Tyler State Park has a very scenic drive winding through its borders. The park rangers are very friendly and courteous. You will find the facilities clean and well maintained. There are many different options of use including primitive sites, RV sites, cabins with and without a/c, and day usage.

It is a beautiful park with excellent camping places. The park staff are courteous and helpful. Excellent place to view the fall colours. Do not miss a walk in the Whispering Pines trail in the late afternoon. The lakeside trail is also very beautiful. An ideal place for a day trip near Dallas-Fort Worth. (Note: not very good for stargazing.)

Amazing state park with gorgeous trees and scenery. Nice trails for walking and a bird blind for bird watching. Great small lake that is perfect for small swimmers! Clean water and very shallow! Easy to get in and out. Cabins were great and the staff was friendly. Enjoyed our camping trip here and will definitely be back!

We had a blast. The trails are AMAZING! Plenty to chose from with plenty of diversity. We brought the camera and I was able to challenge the kids to find interesting things on the trails. There were so many mushrooms and wild berries that we saw. The lake was amazing! The water is really clean and clear. We camped on site 337 and really like that spot. It didnt offer privacy, but there was plenty of room for the kids to throw the football around. We saw a tree limb fall on camper and another camper run into a tree. We also left a window down and a racoon got in, couldnt find anything to eat, and tore up our trail map. This is my favorite state park we have camped at so far. There is a reason the camp sites get booked up fast! Its like a mini Arkansas out there. A clear lake, giant pine trees and hills.

Just a quick day trip but had a lot of fun on the hiking trails. Lots of wildlife to see, and the lake is beautiful albeit small. The public swimming area is very well done and the views of the lake from the picnic areas were gorgeous. Facilities were clean and the campsites well maintained as well. Will definitely return.

A real nice looking park but beware, there is only one restroom/shower facility for all four tent circles. The campsites are steeply downhill from the facility and most of them are far enough away that people need to drive to get to it. If you gotta go in the middle of the night or like right now few people are going to drive to the restroom and the amount of toilet paper in the woods attests to this. Red Oak spaces 601 and 607 appear to be the only sites in easy walking distance

Nice place, as with any state parks, there is an entrance fee plus camping fees. One improvement would be wide roads for bike and cars or additional posting about bikes on road, cars tend to go pretty fast. We enjoyed our stay overall

We spent one night here, just passing through. We reserved campsite 334 in the Big Pine loop. It was a beautiful campground with clean restrooms. Our site was a pull through that had a slight incline, and it was very easy to level. We would absolutely stay here again.

A great State Park in East Texas. Two hours from the DFW area makes it convenient. This time we stayed in Area 3. Its somewhat more like a transitional RV park, but privacy is saved by the amount of trees around. This section has full RV hookups. We were in the inner loop with our view looking across a treed field to other campers. Not horrible, but not a spectacular view. The rest of the park makes up for any displeasures in the camp site - if any. Many other camping areas are great and dont get me wrong, we would stay in the same site again. Since the park has great trails and many fishing, wildlife, biking, and hiking activities, it is always very popular.

This is a very beautiful Park. Lots of various kind of trees. A small lake is also here. Very clean water, you can swim if you like. You can rent canoe & paddle boat. Its very cheap $15 per hour. You can stay at night here but you should take precautions about Raccoons. Me & my family enjoyed a lot. Dont come alone, you should bring either your family or friends.

Im a tent camper and the tent sites couldnt be better. Pairing the fall leaves with the climate of a lakeside site make this a perfect place to unwind and relax. Some sites are geared towards tent campers and others are for the huge RVs. Separating the two goes miles towards helping with the relaxing atmosphere. The trail around the lake around is beautiful. You travel through several biomes and theres plenty of spots for fishing. Be prepared for raccoons though, there are more of them than gnats around here.

This is one of the most scenic parks i have visited. It was a 6 hr drive for us, but well worth the drive. Its also one of the cleanest parks by far, minimal litter to be seen. The raccoons are a menace. Keep food and dishes in a storage bin or in your shelter. We only walked two of the trails but there were several to choose from. Bike trails are shared with the hikers.

I just got back from this place, and it was absolutely amazing! Very scenic and lots to do! If I could change some things I would probably get rid of some of the raccoons (they got into my food and made a big mess), and do something about all of the fallen trees. Over all, this is an amazing state park and I will definitely be coming back.

Amazing trails with plenty of fun descents and challenging climbs. Are you looking for a place to get a great workout? Are you just wanting to shred some downhill. This place has it all. Literally miles of fun! The C loop and B loop are my favorite but you really cant go wrong here. Be sure to reserve a time to go on the website if you think the park is going to be full or it is a peak day. Its $6 well spent! Take the family for some beach time, picnics, camping, hiking, or go alone and spend all day on the extensive trails.

I was told the park was at full capacity and could not enter. I was given the option to drive through for 20 minutes. I then pulled off to the side of the road and logged on to the State Park website. I was able to secure entrance to the park on the website. I called the park office at Tyler State Park and expressed my concern about not being able to enter the park when I was able to get a park pass online.

We love this state park! It’s our favorite for scenic pine trees, fireflies, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and mountain biking. Only an hour a way, it’s our go to for a dose of Vitamin N! A perfect day trip from Dallas! The facilities were exceptionally clean, the volunteer staff were both helpful and knowledgeable, and the lake is the perfect size for some family-friendly water activities without needing to keep an eye out for motorboats (kayaks, canoes, pedalboarts, and stand-up paddleboards available for rental on-site). There is a small variety of scenic hikes that are great for the inexperienced or those traveling with children. An easy 30 minutes away from Tyler, where food and lodging are plentiful.

One of our favorite places to camp in Texas! The park is always so well maintained, quiet, and peaceful. The lake is so clear, it is one of the few lakes I’ve been in that I can see my feet in. WORD OF THE WISE: the raccoons here are ruthless! They do not fear people at all. Do NOT leave your trash out. Do NOT leave your coolers out. Even if it’s just full of juice boxes and Capri Suns.... trust us ;)

The park is beautiful, however the park rangers are over zealous in training their new staff. We werent overly loud at all. We were sitting around the fire talking, not acting wild at all. If the kids didnt wake up from us talking and they were right next to us, we werent to loud. They were definitely very boarder line harassing us. They also took of the female parents away from the sight of the group to talk with her. We didnt appreciate that at all. I have been camping in state parks for 30 years and have never had an issue like this. None of the four families will be returning to this park.
