Beautiful quiet preserve for hiking. Mostly shady except one stretch. We’ve done 3 miles here and 5.5 miles on the different trails.
This is a very great place if you want to just chill out and have a peaceful kayak trip. Also buy the dam there is amazing fishing.
Very nice preserve. Great for long walks. Nice views of the river. Shaded parking through midday. Saw deer. Some evidence of hogs. Plenty of space. Wide paths. Not crowded at all.
Nice walk, not much of a trail. Its not maintained very well.
Really nice place to (quite literally) get lost! The blazes are numbered but sometimes the cross paths got confusing. 3.3 miles turned into 6, but I definitely got to see a wide range wild and plant life. Turtles, an armadillo, and several wild hogs. While the trail is obviously kept up,the plethora of excavated gopher tortoise nests and other natural hazards make this more pf a hike than a walk, and there are no restrooms or water fountains so come with an empty bladder and full water bottle :)
Great place to hike, very quiet. It is a grassy path and doesnt get a whole lot of traffic, so wear shoes. We saw an armadillo right by the entrance. Take note that there is a creek running through the last (south) loop, so you either need to be crafty or walk through shallow water to complete the hike and get to the observation tower.
I dont hate this place manager s are great employee s to t
Nice area for a hike. They provide you a map at the beginning. The map gives you markers of all the intersections and spots with a picnic bench and a chair. I got to see plenty of cool nature. Watch out for boars. My main complaint is that there were areas blocked off with water from the rain 2 days ago. Not much you can do about that. Luckily there are enough varying paths we could take that we made a decent way around.
Wonderful 3.3 mile hike with a few stops on the river with beautiful views
Love it ... STUFF happens there
Florida as it was! I enjoy the rustic more primitive parks. Pack it in pack it out like it always should be. Myakka River views are brilliant! Lots of wildflowers and native flora and fauna.
Went hiking here and there were some parts that were flooded. The paths themselves were very rustic with tall grasses. It was hard to see where you were stepping and possibly who or what you were stepping on. If you want a less traveled area to ezplore this would be the place.
Awesome place to take your dog for a walk
Beautiful place. Going to start going more often.
Love the trails here great walking place!!!
Nice easy trail. You can see the river from 3 points off of the trail. (Make sure to get a map.) Several areas were impassable due to water on 1/2/2019 starting at trail marker 8 and several trails between the loop. If you go, wear knee-high rain boots. Saw a gopher tortoise and many birds.
In the middle of a highly developed and growing area, to have a place of Gods creation in which to find beautiful peace is priceless!
Beautiful park and trails along a river. Blocked off from motor vehicles, great place for jogging and hikes.
Nice quiet wilderness trail - did about 20 miles of leisurely biking with family visiting from up north. Fresh air and good exercise - fun time.
Lots of wildlife plenty of area pick up a map you could get lost just re step were you game
Pretty hiking trails.
Beautiful, peaceful place for an easy hike. Nothing too exciting to see, but youre walking through a wonderful sub-tropical jungle. Its March now and wild Iris are beginning to bloom. The longest loop is just under 5 miles but there are multiple cut throughs to shorten the walk if you prefer. Trails are mowed for easy walking most of the time. Bring water, theres none at the trail. Depending on the time if year, you may not be able to hike the entire loop. A few areas regularly flood in the most distant third of the loop.
Great for short hikes. Some River views. Very wet in summer. No drinking water or rest room. There are tables at the entrance and two places along the river.
Nice spot for a walk or bike ride.
Very nice. Easy walk to the river.
Very natural park with great views of the Myakka River. Limited facilities but a great place for shaded hiking
No pottapotty but nice spot
Its a beautiful park like parks should be... Nothing but woods... Good big map... nice river views... And a big difference in the types of landscapes from this area!
Pleasant place to take a walk but only limited views. Some flooding due to a freak rainstorm earlier in the week.
Beautiful
One of my favorites...but NO facilities. Long trails through varied terrains with points on the Mayakka River...bring water and mosquito repellant ! They should REALLY build a bathroom here !
Ive been before great place to walk. Just when i went this time cuz of the rain it was flooded
Great trail, must do it in spring though there will be a lot of water to walk through in summer.
The only thing that would make this place better is better trail markings
Nice walking trails. I wish some sort of restrooms could be made available.
Stunningly beautiful
You can walk down to the Mayakka River...its quiet, but theres not much to see there.
Great Florida woods some trails are along the river.
Great hiking trails, shade walking but saw a few shady creepy people along the way, Bad part no bathrooms.
Nice trails but washed out in several places but still awesome
Wonderful trails!!
Very nice area to hike
Nice place but no outhouse
Love it here!
Great for walks, but no bathroom
Good scenery views
All good.
Follow markers by walking clockwise. Could get turned around if youre not careful.
