A beautiful place to visit. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite times to go. The volunteers that clean and maintain the Rookery are amazing and knowledgeable. Its a safe environment any time if day. Police drive through frequently due to the location.

If you like to see nature then this is a little gem in the city. They have lots of nesting birds, bats and an alligator.

Amazing place. Island is in the middle of a small lake. The island is full of nesting birds.

An excellent place to go especially this time of year when the birds have nests on the Rookery. And if youre there at dusk you will get to see the bats come out of their bat houses. Nothing quite like it. There is parking there and a shelter if you want to take a lunch. There is a porta potty on premises as well.

This is an easy access. The rookery was very active. Was able to view two baby Great Blue Herons in their nest. Remember to always bring your binoculars.

This is only interesting to people interested in birding...the event was observation of roosting of a variety of birds and to observe the bat nests as bats left their habitat to dine on insects in the area. Interesting to observe if one is curious about this behavior.

Spent one hour here. Lots of birds and wildlife. Nice and peaceful.

Nice spot to see some of Floridas avians up close, very short walk around a small pond island makes for a nice spot to get some fresh air and stretch your legs

A nature/birds paradise

The birds are marvelous and close for all kinds of photographic opportunities.

Amazing! This peaceful treasure offers us an opportunity to view nature at her best, with such a wide variety of birds nesting & raising their young together in this special spot.Good parking, nice shelter area, with easy walking areas for viewing and pictures.My wife and I love it!

Small island in the middle of a pond. Lots of water birds nest on the island. A bit early (2 Feb) now, but a little later there will be many nests and babies. Great blue herons, cormorants, anhinga, egrets... Great place to spend some time just watching and there are many photo opportunities. Highly recommended.

Great place and great birds. Every photographer MUST visit this place. One of best bird photography places in South-West Florida. I would visit it every day if I live closer. Dont forget your telephoto lenses. Check out pond behind for more birds and alligators.

We love coming here. Its so cool to watch the birds come in to roost for the night. Also, watching the bats come out for the evening is also so beautiful.

This is the 2nd time we have been to the Venice Rookery. If you love birds/nature bring your binoculars and camera to the rookery! It is amazing. Thank you Venice Area Audubon!

Nice place to bring sandwiches from WAWA and sit at the picnic table and enjoy nature sheltered from the sun.

Great place to see many varieties of birds. Normally very active with birds coming and going.

First time there. So surprised how lovely this place is. Learned a lot.

Rookery is very cool, with lots of nesting herons. On the walk around the water we saw plenty of other wildlife, including a big old alligator!

You really have to be interested in Birds. Nice photo ops if youre into that.

Great place to view herons and egrets. Nesting island is close enough for great photos.

Small but nice. Peaceful spot to visit and take some bird photos or have a picnic.

All eyes will be on the island in the lake, dont forget to scan the trees on the periphery.

A small and pleasant birding spot. While interesting, theres not much to it other than a small rookery surrounded by a pond and some bat boxes.

Several of us went to the Venice Rookery to photograph Birds. While there werent a lot there there were enough to make it a very enjoyable afternoon. There are several different types including cormorants anhingas and great blue herons. The island in the middle of the pond is not so far away that you cant get decent photographs. There are a couple other ponds adjacent where there were quite a few Birds including tri-colored herons black bellied whistling ducks great egrets and assorted songbirds. There was also an outhouse

This is a very nice place to see walking birds especially when they crowed each other in on the island where they spend the night. It is really sweet to observe.

If you love birds wonderful location for nesting birds.

Best time is just before dusk to see all the plethora of species of birds flock to the small island just off from your reach. They have great colorful brochures which explains each type of bird with pictures so you are able to identify each one.

Wouldnt suggest for outing with kids. Might take 15-30 minutes bird watching and walking around pond depending on their interest in it. Nice selection of birds on such a small island, and we did see some nesting with babies, but foliage is so dense its difficult to see much.

Love VAAS...but then Im President. Dont miss the Venice Audubon Rookery next door. Nesting wading birds, bat houses, purple Martin house, and resident alligator guarding the Rookery island.

Nice walk and not many cars, wish the path around the rookery was a little more paved but still nice.

If youre near Venice, its a must stop for any birder, or wildlife photographer. Should be great anytime from winter through late spring. Early or late in the day for best light.

We were visiting friends who live in the area. We always visit the Venice Rookery when we are here. Besides the birds we saw an alligator and watched the bats come out.
