Played golf with my Son-In-Law back in the summer. Everything about the golf course was nice, layout of the fairways, greens, hole selections, tee boxes. The only issue that made the scores high that day was drainage. Do not go play this course on a rainy day or the day after. The water has nowhere to go and just sits on the course. Bunkers were so full of murky water that I lost a ball in one.
Lay out was ok. Fun round of golf. Greens are in good shape fast today. The rest is a dog track.
Nice short course. Had great time only negative is that some of the samd traps have water in them.
The older man with tattoos in the pro shop was pretty grouchy. The course itself needs some work. Its ok for practice.
Everytime I come out to practice the club houses workers are very rude. Practice balls are trash, tee boxes look like they haven’t been mowed in months, all dirt, no grass in the fairways, greens are like concrete, very poor course, very poor staff. Needs to be turned into something else
-Tee boxes are like a batters box in baseball with all the sand.- hit balls in the middle of the fairway and youre hitting off sand.-Some holes dont even have fairways.-bunkers are where all this sand should be...but theyre frustratingly devoid of sand-The man behind the counter with the Clemson hat is nothing but rude.-play elsewhere. This place just isnt worth it
Secured a t-time on line. Sought to move the date. Golf Office cannot help, and the Golf Now company does not answer the phone. I cannot move my t-time. Worst experience ever. After reading the reviews, I will want a total refund.
The staff goes out of their way to help in any way they can.
Terrible course. Backyard is in better shape. Couldn’t tell if it’s a practice football field or a golf course.
Terrible experience! Fairways are missing grass on multiple holes, sand traps are hard, they replace holes with stirophome cups instead of grass, weeds EVERYWHERE! Wont be going back here. Dont waste your money
Whats the worst golf course I never been to the fairways head grass clippings all over him in big clumps the fairway was not a fairway and the staff were rude
Just wanted to check out the golf course when a rude old guy named Bob comes storming out saying we were not allowed on the path and said cant you read! There was a small sign saying no bikes and walking dogs. Funny how we arent allowed to walk on the path through the golf course but plenty of people park in the bow Creek rec center parking lot. Cant wait till the golf course is turned into retention pond!
Had an absolute great time! Would go again
The trail and the water are a beautiful place to go walking/running/bike riding.
Course is in bad shape. Greens are slow. Tee boxes are not cut. Crab grass and weeds everywhere. Guy that works Sunday morning behind counter is an a*****e. There were open tee times Sunday morning and he made us wait until all his little buddies came through the first hole with a shotgun start. Course was completely clear. All he cares about is his little blitz buddies. Yelling at the snack girl in front of guest. I will not be back to this course. There are way better courses and deals out there. Do not waste your 35 dollars on this course.
Great course at a great price.
Best bang for the buck.
Course is in pretty good shape ....some narrow fairways ...4 par 5s and 6 par 3s ...greens are slow but are full and roll true.
Nice course. Nice staff. Short course. Fun to play. You can catch a couple of Canadian geese if you want.
Need something done with sandtraps. Hard surface is not a sandtrap. That said....I still like the place!
The course is almost always in great condition, staff is short handed right now, but still helpful and nice. The greens are a little on the slow side so practice before going out. For 9 or 18 holes, its a great value though.
Not a big time course but good enough to golf at
One of my work stations... Pretty cool place to be.
This place has fallen so far in the past 25 years that somebody should write a book. Absolutely no concern for what happens on the course. Just give them your money and GTFO their hair. No starter to match up singles with groups, no marshals to keep play moving, no ball washers, and no customer service. Maybe theyll get someone to work the food counter when it warms up to 100 degrees, but I wont be going back to find out. The staff can go reproduce individually.
Its got the basic necessities that a golf course needs and has reasonable prices. The driving range is okay, but if youre really trying to improve your swing and aim this might not be the best place to train. The actual course is decent, but its surrounded by the neighborhood and you can easily hit someones house if youre an average golfer. All around youll have a good time but if youre an above average golfer you probably want to try somewhere else such as Honey Bee or Hells Point.
Course in good to great shape. Greens are very good.
Awesome well-maintained greens
Plenty of parking great location easy access very clean
Very well maintained greens and fast. Front 9 fairways wide and forgiving. Back 9 tight and challenging. Good day of golf. Usually not crowded on weekdays.
Course in good shape
This is a great cheap course. The driving range is functional. The greens are extremely small, and there are plenty of bizzar shots. If your not a course snob, youll have a good time. Dont go here thinking its not going to be on the rough side, but I always enjoy a round here.
Course is in very poor condition. No drainage. Fairways, roughs, and most bunkers were in bad shape. Only bright side is it close to home and cheap to play.
I used to hate Bow Creek, but its gotten nicer. The clubhouse is new and the greens are in good shape. There are some bare spots on the fairways and not all tee boxes are great, but its a pretty good value course.
Attended a public meeting on drainage and flood control in the Bow Creek Rec Center. The meeting rooms and facility are new, pleasant, and appreciated by those individuals and organizations using them.
Most bunkers have alot of mud and alot of bare spots in the fairways.
This is the worst course in Hampton Roads. I’ve never seen tee boxes so bad.
