trip from Baltimore.
One of my favorite venues in the DC area. I always look forward to catching shows here.
Great venue. Top-notch bands perform there. All types for all tastes. Nice draft selection and good selection of booze.
One of the best venues in the region! The sound, the food and the drinks are great. You can even get vegan comfort food if you want. I mainly love this place because Ive shared great times with friends here. BTW, parking is dicey, so ride your bike or ride the metro.
Honestly Ive been going here for years, but no more. Theyve become too focused on making money and less focused on making quality music. The staff is unfriendly and at times rude. I recommend you look outside the IMP family for local concerts. This is not a place that is welcoming. It is not inclusive. It is not affordable. They dont care about people, just money. Sad how much had changed.
Really great food and drinks. Great space with good views everywhere. Sound can be a little sound and hard for smaller space but always a good time.
The most poorly chosen and trained staff that I have ever experienced at a nightclub.
I don’t know what the hype is all about after at 930
Small venue well designed for shows. I had a great time. If driving to show, I recommend buying the parking when you order tickets. Also, nice bar in the basement if you come an hour early.