The course can be so much better to play if the course manager would put more effort in clearing around the greens and fairways.
Very nice golf course in a very nice neighborhood brand new rec. Center also its managed by the richest city in Virginia also easy on and off Interstate 264
Challenging, older golf course. Some rough spots but I like it. It has character
Son loves this course
On this sunny, warm Sunday my husband and I decided to bike to this golf course and inquire about a family membership, golf and cart fees, driving range fees and upcoming tournaments. As we approached the property and proceeded to the pro shop and office, a man aggressively exited the building and yelled that we were trespassing. Over the past few years we had never witnessed more than a few golfers at a time on the course, if at all any. Therefore, we would have never guessed this would be a closed membership golf course. However, after the rude and unwelcoming demeanor of the golf course employee, we have realized it is not open to the public. Our apologies to the disgruntled employee. Had there been a sign noting closed membership and/or not open to the public, we would not have attempted to inquire of membership or the facility.
The course is a decent municipal golf course. Short and fun. The new club house and rec center are beautiful.
0 out of 5 stars. The brown haired bartender told us that because we ordered food at the turn, we had to play the 1-9 over again instead of 10-18, and even went so far as to get the pro shop worker to agree with her. Even though we paid to play 18 hole (1-18, not 1-9 twice). She told myself and my entire group how wrong we were and went on to belittle us. I have and currently live on a golf course and have played bow creek along with Manny different gold courses entire life, and not once have I ever heard this before. Not even at this course when I played it 2 weeks earlier. I will never come here again after the way we were treated. I have never been treated so bad at any establishment I have ever been to in my entire life.
This place is amazing! Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Lots to do here for people of all ages.
Its a nice green when its available. Unfortunately its right next to a creek and the entire area has poor drainage. So with the slightest rain they restrict you to cart paths only. On top of that this course is located very close to Oceana Air Base so there is a constant stream of jets flying overhead. Really ruins their otherwise beautiful scenery. The lot next to the pro shop is shared with a recreation center that is always busy so even parking can be a chore sometimes. Course isnt maintained that well either.
This is a great location that virginia beach did pick out for a rec center . The gym here is full of some good up to dat equipment and always a fun place to go to workout
Good price. Course only in average shape. Typical publiy layoy
Their gym instructors are wonderful. And the front desk staff very courteous.
Terrible. Clear that they put no money or effort into maintaining these grounds. Hard packed dirt everywhere. Greens terrible. Do not waste your time when there are plenty of other courses within just a few miles.
Very nice and tight course. The good golfers stay away from this golf course because they cant handle it. To tuff for them. Nice staff management around the pro shop and course.
Great play area for the kids.
Not too busy conditions not too bad friendly staff
Fun day. Beautiful weather.
I made my first visit Sunday and not been there lived here all my life that is a superb Rec Center will be making another visit soon.
Swimming pools are so nice and clean. Very beautiful building. Membership is expensive .
We were t-boned by another car on our way into the lot.But what lovely scenery we had while we waited for the policeA++ for trees
I love this place, all the guys are super friendly, membership is affordable and its a great beginners course
Decent course but very rude pro shop staff. Used to be a better value but is now closer to average if not a bit overpriced. $37 off season rate is too high for what you are getting
I love this place!! Great staff, family oriented!! Plenty of programs to do for all ages!!
Very welcoming environment and able to get active, with swimming, cardio, strength training, etc. Very nice rec center. & friendly staff
Great value! Course is in great shape and challenging for the average golfer.
Overall it was a fun course and the greens were perfect with the exception of a few deep ball marks left by selfish players.
Friendly well kept less known course. Never have a problem getting a tee time.
The fairways and greens are kept in good shape and the course is a pleasure to play.
Fun place to golf. Lots of animals to watch
I like it. Course isnt the best and definitely isnt always in the greatest shape, but its laid back.
One of the best rec centers in Va, Beach . Awesome Zumba instructor.
Perfect for non serious golfers looking to have a good time. Fairways and greens are in slightly rough shape.
Bow Creek Golf Course is an affordable golf course in Virginia Beach, VA that is good for all levels of golfers. This is a good course for golfers who are just beginning because it is a shorter golf course.
Good course that doesnt cost an arm and a leg and is a good place to start golfing at if you have never been.
Great facility! The recreation center is like a country club.
Good workout gym. Staff helpful.
Great atmosphere
Nice local course
Bunch of par 3s and thick grass but easy on the wallet
Great place to play golf for not a lot of money.
Great recreation center. Pretty surroundings.
Great staff, clean environment.
Nice clean recreation building.
Horrible, nasty staff, crap course. I would have been better off burning my money.
I went to the rec center but Google refuses to believe me apparently the want me to golf .. the rec center is great
Excellent golf course
Wet fairways no water drainage
Everytime I come to the Virginia Beach area, I play at this course. Great staff and course.
Old school course.. Love it
Joined the rec center
Course is a mess through no fault of their own
Love anywhere I can golf but the greens where a little choppy
The city will never spend money to improve condition.
A lot of stuff to do
Greens were in poor condition. Munich course, priced accodingly. Friendly staff.
Offer a verge good practice range
Close to home, decent course!
